When life hands you a problem that just won’t go away…. What do you do? Do you simply accept the solution presented to you… or do you look at your options and change directions.
Yesterday I did something that I have been wanting to do since I moved to this area, over 20 years ago. I went to a barber shop. Exciting eh! I have been driving past this place over the years and wondered, how it existed, I live in a big city …. this little shop.. sits by itself on a busy city street… with two big commercial shops on either side.. not directly beside it.. it is on its own little lot.
It was once a house, converted to a little barber shop in the front of the building and upstairs (back entrance) is a Tattoo shop. I am eccentric, past my gentle years, and set in my ways… I would drive by and see a truck or big SUV parked in front, never a lot of cars.. maybe two .. the odd time three. … always there was plenty of parking and the cheerful barber sign winking from the window.
Yesterday, I simply drove in, parked and walked in. I have been having busy days one after another. Its been on problem to solve after another. Not big overwhelming stuff… just …. “stuff”
I wanted my head shampooed … and hair cut. nothing more.. (I usually cut my own, so this was going to be a treat)….. I walked in, was greeted right away, and asked to sit.. I looked around for a wash basin .. didn’t see one, he directed me right to a chair.
Ah.. I thought.. sigh.. no shampoo…. but I was there.. so I sat. You know what. I was there. I said I wanted my hair clipped and I pointed to the other man in a chair being groomed, like that.. the older barber, looked over, and said to the younger man.. use…and he gave him numbers.. (clipper sizes I guessed). I closed my eyes and just let it happen.
Within minutes I could feel my whole body start to relax.. the buzzing of the razor, expert hands gently moving over and around my head….was soothing.. I actually heard my body sigh. not just a little sigh. .. a dramatic… sigh.. my shoulders eased, and I relaxed even more. He kept working, I heard a little voice say.. “hair grows back’… BUT.. YOU KNOW WHAT…..at that moment.. I let it happen, I was actually relaxing.
Don’t be afraid to try something new.

I didn’t get my hair washed, but I had a wonderful relaxing experience… Sometimes what we think we want and what we need is different.. I learn something new every day.. =^_^=
Have a good day everyone.
