August 15. forest wonders

the tree that was

The story teller in me, found a tree stump one day in a small forest setting nestled off a well trod trail. Not this one, but one similar. I was so taken with the setting that a whole story emerged about a wee family of forest folk who lived nearby and used the stump as their outlook. They would come out during the day, hike up the base of it, then stroll the “high grounds” enjoying the view of their little dens and glens.

I didn’t have the time this day to stop and really have a proper look around. Could this be where the wee creatures who live within the ferns and wild flowers, sit out on warm days.. to catch the rays of the sun, and visit with passers by. And what wee ones would they be?

can you feel the eyes hiding from sight, watching you

The whole area was full of life, birds, crickets, butterflies, ants, mice, chipmunks, the activity was alive with sounds … all blended in to form a natural melody that harmonized and weaved into a calming ambiance. It is a world of wonder like no other.

It is important to be assertive, but maintaining harmony is just as important. say what is on your mind clearly, but don’t be overly attached to your views. Respect the point of view of others and always seek to find a happy medium.

Wednesday 15th.

Not picture perfect, but there you have it. Leon has his rights. He knows when it is his time to chill, and he takes it.

Love a Donkey

“Hey, come on closer, I can’t hear what you are saying”… dutifully I found my way into the ditch and up to the fence.  I knew darn well they heard what I was saying, but clever darlings, wanted me closer so I could feed them the taller greens on my side of the fence.

I learned some time ago how devious they can be.  As full of mischief, they are also softies if you are deemed a friend. Get on their bad side tho’ and I would stay way clear. If they are working, and taking care of their flock… be warned, security checks can be quick and purposeful.

My visit was obviously on their lunch break. =^_^=    I’ve been known to chatter away, wax poetically and find myself rewarded with big sloppy kisses.  Of course a carrot or two in my pocket helped.

Lately I have found myself on back roads, where I have had the pleasure of a few encounters.  Have you visited with a donkey lately?  Aren’t they a wonderful audience. You know they are listening even when they turn their backs.. scratch an ear, if you are lucky, you’ll hear the donkey sigh, =^_*=  (wink)

Enjoy every day, today, will lead you to tomorrow.

Blessings be… Oyashikiri

communication …… remember, it is not always what we say, but HOW we say it. after we speak, it is important to LISTEN

now is now

gelli-art-2-20-17

Sometimes, when the itch comes to put  something down, you have no idea, what it is you are wanting to “say/see”  You get out your paints, canvas or whatever it is you want to work with and you simply begin .

Through the years I have learned that what works for someone else, is not going to wonk for me.  I have to listen to what is happening “inside my head”  to believe that  my instinct will guide me to what it is I need to express.

If you write, paint, draw, crochet, knit whatever it is you do to express your creativity, if try to force the flow, you are never happy with the results.

Now is now.. I will suddenly come to a halt.. I do not want to do anything else, not at the moment anyway.. When that happens, I know to stop and step back, and allow what has happened to “talk” to me, to identify itself to me.

Photography is the same way, I can take several pictures, of the same area, or object(s) yet when I review them, more often than not, it is the one I least expected to be “the” one, that will jump out at me.

Life is the very same.. every day we are presented with a new canvas, new opportunities, tomorrow I may or may not want to revisit this piece.  Some expressions, speak to my spiritual side.. other times, I’m simply OK with the results, but I feel a satisfaction of having put colour into my thought process.

Tomorrow will be the start of another “today”… what colours will you put on your palette.

Whatever you do.. do it with a smile, put your whole heart into it.  Make the most of NOW.

The art of “Storytelling”

vintage xmas 2

I am a writer of stories,  but the art of telling the story, that is an art all on its own.  Last night I gave myself a gift, I took myself off to a magical place,  for an hour plus, I was transported to another world, and another time. The voice of the talented story teller from his virtual platform, took the audience to  Lapland where a boy named Nikolas was orphaned, and how the villagers came together to look after the young boy. Last night was  part 1 of Christmas Story (Joulutarina)

On the Seanchai libraries website,  they explain…  Seanchai (“Storyteller” in Irish) Library celebrates the Celtic tradition of stories told around the hearth or in the pub to friends, family, and welcomed strangers. Seanchai Libraries bring stories of all kinds to life, in Virtual Worlds: Second Life, InWorldz, & Kitely on the Open Metaverse.   www.seanchailibrary.com

The story teller last night was Shandon Loring.

santa-past

Do you have a picture in mind, of what Santa looks like, did you wonder which of the folk stories are  “true”   How did all this Santa Claus “stuff” all come about…. ?

Story telling is an “art” .. my time spent listening to Shandon last night, has me wanting to know more about the story he began telling us last night.

If you are interested, join us for his next reading. Next Thursday evening 7 pm. pacific time.

PL Precept # 19  Begin Once You Perceive

Namaste       –       Oyashikiri

Sometimes in life, we need to listen to our inner voice.. stop running, we are doing, doing doing, but not being effective,  Life will find a way to step in and ensure you stop, listen, and recharge.

chop suey Friday

mohawk, just beyond

When we journey beyond our day-to-day, we come across forgotten places, faded dreams of a yester-year.   There are such places, that I can acknowledge and let pass.  Two ships in the night.  Other places shout out to me, calling for my attention.  So we stop and I survey the land, the energy and “vibe” of the place.    What is it that makes one location stand out from another.

IMG_1606

Same stop, different camera angle.  Maybe seconds have passed, maybe it was more like a few minutes.  But in the fraction of time my gaze and attention was diverted.  The light, the view was different.  So it is in life.  When first a challenge faces us, if we listen and take in what it is we are dealing with, our response and reaction will vary.   If you are two people, arriving at the same time, seeing the same thing, neither of you, will see it the same way, sometimes close, and other times..totally different.

IMG_1608

That is why communication, conversation is so important, if there is dialogue between two people, even between two energies, there is compatibility or there isn’t.  To be a good communicator, listening has to be one of your most used tools.

The place may seem empty, but…………. the reality is ………………………..it is alive with memories.

Cherokee native morning song

Good morning on yet another sun filled day.  Going through my morning mail I had the pleasure of finding this beautiful piece of music.  As I enjoyed the ambiance it surrounded me with, I thought about Ancestors’ Day, in Perfect Liberty (PL) it takes place on the 11th of each month.

elder wisdom

Through this ceremony we express our gratitude for the love and virtues of our ancestors and ask for their protection and guidance se we can continue to live the PL Way.  In today’s world, it also embraces our friends, mentors, peers, all those who have through their interaction with us, have helped us understand life, and grow in a positive and meaningful way.  This ceremony is performed every 11th. at 10 am. in the church.  All ar welcome to join us.

Someone once wrote that they discovered that talking to people anywhere, whether on plans, trains, busses, standing in line at the supermarket, being open to listen, to share, smile… often turns into a valuable lesson.

When we live the PL Way,(with GOD) we always have the JOY and AWARENESS that is not affected by life’s ups and downs.

PL lesson 5- Widsom Comes Naturally when you are humble

wisdom

“You will stop growing if you have a conceited or boastful mind.  Always remember to be humble.”

This is when practicing the art of listening is so important.  If we think we know it all, or already know what someone is going to say or do, we deprive ourselves of learning.  It could be a new way of doing something, or a different viewpoint on a subject we think we have down pat.

PL lesson 5

Chinese New Year (year of Monkey) has already started in parts of the world.   A time to celebrate with family and friends. In China, people travel for days to get home, this is a big holiday.

sunshine and flowers

Where ever you are, however you are celebrating, may inner joy, satisfying rewards, and good health be the core essence of the new year.
