graduation day!!

Cultivando alegria no curso de inglês.  (English follows)

Bringing joy to everyday classes.

On July 5th, I finished my English course as a condition to start the Algonquin College (please, more details about it, see the previous testimony “My journey to Canada”). I had studied for 9 weeks from 9 am to 4:30 pm every day (except for weekends) and that kept me very busy.

In the beginning, I thought I would handle it easily, once people considered my level of English as very good. Actually, it turned out that I have gotten lots of improvement. I realized that I still had many mistakes and, as a result, I did my best to study and learn as much as I could. During the course, I had been receiving Oyashikiri prayer whenever was possible.

There were times that I felt pressure and some concerns appeared (e.g looking for a place to rent), and that began to affect negatively on my performance since I was worried about only the results instead of the learning process. In summary, I was losing the joy and excitement to go to school. As a PL member, I noticed that it was the right moment put in prqactice PL teachings that I’ve learned over the years: everyday express appreciation for the opportunity and pray to bring joy and be creative.

Doing that was a game-changer because I really enjoyed my time at the language school and even my classmates were so pleased to have me there. Definitely, it was a great experience because I have met many people from other countries and I have made valuable friends.

On my graduation day, these new friends showed so much care for me that I became speechless. In the end, we have created a bond between us because some of them shared the same challenges and the same goals as mine, so we could support each other and we can now help each other.

I do have appreciation for God and Oshieoya Sama. The PL teachings are a treasure that can make a huge difference in one’s life like the testimony above.

Thank you for taking this moment to read this. May God bless us all with joy and peace.

Thank you for sharing Yoshi, (Yoshizumi Terada) have a good day everyone… Enjoy a great start to a brand new week!

a mess!

Card mess 3

You don’t start out wanting to make a mess, but, that is what you end up with.  I had fabric I wanted to use, part of a dress, a piece from a pair of dress pants, in my head, I thought it would work out.. there were several attempts, In the end, I hit a wall.  The idea will resurface, but not now.  Now it is time to take a break, do something else.

The Tao says, ” a wise person, knows when to stop, a regroup.”  I’ve learned before that trying to force something to “work” when it just isn’t happening, assures a person of one thing…. FRUSTRATION  and a product that lacks “harmony”.

Sometimes we just have to accept.  We made a mess. =^_^=

Faith and Prayer

I was so overcome with emotion when I saw all your comments and encouragement on FB about our recent loss (Canaille) and my husband’s cancer.  We know we are facing a long road ahead, the treatment will be aggressive.

Your thoughtful words of encouragement, and empathy for our situation, is so heart warming.

Each day is a new beginning, tomorrow we hope for word on just what the team of doctors have  laid out as a game plan.

I feel so blessed to have shared time on this planet with each and everyone on of you. You are part of my happiness and joy.

Knowing and feeling the healing energy that is being sent our way, is a balm…

I pray that the Universe will embrace each of you with heaven-sent blessings.

PL Precept 11  Always be with God
# 11

Chop suey 9.27.16 -abandoned

p1000385

There are times when I feel simply overwhelmed by the creativity of others.  Thus was the case here, my husband is used to my hollering “stop the car, stop the car” and having to pull over turn around and bring me back to the “whatever” that brought on this outburst.  I was totally taken by this building, it was once an antique car lot.  The detail, the whimsical  character of the architecture.  I would have loved to have met the previous owner.

p1000393

See the tie man!!  I loved, loved, loved it.  I toured around the building, as much as I could without being an intruder.

p1000412

The second floor balconies made me itch with curiosity.  Wanting a ladder or access to the inside to I could get closer..  I’ll post a shot from the road, so you can see what I first saw.

p1000397

Like HELLO.. how could I just drive by and not get a closer look.  It was on getting closer that I saw all the details, and the charming way the owner had put character into the building.

This is what life is.  Think about it.  How often do you meet someone, or see someone and think, how interesting, I wonder??  But, we never follow through, we never take that chance .. we are polite, and go about our business. I was blessed that in growing up, I was encouraged to meet and greet the world in a positive light.

Not only in old abandoned buildings and lost, left behind vehicles do I see beauty and wonder.  I see it in my fellow-man.

PL Precept #10  Love Yourself and Others

PL Principle # 3   I will live with a mind of appreciation towards others and things.

There will be more pictures of this house, (Norm’s “Thursday Doors”  but before I sign off, please let me show you the car that was left behind. It was being textured by Mother Nature, she was looking “some” good…=^_^=

p1000399

Beauty if in the eye of the beholder, isn’t it ….

For those of you who love “rust detailing” and the different patina that Mother Nature can bestow on metal

this car is showing a lot of promise

caught in time

DSC00233

There are moments when I am caught up in what I see.  We were in a drive through, when suddenly an ordinary moment became one of dimension and depth.

DSC00234

I was drawn into another world, each blade, each stem took on personality of its own. I wanted to capture that moment, and I did.  It all took place in probably less than a minute.

PL Precept #19

Begin Once you Perceive

Even now, hours later, when I look at that moment in time, these pictures, speak volumes to me. I want to experience every blade. each leaf, and discover the marvel of the textures in the bark

How awesome.  Simplicity, I was inspired, I took action, and I’m blessed now with the happy feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction… Life is good.I so love being part of it.  Thank you for sharing the journey with me. =^_^=

adventures in a corn field

corn field

Being a city girl, I would never have thought of playing in a corn field, yet I now know that many a youngster has spent many hours discovering a wonderful play haven in the tall passage ways found in the corn fields. When I saw this picture the writer in me wanted to weave a story of the little fairies and trolls who made  summer homes under the plants, enjoying the shade the leaves and husks provided.  That would have been fun, but a distraction from the task at hand.

We are told in PL that life will take on a greater dimension when we are able to perceive our surroundings with more ” sensitivity”.  So as I start my day with my visit with you, I ponder, on whether or not I meander down the road for a while, or focus on my “list” of “things I should do” today.

OH.. hello a new face, a new possibility, well what a nice surprise.  What can I learn from you, would you like to come closer, wow a face to face with a cow,  Now that brings a smile, a new experience I wasn’t expecting. what fun.

Look for new ways to learn and add knowledge/experiences…. the seasons come and go before we know it, another year has gone by. Make each day count.  Cultivate new possibilities with a positive outlook.

PL Precept #21   Live maintaining equilibrium between mind and matter…

holland

This lovely picturesque grouping is of Giethoom in the Nederlands where there are no roads.  It is a beautiful and quiet village unique in that you will not find a single road in the entire town. Instead it is connected with paths, bike trails and a canal system. Visitors are welcome to explore by renting a noiseless, electric “whisper boat”.  I have been enchanted with the idea of visiting ever since I read about the place.

We all lead busy, at times hectic lives, and finding that quiet time we need so much often eludes us.  We grab moments here and there, but often they just are not enough. In PL we have a Precept, # 5 that says.. One’s self is lost by being emotional.

The 21 PL Principles help us to achieve the 21 PL Precepts that we live by.  Like everyone we struggle at the best of times to get then right, or to effortlessly follow them, but in following PL Principle #1 – I will live paying careful attention, putting Makoto into all I say and do (Makoto/sincerity)  as best we can, dedication towards that goal helps enormously.

Holland 1

To be easy going, and to live life constantly in a cheerful and calm state is something to strive for.  When I’m challenged, then I revisit the Holland of my dreams, and let my mind wander effortlessly through the gardens, and sail the waterways.  Care to join me today?   You are all so precious to me, I wish for you a glorious sun filled day , no matter where you are, no matter the weather, let the joy of life, bless you with a soothing balm of love.  Thank you for sharing this moment with me, I really truly appreciate the time you spend with me.  (I would burst out  into song, “love is in the air” but that dear reader would really send you into hiding )  liefde + kus  xxxoo

conceit

Present 2

Is conceit one of the traits that you have gift wrapped under your tree? The Second Founder of PL, (Perfect Liberty) in one of his lessons taught that  gold is gold and iron is iron.  I’m simplifying it, in essence, if you have a piece of iron and try to disguise it as gold, no matter what you do, it will always be, iron, and vice versa.

When I was younger, I was very drawn to the “best” of what I could afford,  Designer labels filled my wardrobe, my credit cards were worn thin.  One day I realized that only I knew what I was wearing, and really, only I cared.  I meditated on that, I learned early in life I had a very big component of conceit in my makeup.  It has been a consistent bit of homework to tame the conceit and “tad” of arrogance in my character.

We are blessed with gifts from “above“, they are not “ours” they are given to us to share with the world to help and improve the lives of others.  A sincere thank you, and smile go a long way in showing our appreciation when something is done for us. AND, if we have the means and ability to do something for someone else, that we do so with makoto (sincerity).

1d77090d8ef05a94377137a108c0690b

The simplicity of years gone by has been replaced with a lot of hype and a must have society.  However, each person we meet is dealing with a myriad of issues, try to listen not only to what is said, but to the spaces between the words.

5fb409a9b267bbbc26da3bc3a9182fb2

Try calling instead of sending a text message.  We are losing the personal contact that was so present in past years.  Love and a peaceful heart, begin by accepting ourselves, in accepting ourselves, and loving ourselves, we are then able to  reach out and accept/respect the differences in others.  Peace on earth, is possible only if and when we genuinely love one another.

Feelings -Thanksgiving

What comes to  mind when you think of Thanksgiving……….

Is it the joy you take in gathering supplies to make colorful decorations that will please the the eye and delight the senses?  Small gifts for friends, or just to brighten your home.

As the color titillates our awakening senses, we are open to new adventures   Where ever we are when the leaves start to change, we feel it in the air.  Our appreciation of life is aroused and we find ourselves more open to changes, in fact, our creative juices start to bubble with ideas that want expression.

This picture evokes the desire to explore, to walk down this sun filled path, to smell the autumn leaves as they progress through their cycle of change.  You know that the photographer who took this picture, felt the sun and heard the birds and wildlife that surround her/him. They managed to capture the moment beautifully.  If you listen closely you’ll hear the rustle of the leaves as a gentle breeze makes its way through the spectrum of fall colored foliage.

Life is to be enjoyed,  Thanksgiving is a time to express and give thanks for the bounty we receive in life, In Perfect Liberty, (PL) we give thanks each month for the many blessings in our lives.  We do so on the 21 st . of each month.

Faith grows not only through intellectual understanding but also through actively participating in life, the PL WAY.
