You can only change yourself. Before you start telling people how they should do things, think of how you can be more flexible.

shadows in the fall

Fall and winter is when we get to see just how many trees there are in the the forest If you happen by at just the right time, you get to see their shadows adding to the design of the textures on the ground.

We had a light dusting of the snow still on the ground from the snow that fell the other day. Today with the warmer weather, it could disappear, in my next shot you will see the wonderful earthy colours of the ground that was more open to the sunshine.

Mer Blu

I love the fall. Simple statement that I make each year. The season never fails to thrill me with its bountiful warm rich colours.

Wednesday

It was a beautiful day for reflection yesterday.

Day 26 of the PL Calendar

Maintain a positive attitude and wisdom will come to you.

Worrying will prevent you from having good ideas.  Stay positive and you will find a solution.

lost? in place

merrickville-6-10-18.jpg

No, not lost where you don’t know where you are, just “lost” when you stand in one place and feel that at that moment, you are in many places.  The shadows, the lush vegetation, the multiple shades of green.  AND of course the almost hidden old wooden building in the background.

My adventure companion and I had arrived in Merrickville, her for ice cream, and me, for no real reason but to share time with a friend and enjoy the outing.  Then I saw this place and was instantly transported to many places at once. I saw New Hampshire, the Laurentians, southern NY state, it was an amazing feeling, it  wrapped itself in a hug and vanished,

Such moments are not uncommon, but they are not “ordinary” we have to be tuned in to “receive the frequency”.  Be present in your every day life.  Live each moment!                 Live with appreciation .. give thanks!

PL day 11 (calendar)

BE THANKFUL FOR WHO YOU ARE TODAY

You are standing here thanks to your ancestors, your parents and those who have supported you through your life.  Show your appreciation by giving back to the world around you.

reflections

Today’s lesson… (PL Calendar) 9 – Your surroundings are a reflection of You.

Oyashikiri

  • how often do you look in a mirror, but don’t really see
  • how many mirrors do you actually have in your home
  • how many of those do you actually use
  • is a mirror decoration, or a useful object

shadows and light

I waited and waited , but didn’t want to miss the moment, so snapped.  The human I guess gives it a flavour.  The place was busy,  being a mid Friday afternoon, I was lucky. The sun was so bright, it out shone the lights on the decorations.

Happy Saturday everyone!   Remember, feelings of appreciation, only become real, when we express them. ………thank you   =^_^=   yes, YOU, to each and every one on you who share my world.

shadows

IMG_4112Shadows cast their imprint on the forest floor, not looking up, I wanted to read the storyline that played out on the fallen pines and organic debris that carpeted the way

IMG_4113autumn sun was high in the sky, so that the filtered light cast beautifully defined lines against the rusted shades of brown and grays that lay textured, the perfect foil for the images being projected for our viewing.

PL Precept #1     Life is Art.

How we creatively interact with the challenges and opportunities that come our way, if we were to see them only visually, it would be like the shadows shown above. dynamic and static meeting as ONE.

retreat snowberries 2

On a retreat this past week-end, my sister thought to share some pictures with me.  In one of them, I was very taken by these big white berries.  They are so plump and lush. She is in California, so her countryside where she was visiting was very different from what I have now here in the Ottawa area,

I thought at first to crop out the shadows, but then I realized that it lent a very human element to the picture.  the retreat took place on a large acreage owned by the diocese of the church she belongs to.  Her church and another one were holding their annual fall retreat. Before the heat of the day set  in, her group, were walking some of the pathways, exploring.

The picture isn’t perfect the wildflowers look a tad blurred, but I think the reason I liked it s much was that it was being shared with me, and it had been part of her journey that day. So often in life, we want everything to be perfect, I am guilty of cropping, removing, using photo shop at times to get what I call an artist visual of whatever it is I want to express.  My sister, was taking a picture simply to share her happy moment, the joy we all feel when we are outdoors on a sunny day, being warmed by the sun, perhaps a gentle breeze and fellowship.

Realizing that the  sharing of a special moment was more important and let’s face it precious, than a perfect picture.  Appreciation of all that comes our way, is a gift.  I like many others have to practice every day, giving thanks, and being grateful for all life has to offer. ALL, not just what I pick and choose . When we learn appreciation, only then can we truly be of service to others.

Look at the view ,for as far as they eye can see .  No highrise to block our view,, no constant roar of traffic.  Just open land.  I wasn’t there at the time she was, but I am sure enjoying it now.

It is Canadian Thanksgiving today, but appreciation and knowing how blessed we are, is something to give thanks for every day.

chop suey Tuesday

1-30-17-c-towards-osgoode

Blue skies, dazzling sunshine, a fresh crispness in the air, it was time for a day trip. We are fortunate that we can just pick up and go, if the spirit moves us.  The landscapes look so different when they are blanketed with snow and the trees are bare of their leaves.

1-30-17-towards-osgoode

Notice the happy shadows, at the time of my visit, they are free of critter tracks, but I’m sure had I ventured in further, I would have found evidence of the abundant life within the little woodland patch.

1-30-17-aI was content to simply peak silently into the little world I’d come across. Hoping that by standing very still, I’d catch a glimpse of another wandering nomad, or furry critter going about its day.

1-30-17-b-towards-osgood

The simplicity of the moment, the beauty of the shadow a silver-gray on the textured snow brings tranquility and beauty to my tired eyes. The natural sunlight, the fresh air, background noises of the woodland and the cars in the distance, all blend to harmonize into my moment of communion with Nature.

It takes but a second to connect, to allow God to colour our day with a joy of recognition, that it isn’t man-made news that is important, rather the essence of happiness lies within.  Life IS.

To achieve peace and happiness, we must find it first within ourselves.  Peace is a by-product of LOVE.
