The vet and his team, made a house call. Velcro got to be in his favourite place to be, watching over his domain and waiting patiently for his family to come home. Just as the procedure was taking place, a red cardinal came and sat outside the window in the living room where I saw.. looking in and where Velcro was with the vet, He stayed there till the vet walked away back to me to say, Velcro had passed. I knew, because just before he came to tell me, the cardinal flew away, It was 11 a.m. on the 21st. the day of appreciation and gratitude.
He was my husbands “buddy” they were constant companions., I like to think that they are back to hanging out now,.. It is a sad time for me even if intellectually I knew/know it was/is time,,.
Don’t be sad with me… Velcro is no longer in pain, his spirit lives on in my heart. Keeper (my ten year old) and I will soldier on. She best of all knew how much he suffered.
Begin each day with a renewed sense of appreciation. always remember that you are here today thanks to God, and thanks to the many people around you. Let’s make each day meaningful by starting out with a feeling of gratitude.

Who says a dog’s life isn’t always easy. It is 80 degrees in the shade and the human wants to go for a walk. Give me a break. Personally, I’m going to stand my ground on this one. Ahhh found a place to chill.. and man I’m gonna just lie here till I’m ready to get up. If I could only get him to turn off that noise box.
We humans are always putting words and thoughts into our dog’s actions. Today I took the two whippets out to the country for some quality R & R with some of their whippet buddies out at the Breeder’s “spa”… huge running area, level terrain, shade umbrellas, huge wooden deck. Velcro the oldest (a true senior citizen) was fine till all the youngsters were let out.
Body language says it all, he went to the door that leads out of the back spa area.. and stood there, face pointing out of the area. Non verbal communication, “Let’s head” This human was enjoying a nice breeze and pleasant conversation.. Like Leon (above) my dog was not interested in what I wanted, he had decided it was time to go.
Choices.. choices.. Keeper his sister (grandmother ) to a few of the younger dogs.. was also showing signs of.. ok enough of the activity.. I’m ready to leave. When you live a quiet life, and are suddenly surrounded by very active, curious and playful pups.. you are happy to climb back into the vehicle for the ride home.
So what did I learn today – our animals, communicate to us, communication is key between all living beings. We need to be open and aware to receive … when it happens, it is a wonderful connection.
This next picture is of a sheep that I fell in love with when I was working with textile textures. I went through a phase where i went bananas over sheep.. this breed was one of my favourites.

Happy May 5th. Bom dia!
Another mixed media done for demo. The idea with a demo of new and old products is to show artists, budding new crafters and seasoned expressionist how to use some of the newer products that are arriving on the market daily. Yes you an see YouTube videos but a video isn’t something you can touch, feel and at the same time, have knoledegable staff who can and will help if you have questions.
I know that there are many who prefer to deal online for supplies, and if you know the product, and the supplier, have a particular way of working, and are not going to deviate from what you know.. then go for it.
My experience is that when I am in a creative mood, or am working on an idea, I want and need my inventory handy. Part of the creative process in mixed media is to be open to new possibilities. The demo -before- during prep.. sometimes, what is down could be up =^_^= Abstract work, is lived in the moment.
The beauty of abstract mixed media… given the same products, no two pieces will come out the same. How perfect is that. We are all unique … talented and beautiful.

Plan ahead, come to Ottawa, come enjoy the city, … come meet the dogs, and bring your own. The Byward Market a tourist attraction right in the down town of Ottawa, minutes from the Parliament buildings. This is a day for walking enjoying the day, the shops and fabulous snacks and meals on the Market.
There will be Pup-Up shops, Patio & Pups, Paw Prints, Bones and treats, Pup Tails, PTSD/Service Rescue.

I am very proud of Steve and Paul, their achievements with the dogs that they breed, raise and share their home with. Our whippets come from their “home”. They are so dedicated to their “family”. “Achievements” such as the ones that they strive for, are met only with hard work, focus and total commitment. Main ingredient is LOVE.
When we love, truly love, unconditional love… it will reflect in all we do.’
