It’s important to be assertive, but maintaining harmony is just as important, Say what is on your mind clearly, but don’t be overly attached to your views. Respect the points of view of others and always seek to find a happy medium.
Good morning, yesterday I mentioned how sometimes it is hard to step out of the “past” and “let go” so that we can move on, relearn to live and begin new “adventures”. Dan who usually does a lot of wildlife photography also has a love of the inner beauty of “ice”…. In delighting in his “captures” the other day, I saw a couple of the macro shots he took of ice.
This one reminded me of a star burst against a midnight sky, In prayer/meditations of late, I have prayed on the memory /reflection of how so many “friends ” have come and gone over the years, Altho’ they are not physically here, I can’t just call up and come by or /drop over for a visit… the many hours we did have of sharing/ the laughter/ the anxieties as we coped with life, all come flooding back. Their imprint on my life lives on.
One of the positives I liked about photography was the ability to not just see the “surface” but with a good lens, patience and a steady hand, we could actually see beyond what the naked eye can/could take in, IF we took the time to “see” beyond the moment, and really look and immerse one’s self in the total connection we discover new realities. Even as we enjoy the crystals that formed that one piece of ice, it was in the process of changing, and that moment in time in seconds will/would be gone never to return.
Don’t be swayed by the past; It’s what you do from now on that counts. Your failures as well as your successes are now in the past. Always look towards the future and start with a fresh outlook.

Why do you try to understand art? Do you try to understand the song of a bird -Pablo Picasso
The last few nights I have had the strangest dreams.. Well .. really if I think about it, they are not all that strange, the themes in most of my dreams are multi-coloured and always, I seem to be drifting from one “act” to another…usually I’m in the same locations, but the back drops are different. Players change in appearances but in the long and short of it all, they bear similar personalities to the actors I’ve interacted with in the past.
I found this picture in my files, and thought it appropriate for this post. The colours are cheerful, however there is something about the picture that although I like various aspects of it.. For me, the total doesn’t really pull together properly. And that, dear reader, is what I am “feeling” this morning. My dream, my recollection, the moment, etc. is OK, but there is a BUT.
Ever happen to you, can you relate. It is Tuesday after all, not Thursdays when I usually like to participate in Norm’s Thursday doors. link to Thursday Doors
What else to do but go forward with the day and see what transpires. Exciting eh~!
Isn’t this just the greatest natural doorway into a small paradise. Maybe not what we usually call a door, it does not open and close, but, Wow, I have to say congratulations Shirley, this is a stunning piece,. I look through and see so much that captures my imagination.
A lazy bear, resting in the afternoon sun. His nose pointing towards the sky as he breathes in the clean fresh air. The water so calm and blue, I wonder if I’d dare to wander through the doorway in case I am tempted to dip a toe in the sparkling water or like the bear become part of the amazing natural wonder that is calling to my senses. I want to find a place, sit and while away the rest of the day.
Dreams and magical vistas await us every day. It is up to us, to make time to go out and play.
Good Morning, bonjour, Bom dia… where ever you are, I am wishing you a “brilliant/sun” filled day! With or without sunshine. Make it a happy day, a productive day… most important … balance your day… make time to play.

Ok I’m not in the wilderness, but I could be. Right, I’m not lost either, but just because I know where I am doesn’t mean I’m not lost. If I was an ant wandering around down there amongst the foliage, it would be a wilderness. (perspective)
Especially if I had to find my way home, and back up the tree. Would the rain hamper my progress? Certainly in a downpour in the truck, when it comes down in sheets, it is very difficult to see, even with the window washers going at full speed.
Picture perfect isn’t what the day is all about. I guess basically my thoughts are wandering, and tho’ I’m in a familiar place physically, my gray matter is heading for the wilderness, to find some breathing room.
Sometimes it is best, to let life around you, sway and bend as it may, tomorrow will be another day. So when you wake, it will be a brand new day.
Even if we are not hockey fans, at some time in our lives we have seen, heard or even gone to a game. If it wasn’t or isn’t hockey it could be some other sport, soccer, baseball, there are a lot of people who are enthusiastic fans.
In hockey, like in soccer, there is a goal keeper, or tender. obviously there are other positions, but it is the goal tenders that I seem to have a special interest in. they function differently than the other players, and their training and skills sets are honed in a different way. There powers of observations tend to include a lot of mental agility that they spend hours developing moves to instinctively kick in with what computes with their visual intake. I can watch a good goalie in action and be totally mesmerized by their performance. (soccer since this is what I have watched the most of)… now I have an interest in a Penguin player, Matthew Murray who has made 47 saves to lead the Penguins in a 3-2- victory against the Capitals, giving Pittsburgh a 2-1 series lead.
I know it takes a TEAM to win a game, not just one player, the spirit and the fabric of their cohesiveness is at the core of a TEAM’s overall performance. Whether it is Sidney Crosby (centerman) or Kris Letang (defenseman), Pat Hornqvist spoke after game 3, Murray has been interviewed, the players all seem to have a sense of confidence and speak of their performances during games in a positive way, even when discussing what happened during a game where they loss.
Nooooooooooooooooooo for all of you who know me wondering if I have fallen off a glacier. I have not taken to hockey… but I do appreciate teamwork, and in this case my love of penguins, and a bit of friendly competition, has me rooting for the Pittsburgh Penguins, that they have good goal tending is bonus. When my son thought he wanted to play hockey, he wanted to be a goal tender. So I heard all about the goal tenders of the day. Watching Soccer honed this interest … for me the “specialist” on the teams are the goalies
In every day life, we are our own goal tenders. Do we let challenges that are coming at us, around us, affect our lives are we passive….. no, to be happy, and to live the way we want to live, > in a state of happiness< ( the best antidote to stress and stress related disease) a dedicated athlete, practices daily, it is a way of life… so too must we, focus and live in the NOW.
