Thursday doors 2 – continued

The house can be seen as you drive into Cornwall off the 401 going west.  From the off ramp it looked so lonely, so forlorn.  The inside is completely a mess. Without proper footwear and a hard hat, I wouldn’t venture too far inside.

The area around the house  looks like at one time it  had been a tended  lawn and garden.   I’d say a farm-house, the building (that also stands empty) that you drive past to get to this one seems to attest to my thinking, but then?   It is a brick building, perhaps when the land was expropriated for the highway, they built further back.. Of course with expansions.. this is no a place for a  “home”..  – for sale (land) it would be commercial property now.

I love the old wood, even with age, it has a quiet dignity to it.  The homes being built today, I don’t see the same character or get the same feeling of seeing a structure that was built to last, a home for generations.

The basket in the upper right corner, I remember when we would find them at markets filled with fresh farm vegetables.  How long ago since the last resident put it outside, perhaps filled with fall produce or an autumn display of bright foliage.

The house has been vacant for some time.. the wild trees, shrubs and grasses have been reclaiming what was once a tended lawn.

Thanks for visiting with me.  It was important to me.. to give the house  some  love attention, maybe one last time..  the new gravel down on the road leading to the area, suggests that something is “in the wind”

Progress so necessary, but at what cost……

Situated at the foot of the Sredna Gora Mountain, this property has a good disposition being 30 km away from Stara Zagora – the sixth largest town in Bulgaria. The property is located at the center of a nice and peaceful village, where you can face the beautiful nature and go fishing in the river nearby. One of the most famous winter ski resorts – Pamporovo is disposed 168 km away from the village.

The house consists of two stories, with living area of 90 sq. m., a garage for one car, an outbuilding and a garden vast 504 sq. m.

Ground floor: Here you can find an entrance, two rooms and a bathroom/WC. The house was built from sun-dried bricks and stones, the flooring here is wooden, and the frames of the windows are wooden, too.
First floor: An external staircase leads to it. There is a corridor, two bedrooms and a closet here. The flooring in the corridor and one of the bedrooms is cement, and the other premises have wooden flooring. The walls are made of sun-dried bricks, and the frames of the windows are wooden.

The garden is a small one and planted with box-trees, flowers, fruit trees, trellis vine. There is also a drill, which helps for the irrigation.

The house is in basic condition. It needs refreshment and renovation of the plasters. The property is supplied with electricity, running water /outside and inside/ and it is connected to the main sewerage system. An asphalt road leads to the property; it is accessible in the whole year.

The village itself offers shops, a café, a school, a church, a police station, a health service, a post office, a community center, a library, a kindergarten and regular bus transport to the towns and the villages in the vicinity. The region around is suitable for fishing, hunting, mountaineering and village tourism development. So do not miss the chance to become the new owner of that house.

I don’t know if you can access the website, I hope so … for years now I have been receiving the listings from this company, I saw a documentary one day on some travel station, and fell in love with the rural area of Bulgaria.  The above is so totally foreign to my current lifestyle and how I go about my life, BUT it appeals to something inside of me.

When I read about places to visit and explore, seldom do I see anything about Bulgaria.  In the documentary I saw, men still rode their carts pulled by donkeys through the village, everything seemed so peaceful.

Good morning everyone

I was asked a question last night by someone who is just getting to know me.  He said “who are you anyway”, simple question I guess, but it was not an easy answer.  I’ve been reflecting on it since it was such a direct question, and I did not have a simple 1 liner answer.  For those of you reading this who have followed my many blogs and lived, experienced my numerous discoveries with me, I doubt you could come up with a one word answer yourselves, because certainly over the years I have rolled along life’s roadways simply living what the Universe put down before me.  That what life is to me, a journey in which I am always traveling  through the moments life presents to me.

When I was actively teaching lessons of the TAO through Chinese art forms, landscaping, martial arts, meditation, body work etc. it was always very interesting to me how different the reaction or answer would be when I asked a potential student why they had come to the Center.  How they had arrived at my door.  Answered varied, chronic pain, their doctor’s had recommended  something I was teaching/offering, anger management, wanting more  from the martial arts training they were getting.  Health care professionals who needed a release from the day to day pressures of their jobs.  Golfers wanting to improve their game.  It was a joy each day to work with people who had a thirst for more.  We wanted to take back control of their lives, to be more connected.  Yes I have been very blessed in  this life. I so appreciate all of my life experiences, for without them, I would not be the person I am today.

In schools you are taught lessons, techniques, in life you learn to use these lessons.  It is not how much you learn, it is how you learn, it is not in the quantity of things you do, but in the quality of what you do.  In the last 20 years I  have seen a change in Massage Therapy. I was in one life a certified RMT (Registered Massage Therapist) why because to practice that Taoist  ”WAY” of body work, I required certification in the discipline as required by whatever State of Province I was working in.  Each geographical place had different levels of competence required. ( I’ll save my comments on this for another visit.)  Over my years I’ve had to acquire certification for this and for that, lots of useless pieces of card stock, that in time get grey and time worn and really serve no purpose except put $ into the accounts of the groups/associations that give out the renewal stickers.  I never put them up.

For teachers like myself, it isn’t about the numbers or the money, it is about the connection you make with another human being.  That said I soon learned that $ does for some reason  have an impact on the perceived value of the sessions.  I am generalizing here, but often when something is given free or at little cost, less value is put on what is being shared.  For most of my adult  life, I lived alone by choice. Work was my passion, and my life.  Work was something to do to earn money to live, but for me, I loved what I did, and so yes I needed the money to live, but I sure loved the experience of working. When I would get publicity, an interview on television, radio, or newsprint, the phones would go wild.  However I am one person, and I can only do so much, so…. in time…. the Universe worked it out for me…. and life settled back to a comfortable pace.

I did not do combat sports, I did work with students of the art at perfecting what they were striving to do.  I did teach meditation, active and passive, but with each student I worked out what was best for them.  The land and nature were  and will always be, part of the teaching.  We gain strength through our hardships.  It is in repeated and often simple movement that we achieve great things.  There are no mistakes, only learning curves.
