Blessings happen

Gifts appear /happen when we least expect them to.  While working on this morning’s blog, I came across this video. It was posted by Jim Stenson, on YouTube, I can’t tell you how I landed there, I don’t remember consciously going there.  I was looking at trucks..(yes I was distracted by a  2015 Chevy Colorado )..and then  oops. what is this..  It is such a beautiful and moving video, I am sharing it with you this morning.

Jim put the music to the video, he published it in 2012, the Mother contacted him in 2013, and he has published and recorded the sequence of events in his post, along with part of the conversation he had with the Mother of the child (Herman) and the dog’s name is Himalaya.  To see the original post and Jim’s notes please follow the links in the video I’ve posted.

Have a good day everyone..

“Native American Code of Ethics

Rise with the sun to pray. Pray alone.

Pray often. The Great Spirit will listen, if you only speak.

Be tolerant of those who are lost on their path.

Ignorance, conceit, anger, jealousy and greed stem from a lost soul.

Pray that they will find guidance. Search for yourself, by yourself.

Do not allow others to make your path for you.

It is your road, and yours alone.

Others may walk it with you, but no one can walk it for you.

first winter storm 2015

winter alone

It was our first winter storm in 2015, and guess what, the year will be over very quickly, only a few more days now, and we will enter into 2016.  With the storm warnings, and the cold blowing winds, I’m sure that there were many who were not loving the day.  Especially with buses  stalled, and stuck in snow banks, the cold weary commuters had to stand and wait in the blustering weather for transportation.  It was certainly a dump, no light dusting today… when I left the house shortly before nine there was already a good foot of snow in the driveway.

snowblowing

Snowblowers and shovels were the toys being used today.  When I was leaving home and hearth on my adventure, I saw only trucks like mine or bigger, on the roads, and of course commercial vehicles.  The big city  plows and sidewalk cleaners were likely in the downtown core and major streets in the city’s core.  I could hear the ice pellets hitting the roof of the truck, yes there was some of the little crystals gems flying through the air as well as the flakes of snow.  I couldn’t hear the wind, but I could see the trees bending and the commuters hankering down into their winter coats with scarves wrapped firmly around for more protection.

So what was I doing out?  I was enjoying the day.  I watched the gray mist darken the day, when I got out of the truck to enter a building, I felt the cold on my face, and the  embrace of the winter chill.  My boots left a deep waffle like texture in the soft snow, and my coat  kept me warm while I walked.  I had the store basically to myself, the staff that did make it in, were busy telling of their adventure, I had time to wander and delight in the treasures that were laid out for me to discover.

Clerks had time to visit,   we enjoyed some social chit-chat, while we dealt with the transaction at hand.  It wasn’t rushed, it was nice and leisurely, and then while walking back to the truck, I got to appreciate how the snow had fallen and covered the truck in a blanket of white… there was a crystalized veil across the windshield… the pattern a lovely lace.  Mother Nature had done this in a very short time, she is obviously good at what she does.

snow fall in Ottawa

Smaller cars were having their challenges, I decided to take a different route home.. It was a little longer maybe, but it was a bus route, the roads would be plowed.  It wasn’t till I got back closer into the city proper that I saw just how much traffic was being affected.  For sure I had to be extra careful, stay focused, and enjoy my surroundings while staying vigilant.  I loved it.

It was good to be out on my own, going from A to Z I even broke out in song. Yes. be thankful you were not with me.  I felt that my positive good mood would see me home safe and sound, and it did.  I had a great sense of satisfaction in my outing, it was rewarding even…   I didn’t let the voices of “others” over shadow my desire of experiencing the day.  I embraced what was presented me, and took it all in, and said thank you  at the end of it all… the great mood just continued on, and tomorrow, will be another day… Hopefully just as amazing as this one was.

Ottawa

You know who else had a great day… the children who got to make slides and play in the snow… and the skiers who finally got enough snow to have a day doing what they love to do.  =^_^=  life can be magical!

I loved today …  and I love YOU

idyllic & surreal

time clocks

While not everyone, enjoys surrealistic art, it is so often mind-blowing and fascinating, that it is hard to not look at it, gazing into it, trying to absorb or discover what it is about the picture that draws your attention.  Imagine  the artist who pulled this piece of art together.

art, visual

Being a visual person, I find it fascinating to see what someone else has seen and in turn,  put it out there for me to discover,  It would be nice if we could see into each other’s “head” to see for ourselves what someone else has seen.  however, while the person who puts their visualization to pen or to paint to show us, there is no guarantee that we will see or feel the same emotions and exhilaration that the artist did ………   We are all just so unique.    Yes we sleep, wake up, and eat like everyone else in a manner of speaking… but..what we get out of these actions is different to each of us.

self expression

The infinite charm of self-expression lies in the creating of art itself, I can be happily doing something that pleases me, and seldom  know what it is I’m going to do before I actually do it.

Mushrooms, moss and an old log, photographer Frans Lanting took this picture , Manu National park, Peru, those are Cup fungus in the Amazon rainforest. She captured a still of a very vibrant living landscape.   When we are creating, we must perceive the subject &  really fully grasp its essence, the visual, evokes inspiration, which in turn creates and stimulates a desire for expression.

When we put our full attention, sincerity and scrupulous attention to whatever creativity we engage in, the results are much more rewarding and pleasing to us.  So it is when we are faced with a challenge.  How we proceed, the choices we make, all become part of the fabric of the results or product that we produce.

Today was a day of “Learning”  I’ve been building/creating for a long time using virtual software, graphic programs and I’ve happily done a little bit of this and a bit of that. Content to play. A dear friend and mentor that I hadn’t seen in a long time popped over and while we were talking she suddenly asked me why I hadn’t done something.  I had no idea what she was asking me, but in discussing it with her, I realized she was talking to me about a step or process in the doing of something, that I didn’t do, and it caused problems with some of my presentations.  I had known that I had to work at achieving what I wanted, and was often stuck with the problem so had to work around it.  Now here she was asking me a simple question,  in that moment, she opened a whole new window for me.

It was too much for me to take in, I will have to review our conversation, look up tutorials, meet with her again, and and and. I was happily doing my thing… but… to someone with experience in what I was doing, I had left out a step in the process. hmmm I reflected as my head hit the pillow. There is always something to learn.  Then my mind decided that perhaps I should deal with some of my other creative projects.. do something less “Intense”  So now it is 4:52 a.m. and I’m still up.  Yes I’ll pay for it tomorrow, but this is something I wanted to do.

f1fc9db97120275e1a36f01c79ae81eb

Now that I know there is another step and that if I do it another way, I will have different results, what will I do  I will learn the new method, because I like learning.  However, if I am creating  something because it pleases me, will I do it the new way after I’ve learned how, or will I want to do it the old way.  To grow I need to be able to let go of what I have done, and have an objective mind”  There is a saying… our Self is revealed when there is no ego....

silent night

in prayer

tonight, I bow my head in prayer

quiet meditation, allowing my thoughts to play back in my mind

yin yang

I learned today that another friend is dealing with cancer

I know that we can pray and feel we are not being answered

victor hugo

for those of us who are not dealing with  determined

angry cells in our body, and not afflicted by constant pain

discomfort and weariness

we can empathize, we can feel the anger, the frustration

but we will never know just how difficult it must be

turn off the brain

the best gift, the only guarantee that we will find our inner peace

is when we open our hearts to LOVE

cancer is a nasty disease, yes it is, it is fed by our own unease

to make time  for yourSELF

to honour your own BEing

is the first step towards a silent night

a quiet mind

and a true connection to LOVE/God..TAO/Nature

HOT DOGS!

hot dogs

WOW and wow again.. Good morning everyone, here it is a few days before the big day.. everyone is having a family get together soon, has had one or is planning one.  Last night at church we had our monthly Thanksgiving service.  After service on the 21st, tradition has it that we have Japanese Curry on rice..  We get two different choices, mild and spicy along with a green salad.. and yes there is always a dessert, members bring in goodies too.    Last night it was a big honking apple pie from Costco that was front and centre for those with a sweet tooth.

On our way home I turned to my friend Eartha and said ” I could go for a hot dog right now”.  I really really meant it, I’d had hot dogs on my mind since the other dat,  Not any hot dog, but the big ones we get from Costco, steamed.  It is the closest to the Montreal dog that I drool over.   I’ve learned to eat it  bare.  No condiments.  Why, cuz they don’t always have them out, and because it is messy if you are going to be eating it in your car..BEFORE you drive out of the lot.

Obviously we did not stop for hot dogs.. it was late and time to get home.  But the thought has not gone away, because in doing my research for the blog… look at what I found… No there is no point in my going out and buying hot dogs and buns.. that is not how it works with a craving…  The best part of eating an “all dressed” hot dog, is to go and get one from a vendor who knows how to dish them out.  Do you agree?

Everyone has their own specialty.  Something they do well.  I accept that making a good hot dog is not one of mine.

In PL we have a Precept … Precept #13 – There is a Way for Men and a Way for Women.  I’ve always had a bit of a problem with the wording, and I’ve had many a discussion about this with various ministers and officials of the church..  I am of course limited due to the fact that this ministry is out of Japan, and few of the  ministers, I myself can dialogue with, speak with a good command of the English language.  I do not speak Japanese.

So to me, and this is MY take on it after years of study and being with PL.  we men and women are like the hot dog,  we come in one shape (human) the  shapes and sizes differ, but we  all hot dogs.  And then depending on where we live and the customs and beliefs we are adorned with as we journey along.  We appear to be other than what we actually are. (in this missive, hot dogs =^_^=) human beings.

We, each and every one of us, may take a different path, or use different condiments to enjoy our hot dog, in the end, we are satisfying a craving, an urge, a desire….. What is different is how we want our hot dogs, our choices are what we decide to do with the hot dog…. and in the end, the choice we made, was it a good one?

Oh my, won’t you be happy when I find myself hot dog and move on……  cravings !!!!

Have a super happy day everyone!
