Snapshot 1 (6-3-2016 5-58 PM)

I’ve been days in trying to get this picture into a format that I could share with you.   It was taken the first day out with my new camera, I was so chuffed at getting to the water where the Queen’s swans had been released for the summer touring. There they were, so lovely so elegant. Snap snap and yes they were on the camera, BUT when I got home and tried to put them on the computer…nothing.

The fault was mine, not the camera,    I had not read through the instructions.. (yes, I know that there are those smiling and tsk tsk tsking now, and you know who you are) but hey, I’ve  used a camera all my life, yeah yeah yeah… but not this one.

PL Principle # 7    I will not have a mind to be hasty….etc…

PL Principle # 6   I will not be stubborn, being captured by my own thoughts…

Snapshot 2 (6-3-2016 6-09 PM)

What I had managed to do, was take 3-5 seconds of movie frames.. so to actually capture the screen in a format I could put in the blog, I had to use the software Movie Maker.

Pl Principle 2 reminds me to be creative and look for shortcomings in my OWN thinking and actions.

LOL…  I get a lot of practice. It may take me awhile, but I figure it out.  In time, I’ll get better.  I will because I want to.    Paradise is where we find it.

the tree that was

Q sculptureWhen we first moved to where we live now .. I had a blank canvas to work with (landscape).  I enjoy a white birch, so I planted a young 5 footer  in a corner of our property… Every year i watched it grow and blossom into a beautiful graceful shade giving tree.  Have you ever heard how a breeze can create the sweetest of sounds as it dances its way through the branches and leaves?  It is the softest of whispers.

birch, waterclolor -The first snowfall by aud Rye

This is a water color done by the artist, Aud Rye called “The first Snowfall” (chrisbeckstudio.blogspot.com)

Artist love to paint, sculpt, photograph, landscape with it, it is a tree that has its own flair, and character.

Used in a garden or landscaped setting, the birch provides a contrast to the vivid color of the flowers, and/ or the many shades of green that are planted around it.

Even in the winter its sculpted beauty is a welcome sight,

We lost our birch to some kind of disease, for whatever reason, it just started fade, the leaves fell away, till eventually even the branches began to show their desire to move on, I was told nothing could be done. I had watched that tree grow from a young sapling to a princess, but one does have to let go and let nature do what it must.  So… I cut it down so that only the stems remained and using sculpting materials, I used it as a base for the outdoor garden structure you see  in the first photo.

For several more years .. it had a place of honor in the garden.. while its core disintegrated .. the weather meanwhile kept changing the face of the sculpture… with each passing season,I saw how the changing temperatures and many rain and snow storms took its toll.

Now in the garden we still have an arm of the tree here and there placed in different corners of the garden so that when I come across them I’m reminded of what was.  To visitors they are whimsical pieces, faces emerging from the greenery, to me, they are part of all that I am.

Some of my pieces are posted on Pinterest, those that I still have, and some that of course I no longer have because they were sold or adopted,…. but always over the years, i get word, or a reminder, of another time and place in my life.  Like today, when I got a notice that  the above picture of my expression had been repinned twice. and liked.

When we do something, say something, we don’t always get immediate feedback, but know … please believe me… each and every thing we do… has a consequence.  The timing may not be what you want or expect, but nature travels, works in its own way, Nature is always in motions, Nature/God is always with us.. we need only be aware and listen.

Enjoy each moment of your day, cherish the experience the adventure of life.  Embrace your creativity.  Life is Art.

Road Block

dce39eeb1c4c7a6b213931cdbc41009e

Good Morning everyone…..

It happens to all of us, at some time in our lives, we come across a “road block”… as a writer, writer’s block, when I’m in a creative mood with my sculptures, and suddenly my creative moment goes on sabbatical, it is another form of “road block”    In PL we are taught to take a step back, and to look at how we have been tackling our “challenge” (task at hand).   If I walk away do something else, then come back, I am often able to “see” with a different set of eyes.  When I was painting, I’d find that there were some forms of expression that I just couldn’t agree with.  I would keep wanting to add more paint, or take some away, make adjustments, this would go on till my canvas looked like one big mess of colour. Instinctively I would know that I had “missed” the moment…. the ah ha… of the expression was gone, no matter how much I was to persist, it would not come back. It was time to acknowledge that I had not been working with my full makoto, and the result was before me.  Like it or not,  what I had achieved was putting my “mixed emotions/feelings” on the canvas, there was nothing to do but accept it and move on.  Trying to accept the abstract mess of colour was never satisfying, especially if I tried to convince myself that this is what I must have been trying to express.  What is the expression, you can fool some people some time, but you can’t fool all of the  people all the time???   And, you may try to fool yourself, the reality is, your inner self always knows what is real and what is not.

In Norman Rockwell’s print, you can see that everyone is giving their full attention to getting the “road block” to move out-of-the-way. (found on imachild.wordpress.com)  When we are faced with a difficulty, challenge, obstacle, if we step back and think about how we can creatively get around our problem… usually with patience, the obstacle will move along.
