Ancestors’ Day

Ancestors’ Day – the 11th of each month. Through this ceremony we express our gratitude for the love and virtues of our ancestors … MAKE TODAY A “GIVE BACK DAY” We can live our daily lives owing to our ancestors, our elders and the work of our predecessors. Above all, kindness for others is the best way to give back.

Very important, especially in Asian culture. Indeed, in Japan, there is an annual public holiday in September known as ‘Respect for the Aged’ day. And many ceremonies throughout the year focus on thinking about our ancestors and the older generation from whom we can learn so much. One of my reasons for spending more time back in the UK was to be closer to my own parents. Sadly since returning I’ve lost my mother but my father, aged 96, soldiers on and I’ll visit him again on Thursday for memories, stories and words of wisdom.

we are truly blessed when we can exchange info and share life with our parent(s) . even we ourselves.. if we are of an age, where there are many younger generations around us… I’m sure you’ve noticed, how your “learning curve is very different from those who are growing up in the current “now”
