Every morning for years I would drive by the farm and the two horses would be there to greet me as I drove by. Then I didn’t see them, the building they were housed in looked forlorn and empty. By chance I drove by when the tenant was by the roadside putting out the recycle bins… He told me the horses were not coming back,, they (humans) were moving. These beautiful creatures, were so kind and gentle, they would turn when I slowed and we would share a greeting…. The NCC has boarded up all the windows and the entrances to the buildings (still standing),… and … all doors are closed and locked. Another adjustment .. another memory of what was…

I’m sorry to see barns boarded up, but the loss of your buddies is much worse. Thanks for sharing the photos. They look genuinely happy to see you in them.
Thanks Dan, 2023 was a year of goodbyes… sigh.. life.. it does go on…
How sad! I would miss them too. It always makes me sad to see barns and farmhouses empty and/or boarded up. We’re losing an important way of life.

I’d miss seeing these beautiful horses, too. A shame they’re gone, but we all move on eventually. Happy New Year and cheers to new ‘neigh’bors!

It’s difficult to lose somebody or something you love for years. 😦
