The PL Thanksgiving ceremony was wonderful today, the BBQ that followed was delicious. The steaks tender,tender, and the salads a perfect “balance” for the diet conscious. I was told the recipes originated in Brazil (Portuguese), the more I get to experience their cuisine, the more enchanted I become.
Shared community and good food. what a nice way to end the week-end. (yes, I did my best to not over indulge =^_^=)

Enjoy Life!

Enjoy your friends, be playful, listen to music that “speaks” to you, & has you “groovin” What were some of the fun things you wanted to do when you were younger? Have you done them? You still wanting to explore the possibilities?
Do you allow your creativity to speak, or do you try to mold it into what you think will sell, or be appreciated by others?
Take time today to count your blessings.
Listen or look at what you are producing now, does it give you goose bumps?
Does your creative work bring you joy? Are the results, soul satisfying?

In PL, one day a month, we come together to celebrate our blessings, we call the celebration Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving is on the 21st of each month.
If you are in the area, please join us.
We are all artist in life, all thing come to fruition when the heart and the object (form) are in accord with one another

It’s Thursday – WOW

It's Thursday - WOW

Almost through another work week, Whether its to the beach,or to the office, have some fun time today. Do a little Be Bop, sing some ” Run around Sue”, even “Shuffle off to Buffalo”, bellow out some “YMCA”, or hey better still, share a giggle with a friend. Guys, the morning cuppa will be full of cheers… I’m off to morning prayers to wrap you all in a warm loving hug before I head to the gym.

Yin – Yang

Always there are two sides. Positive – Negative, Male, Female, Sun – Moon, Day- Night, one compliments the other. There are times in my life when I am drawn to the lighter side of life, and other times where I find beauty and wonder in the darker arts. Yesterday I couldn’t stop reading a historical novel full of love and intrigue. Today I am deep into the meaning of enlightenment. I recently picked up the summer issue of Light of Consciousness, thought to take it on the trip with me to read during the long waits between flights. It proved to have so many articles in it that I wanted to spend time with, i.e. “Visions of the female Buddha” by Deborah Bowman, and Sleep Better with Mindfulness by Joseph Emet that I couldn’t wait to delve into its pages. Now of course it will stay here so that I don’t lose it while I’m travelling. I will pick up lighter fare for the trip, magazines that I won’t mind leaving behind for the next traveler.

In life it is important to continue along the spiritual path towards our goals. It is also important to know that our goals are not set in stone. As we develop and “mature” our needs change, what we wanted and needed a few years back, may not be where we are headed today. It is essential that we take the time to “meditate” and look at the positives as well as the negatives of our “now”, before we move on. Ask yourself, is it an appropriate time to act. The time to act is when you have the correct inner attitude, and the commitment to follow through on whatever it is you decide to do.

We are all different and have our own unique personalities and lifestyles. Therefore, how we practice PL to solve our problems, or to express our true selves will vary. In consultation with a PL minister, we receive guidance and support that is tailored to our individual needs.

The Value of Money and Things Depends on How You Choose to Use Them. Money and things are materials for your self expression. Use them to their fullest for the sake of others and society.

Greetings Wednesday 17th – hola!

Greetings Wednesday 17th - hola!

Good Morning…. How are you today? Wish you could see the big smile on my face. Yesterday when I was cleaning up, tossing and packing things away for the church garage sale in the fall, I realized that I had not seen my prayer beads in awhile.
*#@ panic!! what happened to my beads. I have been collecting and holding them close for a lifetime. I was reacting, when suddenly I caught glimpse of the Omitama (a PL prayer symbol blessed by Oshieoya-sama,) Mine sits high on the mantel in the “gathering room”

I stilled the desire to run around searching, sat myself down and closed my eyes and “let go” of the anxiety. As my run away mind began to settle down, and I felt the calm of the quiet begin to wrap gently around me, I remembered I had put them away last time I cleaned up so they would be safe. Soft sigh, I knew where they were. =^_^=

Do you have prayer beads, do you use prayer beads in your practice? Something to consider. Prayer beads come in many colors, sizes and combinations, Lois Sherr Dubin in her book “ The History of Beads from 30,000B.C. to the present ” tells us “It is perhaps through the use of rosaries,circlets of prayer beads, that people have achieved their most profound and complete relationship with beads”

Letting Go

Letting Go I will be leaving soon for Japan, finally, the time is drawing near. Next week. I will be leaving all my electronic gadgets at home and boarding a plane for an island far away, one that I have only read about or seen on travel shows. I know that this trip will change my life forever. It is a trip I have waited for, for a very long time. 1. Rensei training, PL’s unique spiritual,mental and physical training, conducted only at the PL Holy Land. By participating in this specially blessed training, one’s state of mind can be purified and we can embody the PL teachings. 2. I will be there for the annual Founders’ Day Ceremony, a power packed event that ends with an hour long display of the world’s greatest fireworks “The Art of PL Fireworks” I am being asked so many questions from friends and family. Will I take pictures, will I sight see, will I shop? Nothing is further from my mind. In preparation I have been meditating, and praying not only to try to prepare for this experience, but to accept the Letting Go of the part of “me” that will not be coming back. Daily I’ve been cleaning out, & paring down of material possessions. With each piece I pass along, the more the physical space becomes uncluttered,, the more serene I become. PL teaching day 17..Always Challenge Yourself With New things... Life is interesting because we always encounter unknown or new situations that we have never experienced before. Proactively challenge each new situation. Meanwhile, our new Sr. Minister (Rev. Eugene) arrives this week, we will meet Saturday for a special ceremony, and Sunday the 21st we will all celebrate Thanksgiving together. The PL community will gather to meet and greet. Please if you are in the area, you know that you are welcome to attend. Contact information can be had from our web page. Rev. Goto will now be based out of New York. He will continue from there to be available to anyone wanting information on PL Rev. Tiago our resident minister is also available to assist you in Portuguese, Spanish,French,or English. Blessings. Time out – Road block

Time out - Road block

Ever found yourself standing alone trying to replay what just happened. One minute you were laughing and talking and the next your friend is off in a huff. Or you yourself have gone from good mood to one of “not so good”. Miscommunication?

Do you stew over it, waste the evening, or do you address the issue? If you don’t speak about your thoughts and actions, you will not be able to express how you truly feel.

In PL the teaching is to take ownership for our actions and words. By expressing ourselves it opens heart to heart communication/connections. We know how it feels when we feel we have been slighted, or neglected. Saying “Thank you”, or ” I’m sorry” goes a long way towards building and maintaining lasting friendships.

PL Principle #3 > I will live with a mind of appreciation towards others and things.

PL Principle #6 > I will not be stubborn, being captured by my own thoughts.

PL Precept # 4 > Being annoyed limits your expression.

Strive for heart to heart connections. Everyone benefits. (PL lesson, day 15)

God Resides in Your Prayerful MInd

PL teaching day 13 > God Resides in Your Prayerful Mind. In addition to making heartfelt and continuous effort, Let’s pray to God. He/She will surely respond to your Makoto (sincerity)

Mioyaookami -God> is not a person,male or female. God is the power,source and law of the universe. (In PL we call God, Mioyaookami.)

Just as we know that our bodies must be fed, and renewed by having a good night’s sleep on a regular basis, so must we connect with the “Divine/Universe” in a constant orderly “way”
PL faith grows not only through intellectual understanding but through heartfelt prayer on a daily basis.

Be confident, be aware, take action

PL teaching day 12 > Don’t let Yourself Think “It’s too hard”; Just Give It a Try.
Always look at things that appear before you with a can do attitude and accomplish your goals with strong conviction.

To embody the PL teachings, you do not have to go up into the mountains for hours of meditation. PL teachings are simple, practical and useful ways that guide us in living the PL WAY.

May your ascension along the spiritual path be blessed with many happy memories.
