One should never assume. Here I have been happily blogging away about my life with Perfect Liberty, thinking everyone knew about the church of Perfect Liberty or had heard of it. My apologies. Above is the church in Ottawa, Canada. There are also churches in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oakland, New York and Hawaii. These are the churches in North America. For the locations of the churches in Brazil, Argentina, etc. you would need to contact the Holy Land in Japan, In Japan there is a network of churches all across the country. The Ottawa PL Church branches out, Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver with little communities in between. The PL Church in NY is headed by Rev. T. Goto (Sr. Minister) who was our Sr. Minister here in Ottawa for approx. 13 years. He is now located in Jackson Hts, NY. and can be reached by e-mail or phone. The phone # is (718) 424-8815. New York and Ottawa are in the Eastern Time Zone.. when it is noon here, it is 9 a.m. on the Pacific Coast. Japan is 13 hours ahead of us. Again noon here, would be 1 a.m. the next day in Japan. Pl Church (Perfect Liberty) has a history that goes back to the First Founder Rev. Tokuharu Miki who was formerly a Buddhist priest,the story begins in 1912, when Rev Miki met Rev. Tokumitsu Kanada. Our history is fascinating one and one we will look forward to sharing with you. The Second Founder was Rev. Tokuchika Miki, who passed away Feb. 2. 1983. Our current ( Third ) Founder is Rev Takahito Miki
The PL 21 Precepts are the basis of the PL Teachings. They reveal the true path of life for all humankind. Beginning with PRECEPT #1 Life is Art” – It is these precepts that I write about and live in my life on a daily basis. For me PL is a way of life. Not just a philosophy or teaching. Like the TAO it transcends all earthly definition. If you are fixated on what you don’t have.(ie. language, or understanding of what the characters say) you will not be blessed with wisdom, or an opportunity to solve your problem(s). In PL we say, Think creatively to get past any obstacles in your way.
Every moment that you are with your problem(s) you are not with Tao. The best you can do is remember that your stress is not absolute reality. (Tao,Deng Ming-Dao)
PL teaching – Live Each Day With Excitement > Challenge everything with enthusiasm. You will be rewarded with joy and encounter happy occurrences.
I am back from the most amazing time away, where each and every day was a new challenge. The rewards were many and the happy encounters and memories made, endless. There is no way that I can begin to tell you, or share with you all that has happened to me in the last 9 days. As I took in the country, the people, the environment, and all that went with the days and nights away in this remarkable country called Japan, I knew that it was a new chapter in my journey of self discovery. the images and sounds, the friends made, in one word, it was all profound. A simple egg – became not just an egg, but a “wow”, the taste was different and the colour of the yoke was as bright as the sun. Telling you this is so mundane, you had to be there, I thought a dye had been used, but I was assured that no this was the colour of the yoke in Japan. Certainly in every other instance I had to see a yoke it was the same intense orange.
Be assured that as the days progress and my mind recovers from the jet lag, I will be recounting the many moments/insights and learning, much is still being assimilated and processed. I was there to learn, I was on a pilgrimage, the Director of the International Office of PL – Rev. Tokuo Itagaki, and his team of assistants and staff did an amazing job. the Rev. Fukito Kimura who coordinated the Rensei Training was outstanding. It was a phenomenal experience.
There were hundreds of people there trying to communicate with one another, The main languages being Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish (Castellano), we were only 5 English, 4 USA and 1 Canadian (yours truly), we came together because of our faith and dedication to PL (Perfect Liberty).
For the Founders Day Ceremony ( Kyososai), August 1. PL followers came by the bus load. We are talking of thousands of people who came to worship/pray and celebrate. During service, as promised I held you all close to my heart so that the blessings could be shared with you. Oshieoya-sama’s presence brought total silence and reverence, it was totally awesome. The flames spell out LIFE IS ART
Enjoy your friends, be playful, listen to music that “speaks” to you, & has you “groovin” What were some of the fun things you wanted to do when you were younger? Have you done them? You still wanting to explore the possibilities?
Do you allow your creativity to speak, or do you try to mold it into what you think will sell, or be appreciated by others?
Take time today to count your blessings.
Listen or look at what you are producing now, does it give you goose bumps?
Does your creative work bring you joy? Are the results, soul satisfying?
In PL, one day a month, we come together to celebrate our blessings, we call the celebration Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving is on the 21st of each month.

PL Precept #2 To Live Is to Express One’s Self..
When listening not with the ear, but with the spirit, one perceives subtle sounds. The deepest sound is silence. (Dao)
Always there are two sides. Positive – Negative, Male, Female, Sun – Moon, Day- Night, one compliments the other. There are times in my life when I am drawn to the lighter side of life, and other times where I find beauty and wonder in the darker arts. Yesterday I couldn’t stop reading a historical novel full of love and intrigue. Today I am deep into the meaning of enlightenment. I recently picked up the summer issue of Light of Consciousness, thought to take it on the trip with me to read during the long waits between flights. It proved to have so many articles in it that I wanted to spend time with, i.e. “Visions of the female Buddha” by Deborah Bowman, and Sleep Better with Mindfulness by Joseph Emet that I couldn’t wait to delve into its pages. Now of course it will stay here so that I don’t lose it while I’m travelling. I will pick up lighter fare for the trip, magazines that I won’t mind leaving behind for the next traveler.
In life it is important to continue along the spiritual path towards our goals. It is also important to know that our goals are not set in stone. As we develop and “mature” our needs change, what we wanted and needed a few years back, may not be where we are headed today. It is essential that we take the time to “meditate” and look at the positives as well as the negatives of our “now”, before we move on. Ask yourself, is it an appropriate time to act. The time to act is when you have the correct inner attitude, and the commitment to follow through on whatever it is you decide to do.
We are all different and have our own unique personalities and lifestyles. Therefore, how we practice PL to solve our problems, or to express our true selves will vary. In consultation with a PL minister, we receive guidance and support that is tailored to our individual needs.

The Value of Money and Things Depends on How You Choose to Use Them. Money and things are materials for your self expression. Use them to their fullest for the sake of others and society.
PL teaching day 30 > Listen With Your Heart and Your Mind. >When we are listening to someone, give them your fullest attention. Turning your body towards them, listen for the feeling behind their words so that you can truly understand what they are trying to tell you. >Listen With Your Heart and Your Mind.
It starts out innocent enough, our partner/boss or friend says something to us while we are busy working on a project or intent on something else. We heard part of what was said, think we understand, grunt, or reply in agreement and continue with what we are doing. We don’t stop what we are doing, and turn to listen to exactly what is being said, or why.( Remember that expression, listening with half a mind). At that moment, we really have no idea what we agreed to, or didn’t agree to. So later when something is expected of us, or we say something that provokes a very negative response in our partner,boss or friend, we are taken aback. We really haven’t a clue. AND depending on what the situation is/was, it can cause hard feelings, missed appointments, disappointment. When all it would have taken, was a few moments of consideration on our part, when addressed, to stop and listen with full attention, or to excuse one’s self and ask that the party wait a few moments, while you freed yourself from your current task. Remember – listen with an open heart and mind.

PL daily prayers – By praying on a regular basis, we strengthen our bond with God/Universe. Our true self will shine, we are able to overcome difficulties and live each moment “mindfully”. Coming to church and sharing in the teachings offered ensure that PL becomes part of your daily life. Check the website for contact information.
PL teaching day 28 > If you put your whole heart into whatever you do, you will be able to appreciate any task at hand. Take initiative in tackling your work or tasks. Act with Enthusiasm.
Vitality in nature – All nature is a song – have you ever spent time in a garden? Everywhere you look, there is some dynamic event in progress. In our garden it is an ever changing vista. Birds fly in and out, they bathe at the water feature, they search for tidbits of treats left behind by the squirrels that travel the highways (hydro and phone lines) that criss-cross between the properties. Insects scurry back and forth along their well worn paths under the vegetation. Gardens are a hive of activity. One day the flower buds are lifting their little faces to the sun, and it seems like the next day, the branches are heavy with tantalizing fruit. The smells of moist earth is strangely stirring, and the fact that no matter how well tended the garden is, there is constant entropy and disorder.
Yet…. all is as it should be, each and every part of the garden is living as it should. There is a natural rhythm in nature, we let it happen, Variety IS vitality. Each and everyone of us, has our own rhythm/song. It is up to each of us to sing as we feel moved by the over-all song of life. Harmonize with it …sing in counterpoint….descend into strange modes, chant, “go with the flow”
PL teaches us to pray in order to have good self expression. We need to strive to express ourselves joyfully, cheerfully and beautifully.
PL teaching for Day 20 > Have a Good Balance Between Mind and Body > Being overly concerned about things, or overexerting yourself physically will cause you to be off balance mentally and physically. Be careful not to overdo things.
PL teaching day 16 Let’s Be in Tune With the Times > We live in a world that is rapidly changing with the times. Let’s continue to keep up with the evolving trends of society and strive to broaden our horizons. <
My husband and I drove to the other end of the city today to a huge parking lot, to check out the different kinds of recreational vehicles that were on display. (Motor Homes, trailers,tents and the like) we were told there were over 600 parked in the numbered lots. Golf carts drove visitors around, and carried refreshments from one end of the event to the other. At one time, not all that long ago, the whole area was farm land, woodlands & country fields. We drove out there using the “super highway”, gone were the cows grazing contentedly in the pastures, sheep nibbling their way along a stream, a farmer tending to his crop. Now littered basically every couple of miles is a big super center for shopping. with all the big box stores making their presence known.
This is a popular venue, it is a yearly event. There were many couples there, all with an eye on what type of caravan would help chase a dream. A pop up that can be set up near some babbling brook, or along a sandy beach. A motor home that can be driven to a destination that will provide a sun filled winter without snow. So many possibilities. While we explored and enjoyed the day, in the end, we came home to our little “nest” in the heart of the city and tucked the information away for another time. Today is today, enjoy NOW.
Happiness & contentment is a treasured pearl within our own “Selves” How we tend and cultivate this pearl, is how well we will deal with the changes in the world around us.
