P1000117

Her website is  www.thymeagainmosaicstudio.com    Her studio is in Brockville, Ontario.  You can’t miss it, she has this wonderful door beckoning at the front end of her property.  As you walk down her lane, you will be delighted to see many of her whimsical creations.

P1000118

Before you get to her back door, you are delighted with the door you saw in the first post, and this wonderful sink art.

P1000114

She tells me that in summer it is full of colourful flowers, I was enchanted with it, just the way it was.

P1000113

Look her up. Victoria Gilpin, 920 Stewart Blvd. Brockville, Ontario. Doors for Norm

some doors will no longer close

when we look inside

we see the remnants of what was

meanwhile

other doors

are salvaged and become

a work of art

one door has been left to decay

another lived to

see and brighten another day

P1000115

doors reflect a lot of things

that is why

so many of us

love our doors.

Q

HAPPY  THURSDAY EVERYONE

The definition of staple in the dictionary is =  a main or important part of something.. this applies to many things in our lives.  As life has rolled along over the past years, with technology becoming more and more a part of our day to day lives.  One place and company that has become a staple in my life is “Staples” or known on the Quebec side as Bureau en Gros.

Staples.ca

Almost every Staples that I have gone into, whether here or in the USA have shown friendly staff, and good customer service.  Our local Staples. is  at 1233 Donald Street at  St. Laurent.  Ottawa, Ontario.  They look after my computer, iPad and any other technical dilemma I come up against  Thank you, Tom, Matt and Aaron   This location may be the smallest in the area, but it is always busy, people are always coming in, why.. cuz they may be small, but they give Excellent customer service.  They do every thing they can to help you resolve your problem and/or find what you need.

Eclipse

While I am saying thank you, I want to include a restaurant that I can visit, and know that I will enjoy the buffet.  the Eclipse has two locations, one in Ottawa on Innes Road,   Depending on when you want to go, Reservations are helpful if you want to ensure a table.  the other store is in Burlington  www.eclipseasiancuisine.com

Art is in the eye of the beholder.  the setting, the metal, tires left to bake in the sun, the lush green that is carpeting the area.  It was like a walk in my own private garden.  There were birds singing in the trees, just enough of a breeze that the vegetation danced lazily against the rusting metal.  Have you ever tried to capture all the different colours of rust.  Here the metal parts and pieces, all became works of art, just for me.

Today, I give thanks for all in life that makes me happy, and brings interest and flavour to my days.  For sure the  people in my  life are awesome, always a smile, always a lending or helping hand.  Life is good.  Happiness shared, is so satisfying …  Till next visit, thank you for dropping by.

We take pictures, that is what we do.. those of us with a camera at the end of our arms/fingers, we take pictures, some we use right away, some get filed away till we discover them another day.  Well this is Wordless Wednesday, and I thought, let’s have a look at previous files/folders.  There are several whippet owners out there, that have recently hooked up to my blog.  I thought I’d share a picture of our boy.  This is one that I couldn’t remember when I looked at the small previews.  I uploaded and there was the picture. While I was looking at the messy bed (he is great at messing the bed, our own whirling dervish) I saw this head behind him.  I knew it wasn’t me, I took the picture. I was I admit stumped for a second or two, wondering who was in the bed.

My hair is no longer that long, or black.  that did look like my pillow and it is where I would be.. What was going on ?  Then “bingo!” the light went on.  Those of you who know us, have probably guessed already. I couldn’t believe that I didn’t know, I really had to question what had happened.

There you have it, our secret it out…. the dogs have taken over the bedroom.  Wordless Wednesday it is…. Enjoy mid-week everyone… if you live with a whippet or Porti, be aware, they have minds of their own. Before you know it, they have you trained. =^_^=

green everywhere

P1000140

I am blown away by some of the photographs that fellow bloggers post.  There are several who capture the most amazing pictures of flowers, not just the flower, but their artist reproduction of it as they see it through their lens is very interesting.

P1000141

Living in the city, right next to the downtown core, the object of our landscaping when we bought, was to allow nature to grow and give us a bit of country in our own private space.  Perennials were fine while the trees and shrubs were growing, but as the bones of the garden grew, the perennials soon lost their place in the sun. Add two active dogs to the mix, and…  …. we now enjoy the serenity of an escape from the concrete and buildings around us, but have lost the colour of the annuals and perennials.

P1000146

This is only the beginning of June.  The garden is only beginning its journey into the growing seasons.  So when I say “Wow, amazing” to my wonderful blogger pals, it is because I’m totally enjoying life through your photography and stories.  Thank you.

Life is gray without friends, my world is full of colour, I am truly blessed.

a bit of fun, I collect a treasure now and then from my trips… Have a wonderful start to the new week everyone! Thinking of you!

Hogs back water 1 (6-5-2016 1-02 PM)

In Ottawa, we have an area we call Hogs Back, no, sorry I don’t know why, it has just always been called that.  On one side of the roadway, the water rushes, tumbles and crashes over rocks, the view and the sounds can be very exhilarating.  Yet the park land around it, is tranquil, peaceful and a joy to experience.

P1000063

I found this beauty parked just sitting there while driving down the highway.  Obviously I couldn’t just drive by, I wanted a closer look.  Usually when one is drawn to something, there is a reason, for it.

P1000067The owner was not around, I did enquire, so I couldn’t get a story on this particular car, but I did discover that this car and others that I will use over the while, belong, or are in the charge of a company called  The Sports Car Factory (restoration and fabrication)  how cool is that.  Their address and coordinates will be found at the end of this blog.

P1000068

Old cars/trucks tell a story.  I love finding one, the workmanship, the detail, the lines. they aren’t merely functional, often the car will have its very own story to tell.

P1000084

What we see, is not always the full story, our eyes focus and see what is before them, we will look around us,  and then settle on the view that is most pleasing to us. When I visit Hogs Back, I tend to walk over to the water, I like to gaze down at the swirling mass of water that is travelling at its own pace,  going along with the pull of nature, to wherever it will lead.  I can’t see beyond the upper layers of cascading foam and liquid motion.  But I know it is there, under the water that I see, lies another world, it is there even though I cannot see it.

The same applies to the cars.  In whatever state I find them, I know that their  sum total is only part of what is there.  So why as a human do I often find myself accepting what appears obvious, but in reality is only 1/2 a story, or one of many possibilities.

There you are, Saturday in part, I have so much to assimilate and discover… the  lens captures one second of the day,  the rest will make its way to the top, sometime, somewhere along the way.

It was a great day

it made room for today

=^_^=
