the invisible ride

Riding free into the Universe, a fantasy so near, yet so far. The horse so elegant, graceful and unerring in its dance as it races across the lands, passing the many landscapes, gaining speed, till its hooves travel on air into the stratosphere.

I have driven by this sculpture many times. I’ve seen it, but never stopped to really gaze and wonder at its beauty. Why in life do we hurry to and fro, missing so much along the way. How is it that we are blind to the beauty that sits waiting for us to realize, “ITs Presence.

Today,. I saw, today I explored, and now, I know, the creativity and love that went into forging and working the metal into the majestic piece of art that now, I will never forget.

The shortcut to progress is to listen with a humble mind. If you are stuck in your own ways, you will eventually become bogged down. let’s remember to be humble, learning what we can from the knowledge, advice and suggestion of others.

oh do get on with it

I am trying to sleep

tsk, groaning and moaning over metal and chrome

honestly woman, you have me

I am here with you at home

metal and chrome, are cold

I am soft and warm

best of all .. I don’t rust

my words you can trust

It is true, I do have conversations with my dog.  she inspires some good ideas with her feedback.  It can take me a day or two to unravel her wisdom…but if she can get me to understand the jumble that often tumbles from my mind, why not…

Last year when my Mother was bidding farewell to her years on earth, my sister who was staying with her. Passed the time, drawing and colouring, memories of another time.

Change happen, with “progress” comes destruction, to “make way” for “infill”  buildings that are meant to fill in where older homes , single family homes with laneways, garages that held the cars that used to fit inside them, and usually have pretty front lawns, and backyards, big enough for small patios and gardens, either filled with flowers in season, or vegetables.

Now these homes when their owners pass away, are taken over by builders who tear them down, and put in two homes on a lot that was meant for one.  Usually, architecture that is cold and sterile.  Forget a lawn or garden spaces. Cement, pavement and more cold man-made materials, usually in various shades of grays and blacks.  Garages if there, are usually part of the main floor, still usually too small for the bigger cars of today, so they end up always outside parked on the single space of the paved front of the dwelling.

Sad, but that is progress. If you are near, or can easily get to green space.  Treasure it. Take the time to enjoy it. Listen to the birds when they visit (if they do) enjoy the fresh earthly smells of spring,  and watch as the young flowers unfold to embrace another season of “life”

Life, can be fleeting.  Live in the moment.  Enjoy each and every second of your day.  don’t wait till it fades away.

Me and rust

If there is rust, I’ll find it.  I love the way it grows and expands, changing as it ages. Ok it is not for everyone.  To my artist’s eye it has a melody all its very own. Left to slowly decompose, erode and oxidize  it has  patina and look that is unique, like a snowflake.  At least it does to my eye.

I have a whole section of film that is all rust.  For now it is part of my private collection.  When I want inspiration, I can play it back and let each image dance across the screen in slow motion. Oooohhh so powerful.

Smiles out at her friends.. that is why that expression that has been around for ages, is so fitting here… “to each his/her own”

Happy start of the week my lovelies.  May it be successful, productive and happy.

NH fever

IMG_2952

Spring fever, the desire to be outside, to be part of the awakening vegetation.  I could almost see the grass turning a deeper shade of green right before my eyes,

IMG_2944

I probably passed this drain many many times, last year, but this year, Wow, it popped up, and mesmerized me with its geometric design.

IMG_2950

Of course I’ve seen the brilliant yellow early flower of the forsythia bush, but in NH it was even brighter and more beautiful against the green of its companion Juniper or was it a Yew.  Who cares, it was a delight.

AND really have you ever seen a better piece of art.  Made in the good ole USA. =^_^=

Art is everywhere.                Discovering in NH (New Hampshire )!!   what a great way to spend leisure time.

be still my heart

Chrome… beautiful shining chrome.some women love diamonds, they are nice, however, a well looked after bike, all polished up and warm from the ride.. Aaaahhh bliss.

p1000568The rider had stopped for a break, I was close enough to the bike I could hear her settling down, the little pings, and noises that she made… what a beautiful sound. I toured her, and enjoyed viewing her.  I believe that even inanimate objects know when they are loved and cared for.  This lady had to purr when she was on the highway.  Her owner took really good care of her.  She had every right to be proud.

p1000567I did meet the owner ,=^_^= , when I was asked how did I know who owned the bike, I needed only to look, they must have cut quite the figure when the two of them took to the roads.  Thank you Paul for being so courteous to someone who fell in love with  your very special “lady”.

PL Principle # 3 – I will live with a mind of appreciation towards others and things..

Never limit your dreams… appreciate the world around you… One second can be a lifetime. The time spent with that Harley had the excitement and thrill of delightful flirtation that took bloom and flew into the  storehouse of my daydreams.  It was a WOW factor

WE should all have them.. =^_^=

Riding such a bike on an open stretch of road, (secondary road) through valleys, hillsides.. would be AMAZING… The freedom of the open road, skies over head stretching out into forever, Yum….. no radios. no electronic gadgets, just the purring of the engine, and “man” riding as one. YESSSSS

Left to?

Trolling Pinterest the other day, I came across this photo.  It caught my attention, you know me and rusted out metal.  I liked it enough to post it to my board on old vehicles .. then I moved on and thought really nothing more about it.  This morning, a bing alerted me to an incoming message… someone wanted to know, how anyone could leave such a beauty to simply rot and decay.  I had no answer, but it did get me to thinking.

da876e881488239b4c66acddcb17fff7

What is it, why do we do this.  This was a wooded area for about 70 years in Chatillon, Belgium, it was home to one of the largest car cemeteries in the world (found on Pinterest)  Obviously I am not alone in my love of “old” rusted out beauties.  Yes, I say beauties those of us on the hunt, even wax poetically about the shades of rust.  AND we will wander into fields, back woods, where ever there is a hint of a “capture”  Yet I won’t go on a picnic or eat outside at a cafe, cuz the bugs will annoy me!  Go figure!

If I see or meet someone who has found a treasure and fixed it up.  Man that is someone I want to meet.  And you know I’m going after a picture, and the story.  But. for some reason, I have never asked the question, why abandon a car/truck in the first place.

Does anyone know or want to fathom a guess?

HAPPY  THURSDAY EVERYONE

Chop Suey today 6.8.16

The definition of staple in the dictionary is =  a main or important part of something.. this applies to many things in our lives.  As life has rolled along over the past years, with technology becoming more and more a part of our day to day lives.  One place and company that has become a staple in my life is “Staples” or known on the Quebec side as Bureau en Gros.

Staples.ca

Almost every Staples that I have gone into, whether here or in the USA have shown friendly staff, and good customer service.  Our local Staples. is  at 1233 Donald Street at  St. Laurent.  Ottawa, Ontario.  They look after my computer, iPad and any other technical dilemma I come up against  Thank you, Tom, Matt and Aaron   This location may be the smallest in the area, but it is always busy, people are always coming in, why.. cuz they may be small, but they give Excellent customer service.  They do every thing they can to help you resolve your problem and/or find what you need.

Eclipse

While I am saying thank you, I want to include a restaurant that I can visit, and know that I will enjoy the buffet.  the Eclipse has two locations, one in Ottawa on Innes Road,   Depending on when you want to go, Reservations are helpful if you want to ensure a table.  the other store is in Burlington  www.eclipseasiancuisine.com

Art is in the eye of the beholder.  the setting, the metal, tires left to bake in the sun, the lush green that is carpeting the area.  It was like a walk in my own private garden.  There were birds singing in the trees, just enough of a breeze that the vegetation danced lazily against the rusting metal.  Have you ever tried to capture all the different colours of rust.  Here the metal parts and pieces, all became works of art, just for me.

Today, I give thanks for all in life that makes me happy, and brings interest and flavour to my days.  For sure the  people in my  life are awesome, always a smile, always a lending or helping hand.  Life is good.  Happiness shared, is so satisfying …  Till next visit, thank you for dropping by.
