What colour are you today?

What colour is your world today? Have you ever been asked that before. It was a popular question back in the days when I was still working at the hospital. In Psychology colour testing, and rating was the newest topic of discussion. In the world of Fashion, the colours you liked to wear, or leaned to, gave expression to.. are you fall? spring> winter? each season of course had a rainbow of colours that went with them.

Colour symbolism is one of the most universal of types of symbolism and has been consciously used in the liturgy in heraldry, alchemy, art and literature. If you were to make yourself a “talisman” today, what colour would it be? I remember giving an art class one day where the participants decided it would be fun to do a good luck talisman as their challenge of that day, Their first choice was what the object would be, and the second was what colours they wanted to use.

Personally over the years, I have gravitated to “earth” tones, but suddenly I would take a nose dive into the brighter gemstone colours, for some reason, though I love these bright cheerful colours, I prefer to wear more subtle and darker colours. With the aging process, that has fluctuated but only in small degrees. I fell in love with a pair of a capris that were a beautiful jewel tone of amethyst, fit like a dream and are super comfortable. I’ve worn them maybe once, but I won’t pass them on, my hand will linger on them when dressing, but when push comes to shove, the familiar, stand by me, faded jeans, or worn gray win out.
In life, situations and people drift in and out of our daily waking lives, often much like the colour palette we all seem to have in one form or another in our lives, and how we interact, or “see” these “visitors” actually colours are days/nights.

**note to readers ** a glimpse behind the scenes the software of this website, just dropped the last 15 minutes of my visit with you…. I saw shades of black, then red…. sigh.. now I’m back to a neutral zone, since I feel reconnected. computers, what to do with them.. rhetorical question of course. *** end of insert

Here we go. I’ve added some colour, Ahhh… that’s better.. lighter, pastel, muted… still colour. this is what life is all about isn’t it. We chose what colour to present ourselves with when we dress, and we “chose” how to respond to situations in our lives. Some get passionate responses, bright vivid colours… other times, we are accepting, life flows along, when a bump or detour happens, we can be colorful or very dark, depending on the situation. When we hurt, colours don’t harmonize, they clash. If we get sick, we can look completely washed out.

Lets start our colour palette with a smile…. that always works…. Be Happy today and always. Let’s create a rainbow day!

Happy Monday the 30th. September

Well dear reader, today is the day, tomorrow will be October 1. October is the first day of a month of bewitching crafts,art pieces,ATCs,fun with my paper and embellishment supplies, all month I get to play. Of course it wasn’t always this way, at one time I had a 9-5 commitment that took time away from doing fun things,like draw witches and goblins, graveyards and bats, decorate envelopes before sending out a greeting to a fellow artist and friend.
We are never too old to express ourselves with markers and stickers. Wish we had dollar stores in the bygone years.

PL Precept #1…Life is Art

If you are an artist, or craft person, writer,architect,parent,cook, housekeeper, it doesn’t really matter what we do that fills our world with “fun”, we find a way to get what we want to do done.

In life,in all situations, I try to apply the same attention and attitude to all challenges and detours I find in my path.

When the enthusiasm is there even if not a “perfect: day, it is a “worthwhile” day, I live and learn. we are asked to Listen with our hearts and minds to those around us, to give them our full attention. I’ve had to learn to do that for myself as well.

Some days I just have to retreat, and have a “me” day. What was the expression used at work,”a wellness day”. The fall for me is a time to come alive, I know to many it is spring that does it for them, me… give me a fall day anytime.

Fall is when we get to do fun things for the N. American Halloween, and the start of the gift making for the holidays.
The Canadian Thanksgiving and the American one are on different days. And of course in PL we celebrate EVERY MONTH!

Enjoy today everyone, do something special for yourself or a loved one. Think ahead to the delightful crisp fresh rejuvenating days of October. Don’t groan, as they say in the egg business, Get Cracking!

Live each day with excitement

PL teaching – Live Each Day With Excitement > Challenge everything with enthusiasm. You will be rewarded with joy and encounter happy occurrences.

I am back from the most amazing time away, where each and every day was a new challenge. The rewards were many and the happy encounters and memories made, endless. There is no way that I can begin to tell you, or share with you all that has happened to me in the last 9 days. As I took in the country, the people, the environment, and all that went with the days and nights away in this remarkable country called Japan, I knew that it was a new chapter in my journey of self discovery. the images and sounds, the friends made, in one word, it was all profound. A simple egg – became not just an egg, but a “wow”, the taste was different and the colour of the yoke was as bright as the sun. Telling you this is so mundane, you had to be there, I thought a dye had been used, but I was assured that no this was the colour of the yoke in Japan. Certainly in every other instance I had to see a yoke it was the same intense orange.

Be assured that as the days progress and my mind recovers from the jet lag, I will be recounting the many moments/insights and learning, much is still being assimilated and processed. I was there to learn, I was on a pilgrimage, the Director of the International Office of PL – Rev. Tokuo Itagaki, and his team of assistants and staff did an amazing job. the Rev. Fukito Kimura who coordinated the Rensei Training was outstanding. It was a phenomenal experience.

There were hundreds of people there trying to communicate with one another, The main languages being Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish (Castellano), we were only 5 English, 4 USA and 1 Canadian (yours truly), we came together because of our faith and dedication to PL (Perfect Liberty).

For the Founders Day Ceremony ( Kyososai), August 1. PL followers came by the bus load. We are talking of thousands of people who came to worship/pray and celebrate. During service, as promised I held you all close to my heart so that the blessings could be shared with you. Oshieoya-sama’s presence brought total silence and reverence, it was totally awesome. The flames spell out LIFE IS ART

Sometimes,it takes awhile

I once was wild about working with gourds. I built or created a bird house with one. It hung from a tree in the back garden. with time and weather it fell and the neck broke off. For some reason I was loath to just throw it away. The main body was rehung, but I kept the neck saving it till I could get back to it. I know that each and every other artist out there has done this in some way, the part of a song that you just can’t finish or get that special riff for. I moved this broken piece of gourd from one place in my work space to another.
Finally this past spring, it was just what I needed to try a new product with.
Once I had made up my mind, things just began to happen.
I can turn it in different directions, and each side gives me a different “story” “view”.. I had no idea what it was, or what to do with it. but.. the finished product made me smile and made me happy. It was a visual tactile expression I needed to express at that time! No more no less.

There is a teaching in PL. Once you make up your mind, things will happen. Once you decide you are going to do something, your enthusiasm and focus (mindfulness) will bring forth results. God/Universe will give you aid when you need it most.

Living life as Art, means, go with the flow, create and express yourself, the challenges in life are there to allow us to grow and stretch our talents. God/TAO is everywhere, and in all things. Always. Strive to live in Perfect Liberty (PL)

Plan B

What started out this lovely coastal blue with white contrast , turned a dull unbecoming drab blue when I photographed it. Will have another go with the camera later, here it is after some” photo shop”. Purple is a spiritual colour, so I’m happy with the digital changes till next time I get to play =^_^=

Letting Go

Letting Go I will be leaving soon for Japan, finally, the time is drawing near. Next week. I will be leaving all my electronic gadgets at home and boarding a plane for an island far away, one that I have only read about or seen on travel shows. I know that this trip will change my life forever. It is a trip I have waited for, for a very long time. 1. Rensei training, PL’s unique spiritual,mental and physical training, conducted only at the PL Holy Land. By participating in this specially blessed training, one’s state of mind can be purified and we can embody the PL teachings. 2. I will be there for the annual Founders’ Day Ceremony, a power packed event that ends with an hour long display of the world’s greatest fireworks “The Art of PL Fireworks” I am being asked so many questions from friends and family. Will I take pictures, will I sight see, will I shop? Nothing is further from my mind. In preparation I have been meditating, and praying not only to try to prepare for this experience, but to accept the Letting Go of the part of “me” that will not be coming back. Daily I’ve been cleaning out, & paring down of material possessions. With each piece I pass along, the more the physical space becomes uncluttered,, the more serene I become. PL teaching day 17..Always Challenge Yourself With New things... Life is interesting because we always encounter unknown or new situations that we have never experienced before. Proactively challenge each new situation. Meanwhile, our new Sr. Minister (Rev. Eugene) arrives this week, we will meet Saturday for a special ceremony, and Sunday the 21st we will all celebrate Thanksgiving together. The PL community will gather to meet and greet. Remember when you first began to explore the storybook worlds of “Once upon a time” and “they lived happily ever after” Today after a lifetime of experiences,we know that these stories were not the realities of life. However, in each and every one of us, there still lives that bubble of delight for being enchanted and charmed.
In following the teachings of PL, and doing our very best to live in the moment, life does become happier and the enthusiasm for more is intoxicating. Blessings!
