Others are others, I am I. If you force your values about anything on others it can be self righteous. Don’t be overeager and have and have a sense of “Others are others, “I am I’

Ancestors Day the 11th of each month. Ceremony at 10 a.m. Where we will express our gratitude for the love and virtues of our ancestors. We continue to ask for guidance and to live the PL Way.
PL Precept #20 Live maintaining equilibrium between mind and matter.
Make today a “give back day” We can live our daily lives owning to our ancestors, our elders and the work of our predecessors. Above all, kindness to others is the best way to give back.
Good morning everyone.. some of you may have already seen this cartoon. My sister sent it to me, it resonated with me in many ways. When I told a friend about it, she remarked she had seen it already on Facebook. Of course my sister sent it to me because she is the “happy” sister with a sense of humour, and I had been moaning to her about having to cope with ongoing symptoms of the fall I had,.. How it had me home more than I liked.. and taking more naps than I wanted to.. blah blah blah…
We all at times, reflect on, or focus on something … that really,,, if we step back, and look at the positives that the change(s) has/have made… we see the world in a totally different light. That picture not only made me smile (a good happy smile) the saying ” whomever you’re important to… will look for you.” clicked and stayed with me. I hear it now repeat itself often out of the blue… It is so simple and so true. Thanks Sis!

Let’s find the good in others and Praise them. All people have good and bad qualities. Focus on the good in others and applaud them every chance you get.

‘THANK YOU” again and again. It feels great if someone says Thank YOU, to you, even many times. By repeating this, become a person who comes up with the words “Thank You” naturally.
There are days when we simply don’t want to face the world, sunshine or not. We want or need time to rest, to invest in our selves. It is all part of the “maturing” process. Take life as it comes, in little steps.
“Give importance to listening, looking, thinking, doing and speaking. Look and listen carefully before making a judgement. Assumptions and hasty conclusions can lead to misunderstandings.
Always be humble. If you work on things with attitude of asking a favour people around you will advise you what they have noticed. There’s something in fact you are not aware of that you do.
This is how I feel right now. Old but still standing… debris all around and feeling a tad “useless’ have spent the last many hours trying to figure out how to use this new laptop, find where things are, the biggest headache was changing the keyboard to good old English. Something I took for granted with my other PCs, tablets etc. This brand new laptop comes with a bilingual keyboard, it just never occurred to me that it would want to type in French. Sigh. a learning curve it will be.
Don’t give up! Keep at it until you accomplish what you’ve started. The key to achieving something is to stick to it. If you are able to finish, you will be sure to accomplish it no matter how difficult the task is.
Once more I have come face to face with the unexpected “goodbye” of a fellow traveler .. someone who brought smiles into your day when he would walk by, share a moment, or simply wave. always a lopsided smile, a big wide eyed grin.. There are such people in the world, they radiate happy… during a winter storm, you are trying to dig through the big dump of snow at the end of the laneway, and along would come Johnny, “not to worry” he’d day, I’ll get that. And he would. He’d stop what he was doing and come over to help you clear the way so you could get out.
He was young, only in his early 50’s. He walked into the bedroom to change (he and his girlfriend were going to paint the bedroom) keeled over and died. Presto! gone! He’d been looking so good, he was walking every day, his colour was wonderful, I saw him just the other day, he was beaming, when he came to the door, I tell you, he was so genuine in his outlook. Now that light is gone, and we, family, friends, neighbours, will miss his delightful energy.
A shared passion .. love of nature, being outdoors, simply taking in life. As I walked along the edges of the forest yesterday, I took in the changes that were taking place… the season is changing, the weather is cooler. Where the big thrasher had gone along and cleared all in its path, new growth was taking over, the remnants of bigger stumps of wood were scattered … I spent time wandering, head down, intent on the wood left behind, looking for clues, messages from beyond.
It is that time of year, for some it is Yom Kippur, for me this time of year, is one where the clock turns over for me and I enter another phase/chapter – so the life long tradition of meditation on what was.. what is.. and how I am doing is all happening .. it has been a lot to take in. So much has been happening around me. As we age, we say goodbye ..far too many times. Unlike in the Jewish tradition there is fasting along with the reflections.. I spend time reflecting, and meditating on how and why I am in the “frame of mind” I’m in.
The time spent in nature helps me a lot. Yesterday I gathered wood, and spent time rearranging pieces (like a puzzle) to build a picture.
Life IS, we ARE no more no less

curried lentil veggie soup – will I make it again NO, was it good, yes.. it was OK..
I had forgotten how much goes into making up a batch of homemade soup, In the crock pot what you see is the remains of two freshly cut up chicken carcasses. still raw.. they were cleaned and then put in the soup bag to cook to make the chicken stock. (salt/pepper garlic to taste) The garlic was fresh from MC’s garden.
Veggies I used, were fresh from the Asian grocery store yesterday morning. The prep time was done in stages, since I was making the chicken stock from scratch. Should ever I get foolish enough to do this again, I would use a stronger curry, I had taken the mild to be on the safe side. (green lentils and some dried soup stuff from a package, rice, beans etc.)
You can see some of the ingredients. mushroom, cauliflower, gourd, carrots garlic in several forms.. No onion and I still had a reaction when I tasted it last night. I suspect it was the coconut, since I used the whole can.. I could have made up a pretty bowl of it to show you how it serves up.. but hey! its soup. Making soup from scratch is another item I’ll put on my – Nope, done that, been there … list. Too much work, especially I live alone.. like duh…
Oh dear.. someone needs to get out and drive out to the woodlands …
LOL you ask, how often do I eat soup during the month… 0 yes that’s a zero. I will admit, it smells divine when cooking, and it does taste good.. but for me, is it worth the time and effort.. no.. But one never knows unless one gives it a try .. right! right!
