a new chapter begins

Ms Rosie June 7.17

As the miles sped by, Rosie wondered what her new home would be like.  She knew that she would like being with young people again, it was such a delight to watch them go from teen girls to young adults.  It was already past the supper hour, so she would have only a short time with them before it would be time to call it a day.

The few belongings she had and her grandmother’s old dresser had already been sent on ahead, with luck, there would be time for a nice long bath, and some time to write in her diary.

Back at the  house the girls were tidying up.  They had been told that  Rosie would be arriving, they wanted the place to look clean and tidy.  The old dresser had been moved into what would be Rosie’s room, they hoped that when  Rosie arrived, they would get a chance to see it up close and ask her about it.

Unfortunately it was the next day before they got to meet and greet Rosie.  There had been a delay,  Rosie had gotten in after their bedtime.

Rosie unpacking

Rosie got to settle into her new “home” at her own pace, and in her own time.  Since the girls had not been up when she got in. It would be so nice to fall into bed.  Her room had been nicely set up. and her dresser was ready for her to unpack before getting ready for bed.  Already she had ideas on how she would fix up her private space.

Tomorrow would be another day.  Plenty of time to meet the girls and see what kind of projects she could do with them.

Sometimes in life we have plans, but due to circumstances beyond our control, things don’t work out the way we would like them to, or as we expected they would.

That is when it is important to accept the changes, and appreciate the time we have gained to do something else.

story time — curiosity + patience

The girls watched silently, waiting for the music to come closer.  To their dismay, it stopped, and they were nowhere near figuring out where it was coming from.  They first heard the music when the old dresser was moved to where it now stood in the sun room.

Not just one of them had heard it, they all had. It reminded Kit of the music box her grandmother once had.  She looked all around the room, but there was no music box, or any other object that looked like one.

China’s eyes were big with wonder. The music had made her think of the time that the school had visited the big department store during the Christmas holidays.  The teacher had wanted them to see the big window display with all the coloured lights and sparkling snowflakes.  The elves had been busy in Santa’s workshop the happy music had filled the room as they happily hummed  while packing all the presents for Santa’s big night.

Did it have something to do with the old dresser?  If only they could get closer without making a lot of noise or drawing attention to themselves.  They were supposed to be in bed.  Ginger the eldest of the girls, was supposed to be doing her chores, but Kit saw her peeking out from the other room.  Everyone was interested.

“Bedtime girls, I’ll be in shortly to say goodnight.” sigh, they knew that it would be tomorrow before they would be given a clue or information.. If Q was coming to tuck them in… that meant, it was going to be lights out.  Scampering back to their respective rooms, they climbed back into bed.  Being patient was going to be hard.

As Q tucked them in, she whispered “tomorrow is another day, you will have lots of time to explore and look around” China and Kit whispered as Q moved on to see Chen-May and Leonie “what Precept do you think will help us be patient and allow things to progress at their own pace”  giggling China said, “Q is always reminding us of our lessons”  with that, both girls closed their eyes and let their anticipation and dreams carry them into the magical land  of sleep.

How wild does their garden grow

wow I don’t know said Mr Crow

For years now I come to explore

each passing year brings new colour in the rows

see the roses are in full bloom right now

&  cherries are forming on the trees

come back in a week or two

the Saskatoon berries will be a feast

bring friends, this garden is here for us

nice meeting you Mr Crow,

my  name is Jay

in a flash of blue he was off

cawing as he flew

I’ll be back to  see you soon

Rosco chuckled as he flew higher up the tree

life is good when

friends drop in showing appreciation and enjoy their visit

he liked being called Mr. Crow

Mr. indeed, and he chuckled some more

could he be getting old

in full voice, he cawed and called out

Happy Sunday everyone!

Friday and I’m not ready

AG dolls V V Mervale 6.20.17

Every day is a new opportunity to discover something new about our”selves”  In my case, the dolls  who have come to live with me, are teaching me new ways to enjoy my creative abilities. You can see from the little group that drew me to them on the 20th. at a “by invitation only” preview, that they were a motley lot.  The preview was at one of the chain Thrift shops, that officially opened its doors this morning at 8:30a.m..  (The ribbon cutting ceremony, I missed)  Why.. I had to have both my eyes redone, this time they used laser.

I digress… back to the dolls each one had to be cleaned and re”strung” (their limbs tightened)  This meant taking off their heads and removing all the stuffing.  While their heads were off, I cleaned their hair.  Normally, I wouldn’t have gone looking for such a task, I had my fill of stuffing toys and doing limbs when I was in the bear making phase.

There is an expression that eludes me at the moment, as I am distracted by the black floaters I have in my eyes, (to be expected, said the specialist)  I didn’t have to think about it, I just did it.  I had been told there are YouTube videos on how to.. but I just knew.  Our brains act like our own memory card, when you need to do something, instinctively you set to it, and it is done.

Much like typing…  I’ve typed for years, (touch typing) so I don’t think of how to type, I just do it.  The PL Precepts, and Principles, and the training we get in PL, (Perfect Liberty) help us to hone our creativity and skills.  For this I am thankful, and appreciate my gray matter and my faith for allowing me to recognize that having God in my life, and living by the Precepts and Principles, enables me to do and achieve the things in life that I want to do.

Challenges and opportunities are gifts.  Seeing the transformations, makes me smile, and having the awareness that all I am, and all I do, is a reflection in my commitment to God and living the “PL Way” well.. that makes for a very happy me.

Here it is, another day coming to an end… Friday is just around the corner.. and I have no idea, what us in store for me tomorrow, isn’t that grand.  What-ever, I know it will be another wonderful day.

PL Precept # 21 Live in Perfect Liberty

Fourth doll has been adopted  I’ll be seeing her again on Monday, meanwhile we are getting ready for Canada Day.. We Celebrate 150 years.

Chop suey Saturday

With skies gray and the ongoing threat of a storm hovering overhead I drove along heading to my various destinations, my mind busy sorting through the different ideas I had for today’s blog.

The discrimination I felt yesterday, that resulted in some mental exercises on my part, to decipher why I was allowing someone else’s ignorant behaviour to waste my time.

PL Precept # 4 Being annoyed limits your expression

PL Precept # 5 One’s Self is lost by being emotional

I did have to cogitate on the experience, and verbalize what had happened to my patient, understanding husband.  His concern that I was alright, was warming, and I soon let go of the incident and moved on.  But, in those minutes while I fumed, I considered writing a letter to the manager,or contacting their head office, etc etc.  Then as the moments passed and life around me took an a different hue, the further we drove away towards our next destination, I thought why waste my time.

Today I got a notice from Apple, there was a charge on it that was foreign to me, it was dated today, it was for $1.46  Not much I know.  But what was it for?  when you click on the charge it doesn’t describe what it was for, and when you try to find out, Whoa Becky! You need a road map just to get to customer service.  When you call, you are put on hold and they after waiting for over 10 minutes, you get hung up on. Try again, and guess what, it happens again.  It is only 1.46, but it is the principle of it all.

If someone has fraudulently used my card number, 1.46 or not… it has to be addressed. This means a trip downtown tomorrow to the Apple store. gas, my time, Bah humbug!

oops.    PL Precept # 4 Being Annoyed Limits your Expressions.

PL Precept # 5  One’s Self is lost by being Emotional

All this to say, my day aside from the nattering of my chipmunk mind, has been good, in fact, most of it was VERY good

Thank you for listening to the imperfections of the day, I will sleep soundly this evening, and have a grand day tomorrow.  Service is at 10:00 a.m. see you then.

Dolls and life

3 friends, Vanilla,ChenMay,Kit

Once upon a time.  Remember the stories we were read when we were children. I don’t recall too many of them now, but I do seem to recall they all had happy endings.  Lately I’ve been introduced to the new dolls that are on the market, perhaps I shouldn’t say new, because they have been around, they are “new” to me.

It has been a delight to discover that there are many different cultures represented in the choices, however one does have to search them out.  I found one  the other day that had been discarded, she was no longer “perfect”

Someone, had given her a very bad haircut, and she had lost patches of her hair.  It was a sad face that looked back at me when I found her in the store.  She came home for a spa day, the next day I took her in and the kind lady pierced her ears for me.  I had thought to take her to the doll club meeting earlier this week.  She was very happy with her new look, unfortunately it didn’t work out that she was able to accompany me to the meeting, but I have promised her an outing soon.,

sitting pretty with her doggie 6.11.17At the doll club meeting, I learned a lot about some of the work that is being done with dolls, especially in health care.  Dolls are brought in to visit Alzheimer patients, with heart warming results.  There was also talk about organizing a tea party for young girls and boys, who would like to  revisit a social custom that many no longer share or participate in.

I myself learned that my new “young lady” was the right “doll” to introduce to others, the fact that we all go through different “phases” in our lives, and sometimes, we are left with visible signs of our “trauma”.. that doesn’t change who we are, we are still beautiful in our own unique way. And more often than naught, we are a better, and stronger person for the  challenges we faced and overcame.

I see dolls in a totally different way now as an adult.  I am amazed at how dolls have changed (varieties) over the years, yet, now as always, they still infect us with a love that transcends age.

Share a hug today.  Reintroduce a doll into your life =^_^=

Egg Roll Tuesday

do egg rolls count as calories

only if you admit to having one

what if they are baked

and not fried

really .. would it still be an egg roll

OK, I will go back out to the garden

pretend we never had

this conversation

you decide

I say

no egg roll,

no calorie

but then, what do I know…

so YOU know

they are homemade

a calorie, will never hide

there is no lying

the real you

will always know

whether you admit to it

or not

Q

bake for 30 minutes

Chance inspiration…

prince edward 2011 sand banks

 off in the distance

 silence beckons

if by chance

you are nearby

your spirit hears the call

and no matter

where you are

no matter the day or night

you are blessed

with a vision that goes

beyond

into eternity
