PL Precept #21 Live maintaining equilibrium between mind and matter…

This lovely picturesque grouping is of Giethoom in the Nederlands where there are no roads. It is a beautiful and quiet village unique in that you will not find a single road in the entire town. Instead it is connected with paths, bike trails and a canal system. Visitors are welcome to explore by renting a noiseless, electric “whisper boat”. I have been enchanted with the idea of visiting ever since I read about the place.

We all lead busy, at times hectic lives, and finding that quiet time we need so much often eludes us. We grab moments here and there, but often they just are not enough. In PL we have a Precept, # 5 that says.. One’s self is lost by being emotional.

The 21 PL Principles help us to achieve the 21 PL Precepts that we live by. Like everyone we struggle at the best of times to get then right, or to effortlessly follow them, but in following PL Principle #1 – I will live paying careful attention, putting Makoto into all I say and do (Makoto/sincerity) as best we can, dedication towards that goal helps enormously.

To be easy going, and to live life constantly in a cheerful and calm state is something to strive for. When I’m challenged, then I revisit the Holland of my dreams, and let my mind wander effortlessly through the gardens, and sail the waterways. Care to join me today? You are all so precious to me, I wish for you a glorious sun filled day , no matter where you are, no matter the weather, let the joy of life, bless you with a soothing balm of love. Thank you for sharing this moment with me, I really truly appreciate the time you spend with me. nb** there are many styles of Kokeshi dolls, you can spend endless hours researching and looking them up. They have been around for years and years. I’m not sure which I prefer most, the vintage, antique ones, or the more modern, Enjoy.

Bruce Lee

In my younger years, I remembered Bruce Lee as Kato, the actor who played along side the Green Hornet on a television show that I watched on the black and white telly we had, with the one station. Being Chinese in Canada in years gone by meant you were a an oddity. You stood out like a sore thumb and there was no way you could not know that you were “different: from the other people in the community in which you lived. My Father was a wise man who taught me to live life with appreciation. To accept and do my best to understand the difference we all have, and how unique each individual is. By seeing those who taunted and rejected me without really knowing me, as a lesson, teachers of another side of a coin if you will. I learned to dismiss their actions as a part of who they were, and to move on. These same youngsters were soon my playmates. We are still in contact today. I have been blessed with knowing that they feel that in getting to know me they learned about an other culture and how it was a positive in their lives.

During the early years of my practice, martial arts became the “new fad” The buzz was to take up a discipline and become another “Bruce Lee”.. It was always an honour for me when young man/woman would come to my door asking for assistance in his/her developement. NO I was not teaching a Martial Art technique, I was a teacher of the TAO, and worked with students and clients to help them deal with the daily stress they encountered in navigating their lives.

I soon learned that my childhood hero Kato, was Bruce Lee and that he had a lot of things to say about life. I also learned that he had a huge following. His wisdom, dedication and focus on his craft was legendary.

There has been so much written about him and his philosophy on life. You can find all kinds of information by just typing in his name in a search engine, and reams of info will pop up. I shared his thoughts with you today because so much of it is the wisdom of the TAO and the philosophy I was weaned on. Asked the other day, why I am now with the Church of Perfect Liberty, my answer is … because it is the teaching of the TAO … that the church embodies. I’ve lived long enough to know that the TAO is life itself, and not everyone wants to be a warrior, even though if you think about it, we all are in our own way. What everyone does want is to find peace of mind. We all treasure those moments in our lives when life is uncomplicated and we feel totally at ONE with the world.

Please, allow me one more.. on love. friendship and lasting relationships. Thank you for sharing this trip down memory lane with me, You are very special and kind, I truly appreciate your company as I travel along this journey called life.

Life is Art

Artistic expressions are what makes life a work of art. Your life is your very own unique work of art. If you cut corners are miss important details, you will not be able to live up to your fullest potential. If you ignore truths, and live life half heartedly you will not live a full life. Life is full of an accumulation of small moments.

Where-ever you are, you are a living person, you interact with others, and situations, circumstances that come you way. In order to do so you express your feelings. Your life is shaped by the way you express yourself, each and every day.

In PL, Perfect Liberty, on the 1st day of every month we celebrate – Day of Peace – through a ceremony where we pray for World Peace. We rededicate our purpose in life to live as peaceful human beings in our own worlds. January 1, is not only the first day of the month, but the first day of a new year. In PL this is one of four major ceremonies. We affirm our sincere desire to begin anew, living an artistic life according to the teachings of the PL.

PL Precept # 3. God appears through One’s Self.

Push to Stop

If you drive you know all about the emergency brake, and how and when to use it. But what about own behaviour, do we have the owner’s manual handy for our “self-control” Do we know where it and how to employ it when a situation or circumstances get out of hand,

We have all had moments when we have been confronted with an angry person, we’ve seen the facial signals, the change in body stance, perhaps you’ve had such instances yourself where you’ve felt the anger build, and you simply want to vent.Shove off…………… Stay off my patch …………….. leave me alone ………………..you are ticking me off ………………. I said NO ! For sure we know this is not the face of kindness, or an invitation to come closer for a hug. This “Being” is clearing expressing his/her mood at the time of the picture.

Nor is this a sign of wanting company, or your interference. Very clear signs, why do we ignore them, think we know best, or want to have our needs met when the other person is unresponsive. Someone once said to me, when her spouse had just such a face… “I don’t understand, I’m happy and want him to be happy” We are not always on the same page at the same time. And another person’s mood may have absolutely nothing to do with us. Respecting someone else’s space is so very important, in all relationships/ interactions. family, friends or otherwise.

Donald has the right idea here, this is the “talk to the hand” signal… It means, stop, I no longer want to listen, “talk to the hand” A friend once explained this to me, I’d never seen it before. She was a manager of an office, and had to listen to a lot of flack at times, when she had enough, she would raise her hand, like Donald is doing, and we would know, she’d reached her limit.. it said give me a break, come back another time.. I’ve used this over the years, it saves a lot of grief. gives all parties a chance to just chill, reflect and calm down.

Find your emergency brake and when you need to use it… Please do so… activate it…. spare others around you that negative moment that is yours to alone to own.

Love is unconditional, we are loved no matter what our mood, or actions are. It is just easier for everyone when we learn to take ownership of our actions, and discover an appreciation for a quieter state of mind.

Amish Proverb

Good Morning every one, how are you today? It is not that I don’t have a lot to say, I could, but I came across proverb today, and spent a good time digesting it. Thought to share it with you.

This description of this picture says it is an Amish man riding his horse-drawn buggy through a blizzard in St. Mary’s MD. USA, Feb. 10.2010. I reflected on this moment of his journey, and eventually I decided that yes, dressed properly I would have loved to have shared the experience.

My spinning wheel sits idle gathering dust, I just had to have it, and yet .. now it sits an ornament waiting…. Certainly this is the time of year for reflection.

Not everyone is on the same page we are .. or even reading the same book. appreciate and accept the differences we meet along the way, focus on the chapter in our own lives and live the day to its fullest capacity.

Take a walk in the snow…. enjoy everything you do ….

Next time it snows, I plan to.

The X season

Good Day to you all... I hope that wherever you are the season is cheery and warm, happy and breezy. It is the X season! Xmas is everywhere. Xmas trees are being sold in parking lots, malls and business are decked out in garlands of bright shining lights and the music from present and past seasons that are played at this time of the year, are filling the air in most public areas. You can’t miss that this is the month of December, last month of the year, and where the shops are geared up to sell, sell, sell.

Certain agencies take advantage of the season, and spend dollars putting ads on that ask for your money for strangers in way off countries. And not to leave the animals out, some post e and share awful and terrible pictures of cruelty to domestic animals, looking for money for their needs.

Any and all material/cosmetic/organic etc. you could dream of, or want are being presented on a platter for you to drool or dream over. The pressure is applied from all quarters, credit cards are getting a work out everyone gets caught up. Its hard not to enjoy the gaiety and colourful temptations in some way or another.

Commercials tug at the heart-strings, the movies shown are often tear jerkers, almost all with happy endings. There was a time when all the princesses lived happily ever after, and fathers and mothers knew best. (well OK, on the telly) Xmas shows were musical and variety specials featuring talent that was there to entertain. We went to bed with dreams of candy canes and lingering sounds of laughter from the evening of shared fun watching the one television in the house.

When we had news to share with walked over to our friends place, no matter the weather, to share our news. Or took up pen/pencil and wrote a letter with all our news. If we took pictures we had to wait for the all the film to be used up and then taken in for developing. It could take weeks.. Think about it, could we do that today?

Would this be sufficient today?

Love is a precious gift, it one that we can give personally, from the heart, true love is unconditional, When we say I love you, we are saying we care, and will always care, no matter if that person is with us or not. We care for the other person’s happiness. Love with all your heart (sincerity)
