being YOU

africa hippo rhino

Remember the saying, “the glass is either half full” or “the glass is half empty”  Is this fellow walking on the bottom, or is he coming up for air.  Some days it is hard to tell, if its a good day, or we are just used to the “ambience” and tempo.

“I am so busy” I heard someone say, ” I just can’t get anything done”

I would wonder, then what have they been doing that they are so busy. If we are focused on the moment, then each moment we live through, is an accomplishment.  When we go out to lunch, after we have had our lunch, didn’t we accomplish what we set out to do. We ate lunch.  We actually “do” things all day.  Is it that we don’t acknowledge our accomplishments, that we are always looking ahead, and not satisfied with the present?

Have I been listening to too much Pi.   Unless you have heard of the book, seen the film or listened to the CD  you might not recognize my reference.  That’s OK, my musing can be confusing.  Life of Pi

PL calendar day 20    You are YOU, Others are Others

You have your own way of doing things, and others have their way of doing things. Don’t worry about what other people will say.  Simply take care of the task at hand.

Can you believe we are already mid month.  Please have yourself a grand day tomorrow.  Enjoy it to the fullest.  Make each moment count.  A moment wasted on negative energy, is a moment you are not smiling.  Happiness makes for a great day.

When you smile, others will too.

PL Precept #1 Life is  Art

Thursday surprise for Leonie

FYI The dolls still have not discovered the mystery connected to the chest of drawers, they were too excited to learn about Leonie’s surprise package.  It arrived shortly after the noon hour, they saw it being delivered, but of course were unable to bring it in themselves.

Leonie was thrilled when she got to go out, the parcel was for her!  Finally her guitar had arrived.  It is always nice to receive a gift, especially one you have been wanting for so long.

leonie guitar 7.6.17

To show her appreciation she would practice songs the others liked and play for them later when they gathered around before bedtime.  Silently she gave thanks, she remembered the lesson  in the PL Principles ..#3  Live with a mind of appreciation towards others and things.

Not everyone lives in a happy home, always share your happiness and joy with others, a smile goes a long way.

Respect and Acceptance

Mural on the side of an old building as you drive through a little town on old Hwy 31.

P1000561.JPG

The building is empty, there is a rental sign on the window off the front entrance. Where it had been a thriving community at one time, it is now a delightful little piece of history, as cars whiz by towards their destination further along the highway.

What seems so important today, can be a faint memory in the years to come.  We live in a world today, that has so much to offer, we intermingle with so many cultures, it is a time to prosper and learn from one another.

It is my prayer that we will not squander away, what so many have worked so hard for, fought for, and died for……

Lesson 13 of the 2016 =PL Calendar…. Each person has their own special qualities.  Each of us is born with a unique personality, and a unique worldview.  Be respectful of others and learn to get along with people of all types.

Canadien eh!

Good morning dear reader, when traveling we often hear about our money system here in Canada.  I found this picture that shows you are coinage, however please note, we no longer use the penny.  It was a real change for us when they said, no more printing of dollar bills, and we had to adapt to the loonie.  But, we did and the thought of having one more coin to drag down our wallets passed.  Then they (government) announced no more two dollar bills, we were going to be using another coin, which in Canada we have nicknamed the toonie.  Again the grumbling, what a pain, we’d need change purses the size of makeup bags!

time, telling of

Even telling the time, what seemed to be the way to tell time, when traveling I found out that not everyone knew what I was talking about, and yes we were in an English-speaking country.  In French, we also use the above when speaking of or indicating time. (Canada is bilingual, English/French)

saying, problem in Canada

True, we no longer can say, “A Penny for your thoughts?”  we could, but the younger generation, may not know what a penny is since it is no longer used.  At the moment there are still some in piggy banks I’m sure, but the day will come…… In my research this morning I found a whole page of  “canadian-problem”  #’d fun sayings.  If you are so inclined you can check them out. For my purposes, #318 will do

In PL, the PL Principle #2 is.. I will not have complaint about others, matters, nor the weather,  Rather I will always be creative and will look for shortcomings in my own thinking and actions.

Let me tell you, when the changes with the money came along, I did my share of grumbling.  Then during recent trips to the States, when I had to pay for things, I found myself longing for my loonies and toonies.  How much simpler it is using coins, and not having to deal with pennies.   I found myself appreciating the changes that were made, that I had wasted so much time being negative about them.. was a “light bulb” an “ah ha!” moment.

PL Precept #4 – Being annoyed limits your expression,   and  it does.  Sometimes there is distance between the lesson being offered, and our realization of same.

Examples used were Canadian “eh”…. but the lesson universal

penny 1 cent

no longer can I send a penny and say

a penny for your thoughts, remember I love you

somehow

a nickel for your thoughts just doesn’t have the same sentiment

it took 5 pennies to make 1 nickel

the one in the penny symbolized that  you and I are ONE

Sorry but a nickel

sounds fickle

but, all said and done

I do .. love you…

You are the only ONE…

Share your Happiness

5ef43740409003232aadbc047466075cGood morning everyone! Hope your day is going well for you.     Did you all enjoy wearing the “green” ..I personally had a wonderful day driving along the St. Lawrence (the great waterway that separates the United States and Canada)  The day started out with -20 something weather, but turned to a balmy minus  single digit by the time the noon hour was upon us..  Definitely during a Canadian winter we did not see a bicycle rider such as the one I’m showing you today. LOL and even on a good sunny day in summer, we are not likely to see such  a sight here in Canada.  Here we are about cars, motorcycles, and more cars.  Riding a pedal bicycle is usually  a recreational or sport activity.  What caught me about this picture is the balance and way the artist packed his merchandise on the bicycle. We are all artists in life, we all use our gift in different ways. This man had to pile the pineapples in just such a way for  him to carry the load and maintain balance so he can get his wares to market.  Everything has its place. This was one moment in this man’s life captured in time.   PL Principle # 3  I will live with a mind of appreciation towards others and things.

Yesterday while my friend and I drove along enjoying the sunshine and our friendship, we got to talk about life and share just being able to catch up.  Both with busy lives, we can keep in touch, but while her activities tend to take her daily in multiple directions, she still works “9-5” mine is more laid back and my time more flexible.  Sharing feelings, joys, sadness and disappointments is important, not because you want someone to resolve an issue or make something go away, but just to hear a thought out loud gives US a different perspective. PLUS,  when we have a better understanding of a friend’s feelings and thoughts, we are better able to share in their happiness. joys and sorrows.   PL Principle # 4   I will live with the spirit of Misasage (Devotion) working for the happiness of others.
