Monkey Wisdom

5fd07f4457e65d44a8ad8a32328a6205

I have Rev. Goto (NY PL church) for this expression.  He had my complete attention today while explained to the members PL Principle #9. I will not have a mind to be dishonest.  The set of 21 Principles are there for us to help us live our lives following the 21 Precepts.  Today Rev. Goto talked about Principle #9. He always like to give us an example of the lesson so that we better visualize and understand the teaching.  Like all good teachers, he doesn’t talk forever, he says what he has to say, and then cheerfully leaves us with an embedded image and lesson to ponder and assimilate.

He related a story to us that came to him through another PL Minister, Rev. Ono.  The story takes place years ago, in a different time.  An elder in a small viillage decided to organize a festival that would take place in the square at the village shrine.  For the occassion he had asked that everyone come with one item of food, and one bottle of sake (Japanese rice wine)

This was a time before bottled sake, villagers made their own sake, and kept it in traditional jars or containers made f wood or ceramics.  The idea was that each villager would bring a container of their sake, and it would be poured into one large sake barrel, for the enjoyment of the community.  This ‘sake cocktail” would be a sharing and each member participating would be honoring their fellow neighbours.

Once the mixture was prepared, the party started.  The village elder took a sip from the barrel to start the festivities, took a sip, and stood back in surprise, calling out…”oh m God, what is wrong with the sake?  It tastes like water!”    Hmmmm. how could sake turn into water?  It was clear that the sake had not changed into water, but that it had been water in the first place.  Each guest at the party who was to bring sake, had decided to bring water instead.  It was a precious commodity, and they thought no one would notice.  However,  they were not the only ones to have that thought and to act on it.  Monkey wisdom… since the majority thought to be deceitful, the few who did bring sake, had their sake diluted by all the water.

When we live with a pure and honest mind, our actions and our thoughts bring a joy and satisfaction to what we do, for us and those around us.  We should live with one mind, a mind that says “there is nothing to hide between God and myself”  Just because you think no one is looking or will know, God knows.

This story although told with humor, shows us that as humans our ego does not always motivate us in the “right” direction.    All people have a mind capable of thinking in a manner that is not always “honest” –  Let us do our best to live with a mind that will apply makoto (sincerity) to being honest in all we do and say.

Do you glance or do you read?

Good morning everyone..  earlier this week I received my PL Newsletter from Rev. Goto on New York.  In it, he has shared with us an article by Rev Toshio Suzuki*  His article began with a sentence that I read and re-read several times thinking that there was a typo.  It took a couple of readings and then going on and reading the next two sentences before what he was saying sunk in.  I am guilty myself at times of thinking I’m reading, but in fact my eyes are scanning and the brain is taking in what it is reading, but NOT necessarily  assimilating the information the way it is intended.

His opening paragraph is as follows.  Conviction and Faith, by Rev. Toshio Suzuki … If you want to see the truth of your faith, you should try to practice it very doubtfully, like “is it really true or not?”  Then you will come to the conclusion.  There is nothing more useless than neither doubting nor  believing.   To read more of what is said, please contact Rev. Goto in our New York church for a copy of this PL Newsletter.  His e-mail is goppoy@icloud.com   If you are in the NY area  (718)-424-8815.

While researching for a previous blog I found several interpretations or versions if you will of a photograph of the Mad Hatter as played by Johnny Depp. This is the one that struck me the most, and I went back to find it to use it today.  Since the picture had no explanation, as to how or why it was coloured the way it was, I can’t pass that information on to you.  I could only view it and  enjoy it from my perspective.  Most pictures I saw were in shades of black and white.  Like Rev. T.Suzuki’s words, this picture had arrested me in my search by making a statement that connected with something inside me.  I wanted more.  I really looked at it closely, the shading, the lace, the fingerless, frayed gloves, bandaged thumb,  the assorted pieces of accessories, everything.  All of the costume was very artfully pulled together to draw and capture the viewer’s attention.  When we are visual, which I am, the picture shouted at me, and I responded.  Words, are not as visual, they are a group of letters that come together to form a word.  We must read the words not necessarily by themselves, but with the words that come before and after them to really understand the intent of the writer.

Sunshine Blessings to you on this 22nd day of April.  Oyashikiri

remember, we can all look at the same picture , read the same words, and come away with our very own story-line.

Everyone can dream. This wonderful place in SL (Second Life) is a delight to explore. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/PARP/165/127/45
Sometimes in life we need to slip away from the challenges in RL (Real world) and allow our creativity to recharge.  Oh OH, caught Q trying to sneak up to the ice cream vendor.  Here one can indulge and not have repercussion (blood sugar levels) =^_^=

nov.15_008There are hobbit buildings where Tabitha showcases, her wonderful Victorian furniture and outfits.  There are a ton of places to explore, and if like me you like to take photographs, there is a wide variety of interesting places to capture on disk.  You get to try out different environment settings. Virtual photography like anything else, takes some adjusting to, but once you get the  hang of it, results are rewarding.  This thought process applies to how we live our lives too!  When we cheat, sneak a “shouldn’t have” it is our bodies that suffer, it is  me.I. self. that pays the price.  Choices. My inner voice is always right, I have to learn to trust it more, listen carefully to what I’m hearing, not hear what I want to hear.  There is a difference.

nov.15_003

In Pl we are encouraged to stay in tune with the times.  Virtual worlds are here and have been now for awhile.  In world, we  get to meet people from all over the world.  We can socialize, or explore on our own,  there is no escaping that the experience of being in a virtual world broadens our  horizons.  If you are yourself creative, the possibilities are endless.

Did you know that there is a small building in Second Life dedicated to the study and practice of /on the philosophy of Perfect Liberty?  If ever you wanted to meet with one of the ministers, you can do so in Second Life. =^_^=  Today I am going to move the church to another building.  Once I’m done doing that, I will post the new location for you.

Rev. Goto the minister in New York for the Church of Perfect Liberty, sent out his newsletter recently.  In it, he said “PL teachings don’t exist in a far away world, but in the daily movements of our lives”   That quote he used, really resonated with me. I so truly believe that God is with us in everything we do.  I have found SL to be a wonderful learning tool, I have found and learned some profound lessons through being a member of this virtual world.  When we are open to life and its lessons, we are blessed with the experience and wonder of the journey.

“You have a built in yearning to seek your inspired self and feel wholeness, a kind of inexplicable sense that patiently demands recognition and action.  You might describe it as a mechanism persistently projecting the words, destiny, mission, or purpose on your inner screen. ” Dr. Wayne W. Dyer

“Anyone who keeps the ability to see beauty never grows old ”  Franz Kafka

Whatever you do today, do it mindfully, be present 100%. LOVE God/Tao with all your heart and soul/mind. Mark 12:30 NIV

Blessings, today and always.  Be Happy, SMILEGood Saturday Morning everyone!
