Start of a new year for those of us who follow the lunar calendar. Lots of celebrating, dancing, fireworks, colour and excitement. Do we carry the colour and enthusiasm into our new year?

I’d like to think that I do. Every day I try to bring colour of some kind into my days. Whether it is creatively crafting, writing, problem solving, I enjoy the challenge of working something through from beginning to finish. That said, what I want to do, and what actually happens, hmmm let’s say, the stars don’t always align.

Do I get angry, annoyed, no… Why? Because getting angry, stewing and simmering about something that has happened, will not remedy the situation. PL Precept #4 – Being Annoyed Limits your Expression. PL Precept # 5, One’s Self is lost by being Emotional. Let’s be clear, that doesn’t mean I never snap, or get annoyed with something or someone, I do, but I also have learned to let it go. Once I vent, spew off the negativity, express my reaction, puff, it is like a breath of fresh air washes over me, and it’s gone. What, may take all of a few seconds, or a minute or two at most, and its gone.

PL Precept # 17 Grasp what is Most Essential. Believe me, I am much happier, when I am at peace with myself. Reread that last bit if you need to, I work at being at peace with myself. It is only when I can be at peace with myself, that I can reach out and be useful and loving to someone else. If we live our lives being angry, then we are not going to achieve love and peace for others, because it hasn’t begun within ourselves.

PL Precept #15 All is a Mirror.

Be content, be happy, share that love and happiness with others.

We are all blessed with the gift of life, love and the tools to maintain and express this love.

Life (Living) is an art form

PL lesson 5- Widsom Comes Naturally when you are humble

“You will stop growing if you have a conceited or boastful mind. Always remember to be humble.”

This is when practicing the art of listening is so important. If we think we know it all, or already know what someone is going to say or do, we deprive ourselves of learning. It could be a new way of doing something, or a different viewpoint on a subject we think we have down pat.

Chinese New Year (year of Monkey) has already started in parts of the world. A time to celebrate with family and friends. In China, people travel for days to get home, this is a big holiday.

Where ever you are, however you are celebrating, may inner joy, satisfying rewards, and good health be the core essence of the new year.

Buen dia, Good day everyone!

My inspiration today was this wonderful door handle I found. It is the picture, the door, the whole enchilada! This capture has personality plus. Door knobs, handles are fascinating, the vast variety seen when one searches them out is mind-blowing. Artistic statements .. not necessarily on their own, they are, but somehow the charm, the “statement” is in the marriage of the hardware to the door itself. When this was new, I doubt it would have had the same fascination for me, but it has aged, and its appearances has been enhanced with age.

I looked at a lot of pictures of door knobs and handles, I have a Pinterest board of Doors, there are many beautiful pieces in all shapes and sizes. Some wonderfully preserved. But this is the one I wanted, this is the one that spoke to me. It sent my mind off into story land, I imaged it talking to me, wishing me welcome. Smiles, the door handle is a wizard in disguise. Lean closer, hear the tale he spins to beckon you in, behind his sturdy ancient weather worn door.

Enter through this door

watch your step there is no floor

inside you’ll find the years of wear

you’ve allowed to gather on your earthly form

do you dare face the dust and debris

on the pages of your life, worn and torn

from constant use and abuse.

please, use the knocker

the sound will be heard within

We loved with all our heart,

we were blessed with happiness and bliss

and for whatever reason, it was lost

so to protect our fragile heart

we put it under lock and key

time passes, life around us changes, and so do we

but somehow, we don’t want to use the key

our heart still beats and longs to be free

what was…. was… we now know we can never go back

we simply are not the same person we were back then

trust the desires and longing of your heart

trust the person you have become

Love is beautiful

Love is being alive

Love is the freedom to be

Love is living a life in Perfect Liberty

Love is us

Love is you, me

we are ONE

God is Love.

The bees knees

Here you go to all my friends and readers who have had me ask them, what is the meaning of the expression “you’re the bees knees” Finally, dear loved ones, lazy me, looked it up

For those of you who remember it from the distant past, but couldn’t recall the meaning .. except that it seemed to a favoured expression. This is one possibility…

Whatever, you can breathe a sigh of relief, I have found enough information, I will let it go now =^_^= it just stuck in my craw, I didn’t have a clue. I learned about bees though and have been impressed with what I learned. The bee is very valuable to our survival, AND, it is a positive energy, it lives to give life to others. It is tireless in its quest, and lives a life of service.

It goes happily about its business, buzzing and collecting, visiting 1000’s of flowers in a day.

PL Principle #21 I will live with the spirit of Misasage (Devotion) working for the happiness of others.

incredible holiday

Never judge a book by its cover…. our room was clean, big, it had a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, big screen telly and internet. Oh and two big queen size beds. It was just off the big super highway when we turned off on to hwy 15 going into Kingston. This was our view from the balcony ..it wasn’t the time year to be sitting on the balcony but.. wanted to share this with you. The road you see there is the hwy. where you can’t see off to the left is the super one. Yes, we were constantly hearing cars, trucks etc. driving past. In the morning, we were treated to the activity of the heavy equipment being started up. It was all good, we enjoyed ity all.

The pictures were taken early morning, the day following our arrival. Kingston is a popular tourist attraction especially in the summer, and it is not only a military base, but swarming with the activity of the Universities and the buzz of student life. for more on the city you can check out this link

As wonderful as the city is, we were there to treasure hunt and chill. Eartha (name changed to protect the innocent) and I were on an adventure, and yes we included some craft shopping (Michaels) We were in our glory, on the days we were there we encountered nothing but discount days, one store had 75% off, another 50% then the next day or was it the day before it was 40%. It is not the you spend a lot, it is the thrill of the hunt. Some of you will get this, others I know will just shake their darling heads (Hello B!)

Everything was a positive. The internet was iffy in our lodgings, but we were still able to have a giggle, and what messages I did retrieve were so appreciated. We had been told to expect snow, rain, freezing rain, but all day everywhere we were the sun shone down on us, blessing our day with warm sunshine, blue skies, friendly people, we laughed, we talked, and we ate.

We found this restaurant called the Mandarin (no it was not lost) it was just new to us. =^_^=…. Chinese New Year as most of you know by now is coming up Feb. 7 in China, 8th here. Already the celebrations have begun. It is a big restaurant (franchised) that means the different Mandarins, for example there is a big one near here in Orleans, are owned by different people. This one, was in full-blown celebration mode, with the red lanterns and the red symbols of good luck, prosperity, health and happiness festooned all over in all the rooms.

Yes, there were different rooms with different themes, on our last day we sat in the Fish room. Huge divider of tropical fish and Chinese wall mural of fish. The servers and attendants were all in smart well pressed uniforms of Chinese red, the ladies sported tops in Chinese brocade, everyone had training in how to greet guests, the special bow, the hot towels prior to eating and then another fresh hot towel after the meal. the service was 1st class excellent! The owner made the rounds, welcoming everyone, and offering the traditional red envelopes. A grand experience.

It was a wonderful time away, it wasn’t the destination, but the getting there. Once there it wasn’t our physical environment, but the sense of happiness and friendship that carried us through the various things we did. The discoveries we shared. We didn’t think about tomorrow, we lived the moments and therefore, we were constantly celebrating the “wonders ” of the day.

The start of a new year should always be a celebration of new beginnings and the renewal of the joy in our hearts. We sweep out the old and bring in the new. According to Chinese tradition, a red envelope is a symbol of luck. When we give someone a red New Year envelope, we are wishing them good health, wealth and luck for the coming year.

This little light of mine

On Sunday during my talk I told everyone that PL makes me want to sing, and this is the song I want to sing. I believe with all my heart that love is the key to World Peace. In practicing the philosophy of Perfect Liberty, the happiness and joy in my heart keeps love in my life.

When we love, and live our lives with the spirit of appreciation for everything around us, we see life differently. As I said yesterday during service, when I feel a complaint bubbling up … I look for the shortcomings in my thinking, and I look for creative solutions to my problem.

LIFE IS ART… PL. Precept #1 .

In PL we are taught that we are all unique, and that each and every person, is an individual, therefore, what works for someone else, might not work for us, but there is always a solution, or “way” Members of PL have access to personal guidance through consultations given my PL ministers. Consultations are tailored to your individual character and situation.

Life is Art, Vida es Arte

Brinde aplausos al Makoto de las personas – Applaud the Makoto of Others – Makoto (sincerity)

When we want something, really want something, we tend to apply ourselves to reaching that goal. It may or may not be good for us, but we want it… and gosh by golly, we are going to do our best to achieve/ or get what we want. I watched a video today about some of the basic training done by athletes, in this case it was soccer, goal tenders. I watch the game, and I see the players running, jumping and doing simply amazing things with their bodies as they work their way across the field. When the ball is kicked towards the goal keeper, I’m stunned at the movement and the efficiency in which the goalie can reach for the ball. It could be coming at him/her from any direction, from what seems to be a standing still position the goalie leaps into action. It is amazing.

These dedicated athletes work hard to do what they do. We watch and cheer them on, but do we remember to applaud their hours of training and selfless single-minded focus on their craft. We get to enjoy their performances because they have devoted their time and energy to be the best they can and what they want to do.

The videos were very inspiring for me, and I am not athletic, never-the-less just watching I got a feeling of tightening in my abdomen, I just couldn’t imagine that kind of determination, passion, and drive, dancers who hone their skills are much the same, the body is going to do what it is required … they practice every day.

Life is a serious of challenges that come at us from every direction, it is with dedication to our faith, and our Makoto at applying our knowledge to our daily activities to live as better human beings. It is important to remember that we are not alone, and that we should appreciate those around us who make our lives so much richer.

Become a person who can be thankful for anything that happens to them.

Bom dia, good day everyone!

A day filled with sunshine, that is one thing about winter mornings … the sun comes streaming into my office showering the office with a happy glow that is so inspiring and welcoming. The dried black fungus and fish mah is soaking so it will rejuvenate and be ready for a meal later… my iced coffee is watered down just like I like it.. What a super fantastic start to the day.

Another week, I can hardly believe that we are in the second half of the month. I was reading the calendar’s lesson for the 17th. (yesterday) Tente mais um pouco.. Persevere without giving up .. Persista un poco mas (a has an accent my keyboard doesn’t) smiles, nothing will stop me today, I feel so positive and HAPPY. In fact most days, I realize I am HAPPY . I like being HAPPY.

I had a Skype conversation with a friend the other day and was totally blown away by an experience she had. I listened carefully because I knew the people involved. It had been a negative experience at the time, but she was wise, in having let it go… and in a most positive way was moving on with her life. She explained the situation in a factual way.. and took responsibility for her part in it. I knew there was a reason I had liked her from the beginning when we first met. =^_^=

Of course, there is never just one side to a story, just as beautiful as this little black kitty looks, relaxed and resting, in another moment or two, the view we could witness would be very different indeed.

I plan on having a great day, there is a lot to do and be done, but, first things first, I was not going to let another day go by without saying how much I appreciate you … and thank you for sharing time with me.
