walk a crooked mile

a crooked fence

We have all had that moment where we look down a road, path, or street and wonder where it leads.I am one who is always intrigued with what is around the bend. “honey, just a little further, please, let’s see what is up around that bend” and when we get there, I coax for maybe just another mile or two.

One day, we simply turned a corner, and he stopped the car. (back road)
“Now look around and see just how many vistas you see from here”… new concept. Usually it would be when we were in another Province or State. The challenge was there to find my next story line.

what is beyond the horizon

For me I can just stand in one spot and look in all directions till I spot a place that draws me into a line of thought, that begins to tell a story. I’m hooked. I want to sit down and start writing .. of course I can’t, I’m on the road, and if I write it down in that moment, it won’t have the opportunity to grow in my imagination.

Others can stop for a coffee, or another kind of pick me up, for me .. its the little gems of visual settings, and backdrops that tease and encourage me to paint, write, sculpt. I love it. I love these gifts from the Universe. my joy isn’t in a commercial environment, but rather when I am out discovering a new day.

Live radiantly as the sun. Strive to always be bright and cheerful so you can enliven those around you.

Monday 12

Monday morning greetings… I am revisiting some of the farms I have taken in the past. The big red heritage one in particular because I was out that way on the week-end. The construction has started now. Now we see bigger mounds of earth, as they rip out all the pastures around it to map out the streets that will be going in, and where the houses will be built.  Already it is surrounded by big box store shopping areas, and a small mini golf course.  There are all the convenience fast food stops as well..

The skies are still a beautiful blue, and stretch on for miles, but gone are the rows of produce and the beauty of wandering farm animals enjoying the sunshine and breezes.

I have been out driving back roads lately, had special events that were way out of the city, one along the St. Lawrence.  A small town along Hwy 2 and the St. Lawrence, Iroquois.  Small it might be, but it has a good restaurant(s), a small thrift shop, and a couple more interesting little shops.  For me it was the drive along the secondary roads to get there.  I took my time and drank in open spaces.

For button collectors, the thrift shop has big bowls of buttons you can go through and pick out how many and which ever ones you want. Fill a small cello bag for $1.00.

PL Calendar day 12  Be cheerful and carefree

Without putting on airs or trying to be someone you aren’t just be yourself.  This will give people a good impression of you and things will move forward in the right direction.

Thursday Doors 4.20.17

P1000339

Another time, another place

lazy days, quieter times

where television news didn’t rule the day

where children played in innocence

in country lanes or on tree-lined streets

off the towns central core

of country store, drugstore, and maybe a diner or two

with a small town community center

and of course the church

where friends and neighbours

gather Sundays to pray.

Today on Thursday Doors I searched for this picture, that I might have shown you before.  It inspired me then, and it does now.. because my friend, I want to slow down, we are not slowing down before we act.  We are seeing this in the upheaval in the world around us.
We celebrate the past, and the soldiers who died for a cause.  Yet on the next page is a story of aggression and violence.

People move to the country to get away from “city” living, and then they want the “city” comforts to be built around them,  Where once the quiet town enjoy a peaceful surround.  They discover that where once the dairy farm had been, a big box store was going in.  The lovely little glen and babbling brook that ran behind the farmer’s home, was being paved over for a parking lot

Doors are opportunities. They open to new discoveries, or close to hide or forget the past. Doors are symbolic, doors are not a decoration, they serve a purpose.  This door, to me, is symbolic of another time, a reminder that yes, we can go forward, and we can progress, but look how well maintained this door is.  It may be plain, but it serves, and it is respected, someone has lovingly kept this building maintained.

Let us look after our selves, we do maintenance on our cars and homes regularly  to keep them tip top.   It is time to make sure that we maintain balance in our lives too. Spiritual healing, is imperative, put love back in our lives, not lust, but LOVE
