When we live a life of “art” it does not only encompass you, but it affects the multitude of people around you. When we express our artistic ideas, and put them into action, if it pleases others, as well as ourselves, we are on the road towards a more peaceful existence.
By now you know that I love to sometimes just drive, and let the road take me to wherever it leads. I don’t mind taking a turn I’ve never taken before, or even stop on a side street, just to feel that ambiance of the area I am in, It is interesting that when out, I can chit-chat and happily chatter away with total strangers. yet when I come home, shut the door to the outside, I can do a total 360 degrees. Turn off the phones, and just bury myself in the quiet of the creative happenings in my studio/office.
To stay healthy in body and mind… I practice, PL Precept # 20 Live maintaining equilibrium between mind and matter.

a woodpecker started last year to redo the head
this spring, another bird came along
did a reno inside, , to make,his/her bed
a nest, a place to rest
we don’t mind
it is the best kind
of neighbour to have.

I knew this place nestled in the trees, it came back to me, a very distant memory
The closer I got, the stronger the story line, from a time way before I walked this earth.
The trees were not as mature, in fact most, except the one, were but seedlings in the ground
“Father farmed the land for miles around. The nearest neighbour was a day away, unless of course, it was a Sunday, and we could hitch the horses to the small cart. We would all dress in our Sunday best to ride into the closest settlement, otherwise, we spent our days tending to chores and learning to read by candlelight, once all animals had been bedded and we could rest before we ourselves had to head up the stairs to bed.”
I couldn’t resist a look inside, sure enough the stairs were still there, but somehow the rest of the living area had been taken down and left to be dealt with another day. I did consider going in, to see if I could still see out the window, from outside, I saw it was still there.
Reality is, it was another time, and the youngster who grew up there, was long gone. The world has vastly changed, and now, this home that was, sits alone in an isolated little woodland, on the edge of big farming complex.
The windows of the past, that we encounter today, fascinate and intrigue me. Similar to the interest I have in doors, doorways and entryways, the questions, the storylines, the hazy visions into what was, could have been, or could be……….. never cease to delight and titillate my creative cells.

I’ve lived all my life without ever having felt such an immediate connection
I knew that there was a horse in the paddock
his beauty I could see when we drove in
however, my focus was on the man raking the leaves
he was who we had come up the drive to see
when I disembarked from the truck
2 mature and protective great danes came to greet me
although strangers, we all got along
the visit went with ease
when I turned to leave,
for some unknown reason,
it was not to the truck I went
but to the compelling figure at the fence
our eyes met, and I felt a sudden rush of recognition
of what I knew not what,
only that this handsome beast
knew my name and was wanting me closer
we met, we touched, both wanted more
how is it that I’ve never had a desire before to connect with a horse
I didn’t want to go, but I had to leave
will that moment come again,
I don’t know, but the encounter,
the soft muzzle, warm breath and gentle nudge
is etched in my memory
it was a moment REALLY lived….

It was a heavenly day, sunny, bright, the promise of a lazy summer in the air. We had stopped to explore a property with a for sale sign. The view was magnificent. In the summer when the woodlands were dense with foliage, the view would be entirely different.
The odd car went by on the old highway, but that aside, the little woodland was quiet. There were signs that at one time, someone had built, there was firewood neatly stacked waiting to be needed. The building though was long gone. All that was left was the remanet of a concrete step.
As we stood in silence taking in the fresh air and the ambiance of the day, we were each in our own thoughts. To Rev. Eisuke, who was born and raised in Japan, then spent the last 6 years assigned to Argentina… I could only imagine what his thought were. Mine was on the many times I’d driven by, and never seen this slice of heaven It was a perfect moment. Everything just felt so right. Nature’s embrace does that. We both marvelled at the blessings of living with God brings. PL Precept #11 Always be with God.
Coming back we took the super-duper new highway that cut through the rugged hillside. Speeding us back to civilization. Sigh. That is just what life is about.When the moment happens. seize it. Blessings come in many guises.
