Church – Prayer-Meditation

church - prayer

What church you attend, and how you pray, this is very personal. Only something you can decide. What is important is that you pray. That communication with the Divine/Universe is a constant part of your life on a daily basis.
Always be open to the words/direction/guidance of God/TAO

nov.29_002Call it meditation, call it prayer, call it anything you want, but make the time every day to keep in touch with your “inner voice”  Whether you believe it or not, you are connected to the Universe, in all you say, do, everything.

nov.29_001Some of us pray in a formal church, and many of us, have our own private places where we find our quiet and calm.  The formality of a church can be daunting, and to some boring.  In life I have found that no matter where I’ve gone, or what the circumstances, the people/souls I’ve connected with, no matter the outer appearance, were spiritual in their own way.  ie. in SL, behind every avatar is a human being with a heart that lives and breathes.  In life, everyone we meet has a heart that beats, they live with feelings, hurts and bruises, and have loved and lost just like you and I.

A.nov 30_002

This church in SL is open to everyone.  It is run by a church in the States.  when you arrive at the church, you can obtain a notecard that gives you the information on the how and why of the church.  I’ve cut and paste the first part of the note card for you.

“I hope that you will find sweet kindness here. My SL name is Pelagius Friend (see the note on Pelagius at the bottom of this notecard). My RL name is Benhardt Fraumann and I am a Presbyterian Minister who serves a RL church just outside New York City. My RL website…if you ever want to hear a homily is http://www.communitypc.org. ”   He then goes on to explain the concept of the church and talk about Monk represented in their build, it is very interesting.   Pelagius (350-418 A.D. Approximate)

This is not the only church to provide a place for the many thousands of players in SL. ( PL is also present in SL along with many many others)

Offer sincere words and demonstrate acts of kindness, today and always.  Live with World Peace in your hearts. Blessings today, tomorrow and always.nov.29_003http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Born/178/63/29

Now I lay me down to sleep

Now I lay me down to sleep – is a song /prayer that I heard as a child.  Maybe you remember it.

the following are the lyrics that I got on the web should you not remember the prayer.  It has been revised several times and there are copies on the web for your to browse should you wish to do so.  I extrapolated the following from the web dictionary. Perhaps the earliest version was written by Joseph Addison in an essay appearing in The Spectator on March 8, 1711. It says:

When I lay me down to Sleep,
I recommend my self to his care;
when I awake, I give my self up to his Direction.

A later version printed in The New England Primer goes:

Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my soul to keep,
If I shall die before I wake,
I pray the Lord my soul to take. Amen.

This little prayer has been playing in my head now for a week or so.  I wonder why it only seems to address itself to the younger generation.  Perhaps it is because I have been getting my “house in order” shedding, and recycling that I feel this little prayer is one that should be for all ages.  Especially those of us who are nearing our golden years.  As I packed and filled yet another bag for the Salvation Army, I thought of this, and wanted to pass it along.  I’ve seen to many friends pass on into the “great beyond” and their “treasures” and possessions became “stuff” to be rid of by family or persons unknown depending on the situation.

We don’t like to talk about such events, but that is what life is, we come, we live, we leave.  In the “we live”part, we deal with all sorts of challenges and adventures, our collections, our memories, how many of them do we actually look at and actually “see” as the years pass by.  In cleaning up I relived a lot of fun moments (during the collection) but I also realized that a lot of what I had /have was no longer being used, admired, or even much thought of.

Its cold outside, why do I need  a dozen or so hoodies, when it comes time to wear one, I usually wear the same one or two all the time. Someone else can benefit from them, they are in good condition, warm and in a thrift shop will be very affordable.  I used to like my “Designer” labels, and would enjoy just looking at the variety in my cupboards.  I used my leather purses for decorating and staging a “look” along my walls or hanging from a door.  Now I’ve kept only a few that I “may” use at some time or another.  I’ve come to terms with the “need” I had for wanting to “possess” (comes from being a child born during the war) =^_^=

Anyway, just musing out loud.  What do you think, isn’t the above prayer a good one for each and every one of us?

PL Precept #11  Always be with God

That said, remember to live with a smile in your heart.  Pass it on!  smilePencil

Changing Seasons

Changing Seasons

Caverns of Aleval – you’ve seen pictures now taken from this location in the last few blogs. This is a build by Asa Vordun in Second Life this is the taxi to click on to explore the place for yourself. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Caverns%20of%20Aleval/243/90/21

This morning I took an online survey for a University in South Carolina on the experience of teaching,or being a student in SL, until about 2009 may of the major Universities and Learning Institutions had a presence in Second Life. Now it seems less so if I am to believe the document I read this morning.

As an artist and teacher, I have found Second Life to be invaluable for my own development and those who have ventured in with me. Some stay only a little while, others have stayed longer, some couldn’t handle it at all. It is a learning curve in one way or another for all who give it a try.

Fear of the unknown, insecure with technology, lack of time, for whatever reason, there is a time and a season. =^_^= Being in Second Life, requires a desire to be there, if you decide to visit and explore, you world will open up .. especially if you are creative person, the options are endless.

Caverns of Aleval is going through a change today, snow is falling and the land is taking on the charms of winter. Our lives also go through changing seasons, sometimes we feel the gradual change, and other times, plop, it is in our face.

PL lesson for today says. Once you Make up your mind things will begin to happen.. Once you decide, “I’m going to do it” your enthusiasm and courage will begin to rise, if you give it your best effort, God will give you aid when you need it most..    X nov 23a_004The attention to detail in this build is amazing.  (I caught Asa doing some add ons this morning, she closed the door to this darling little home, if you peak inside, you will find it warm and cosy, simply touch the door for it to open)

Attention to detail is what we need in our lives …  We need to practice mindfulness, if we want something to happen or desire a change, then we need do more than think and want it, we have to work towards that goal, being present and mindful of our journey is key.   I’ve taken a close up of her work, this is virtual art at its best.  Her place is welcoming and heartwarming.

I love that little tree.   Share your world, share your dreams, step outside the box, make your dreams a reality.   Blessings.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is every 21st of the month for those of us who follow the Perfect Liberty calendar/philosophy.  A day we come together in prayer and community to formally give thanks for the people around us and the things provided to us by Mother Nature.  It is a time to renew our intention of beginning each new day with appreciation, and to step forward with a feeling of World Peace in our heart.

To begin my day today, I used up the left over mashed potatoes and designer carrots  by making a veggie ball with them, this gave me the protein since a scrambled egg was used to hold the ball together. =^_^=  I accompanied the ball with diced fresh tomato and red pepper, and for added colour a few flowers of broccoli.  No additional condiments were used.

Service is at 7 pm this evening.  See you then.       smilePencil

Have you been overdoing things lately, convinced that you have to get everything done now.
Relax and take a moment to breathe….
Actually take more than a moment….
Enjoy the sunshine, enjoy the day that was presented to you.
Express gratitude in your prayers.
Strive to do things for the sake of others, pray for their happiness as well.

Standing Still

Standing Still

Frozen in Time – sculpted out of wire, apoxie sculpt and fabric this garden fairy likes her crystals, she carries them with her so that the sun and day light will catch and reflect prisms of colour all around her. The stump she stands on was part of a tree she used to love for the shade it provided on the hot summer days. She came inside one year, to grace the mantel, to this day she is still there. There is a window there, and during the bright winter days, when the sun comes shining through … her garland dances sending a rainbow of colour through the room.

Do we stand still in life, or do we constantly want to be on the move? Lately I’ve been forced to spend more time.. standing still… LOL or should I say, having a lie down =^_^=

Like the garden fairy with her crystals, when the dust gathers on her beads, the rainbow of colours is less dazzling. When she was outside, Mother Nature, bathed her in spring, summer and fall with showers, pelting rains and blew soft whispers of breeze through her strand of crystals.

When we stop and allow the world around us to “really be seen” It is surprising what we “see” and realize about where we are in life, and how we are coping with the realities.

Have the courage to really look at where you are, have you been standing still? Is dust gathering on “your crystals”

Prayer is our garland of light, the Universe speaks to us everyday, and in many ways. It is in mindfulness that we
hear and see the Divine connection.

Blessings everyone, may the light of life shine brightly on you today.and always.

Braised oxtails – curried Pork Hocks -mushroom vegetarian balls

Sorry no pictures – too busy eating.  Before I forget though I thought I’d best share the recipes with you of last night’s meal for the Prayer Circle evening.  The meats were served on a mixed  bed of Sushi rice and plump medium grain rice.

The Asian grocery store near here, actually slices the pork hocks into slices, just short of cutting all the way through the bone.  This was seared in 100% coconut oil, (1 teaspoon or so) enough so that the crushed garlic and ginger wouldn’t burn and to give the meat a bit of colour.  then I added some chicken stock and curry and let it simmer for a couple of hours.  The curry is the cubed curry that you buy in Asian grocery stores, and you can pick your own flavour and temperature, mild, medium or HOT.  While it is in simmer mode, I add sliced onion and diced celery.

The oxtails, were given similar treatment.  They were seared using the coconut oil, This time I make sure the oxtails are tossed and stir fried until a golden brown, then I add ginger, black bean sauce, some hoisin sauce, and a vegetable mushroom soy, toss some more, then add cooking sake to taste, prior to adding some chicken stock.and cubed king mushrooms.  This too is allowed to come to a rolling boil, then simmer for several hours,

Both of the dishes are flavourful, and provide a rich  harmonizing gravy for the rice…Often when such meals are served the gravies are their own culinary dish.  The reason why the rice is so important to the meal.

The vegetarian balls, are similar to the recipe provided a few blogs back, you can see a picture of the balls on that blog.  This time though, I had actual mushrooms in the mix of oyster and mushroom soy, previously cooked mushrooms and carrots that had been cooked in a sauce for another meal.. they were mashed with the potatoes and chick peas providing a different flavour.  I added to that minced garlic and grated fresh ginger.  Used two eggs with the mix along with about a full cup of Panko (Japanese bread crumbs)  They are a good size since I use the ice cream scoop to make them.  They hold their shape well.  Baked in an oven on a  lightly greased pizza pan depending on your oven, take between 1/2 an hour and 45 minutes. When they are a rich golden brown take them out and let them cool.    I store them using a muffin tin for each ball.

Obviously I do the above over a two day period.  This allows for the flavours to really settle into the dishes.  Then when it is time to eat, I bring the pots back into the kitchen and slowly reheat them on the stove.  The vegetarian balls can be zapped in the microwave, or eaten cold. This dear reader is the reason living in a country where we have 4 seasons, I offer up these meals when it is late fall or winter and its cold outside.  I can use the summer kitchen to keep the dishes cold in their pots over night.

Depending on the group you are serving you can provide along with the meal a plate of fresh veggies or a shredded slaw is good.  Keep  the greens simple and crunchy.

Beverage to go with the above for me is a glass of cold water, but herbal teas are offered to guests.  AFTER the meal.  While eating the object of such a prayer circle is to allow your taste buds to enjoy and experience all the different spices and tastes and textures.

Being mindful and exercising you brain and spirituality, is not just sitting in silence, it is learning how to bring the mindfulness into your every day life and activities.  Sharing mindfulness with a friend(s) and partaking of an evening where all your senses are employed.

Prayer and “active” meditations are key to having and living a balanced life where spirituality and GOD are part of every second of your day.

after the meal and prior to bedtime, I checked on Q who was showing off her svelte figure,  she can eat and it never seems to show!  A great evening of sharing, eating, mindfulness. and time for creativity.  Amazing =^_^=

Mioshie

IMG_6370

Rev. Eugene on Mioshie

What is Mioshie? Mioshie in PL is “Divine Instruction.” It tells you the reason for receiving the particular Mishirase (sickness, misfortune, injury, etc.). The Mioshie will list all the negative mentality that you had. By praying and practicing what is written on the Mioshie, your Mishirase will be cured.

To give you an example, let say that I came down with a cold. So, I request a Mioshie for my Mishirase of catching a cold. The Mioshie will come back listing all my negative mentality that I had. It could be: 1. Don’t be stubborn; 2. Don’t overly do things; and 3. Don’t complain about others. If I can follow all these, then I will never catch a cold the rest of my life.

In order for a body to be healthy, everything needs to run smoothly. A negative mentality releases chemicals in our body that starts a reaction that eventually leads to a cold, for instance. Therefore, a person who has more positive mentality will be more healthier than not.

To request Mioshie is to know your true self. We can look at other people and know what negative mentality that person has. But, it is very hard to realize your own negative mentality.

Mioshie is the key to being healthy and living a happier life.

Mioshie is Divine Instruction given to PL members to help them learn and improve through Mishirase.

Mishirase – Divine warning from God, in the form of an illness, a misfortune, and accident, pain or suffering

Spotless Mind Cafe

Spotless Mind Cafe

I’ve been struggling with my blood sugars. Headaches, fatigue and unease have been daily companions. Rev. Eugene was coming over today to pray with me and help give the meeting area a spiritual lift. Tomorrow I will host a prayer circle. Needless to say, I was dragging and not the liveliest of “hosts” prior to his arrival.
Some company and prayer soon put that right. I can’t say enough how much prayer can uplift and ease a tired “mind”.
PL minsters are always there for us. It is easy to forget just how powerful a consultation/meeting can be, certainly the “Universe” provided for me today.

A gift started my day ( of a call from Spain, =^_^=)  is it no wonder that when I took a tour into SL, I found myself at a place called Spotless Mind Cafe. Your calls, comments and e-mails have been so appreciated. I feel so very  blessed.

You can find the cafe at  http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Pure%20Dreams/151/119/21

Tomorrow is another day.  Thanks again for being there for me today.  I love you all… Today, tomorrow and always

Food for the spirit

Food for the spirit

We make sure we feed our stomachs are we as focused and dedicated to maintaining the nourishment of our “spirits”. How often do we make time for a good sit down visit with God/Universe. we would not think of leaving the house or starting our day without a shower and brushing our teeth. Yet we are quick to rush out of the house to go about our daily activities without making sure our mental and spiritual needs are met and in good health.
Prayer and meditation are very important in mental and spiritual well being.
Times should be set aside every day for a personal tune up. Whether it is 5, 10 , or 15/20 minutes a day.  We take care of our bodies, we have our heart rates checked, blood pressure, and teeth tended to on a regular basis yet procrastinate or simply neglect  the  most important connection in living a balanced life, our mental health & spiritual wellness.

PL offers us a unique way to stay tuned to our spiritual wellness requirements. through personal one on one consultations with a PL minister you can work together with the minister, to help you  maneuver  through your life’s journey and all its intricacies,

WE each and every one of us is “special”, and live a “unique to us” lifestyle, therefore, we all have to find the right way and schedule to  find the way that works for us.  If you are not sure, or want to consult with  someone, please contact us.  Perfect Liberty is International, contact me if you need specific information/referral.  Use the comment part of this blog, I will respond to you (usually within 48 hours, if not much sooner)

The vegetable you see above, is a cross between a cauliflower and broccoli in taste.  I steamed mine, then seasoned it with garlic butter and pepper.  don;t overdo the butter, you need only a little drizzle it over the flowers, let it sit for about 3 minutes and delight in the taste.  I steam the veggie just enough to soften it a wee bit.  Remember I love my crunch.  Last night I served it with a shrimp and leek dumplings that were dipped in  Sriracha hot chili sauce (dr Oz approved sauce!)  I’ll be honest with you, I can’t remember why he was advising it as a good condiment to have and use, I use it because I really LIKE it.  I will use it with almost anything when I want that “punch” or “zing” to whatever it is I’m eating.  5 calories per serving (1 tsp)

photo (13)

Take care of all of you.  Eat your veggies and keep your meats lean.  Seeing this temping hot chili sauce. might cook up a batch of dry garlic giblets for snacking on at lunch time.  Can eat them with a bowl of steamed bok choy and slices of raw white radish.  Oh slow down girl, you’ve just had your breakfast…

Sending love and hugs your way.. with lots of Blessings!
