Good morning, welcome to a small town along the highways as I made my way towards Valleyfield, Quebec.

.I looked up and saw the door leading …out to no where – then I spied this old concrete structure with the wonderful wrap around veranda.. it must have been a great vantage point for the town parades in the days of its past glory. I am thinking it could have been the village general store.., It was a delightful find.

Today’s thought -reflection.

Improve yourself to have a kinder heart

Do what you can to be caring and considerate to make others happy. (PL2021.3)

Here is something else to think about. The other day my neighbour said to me ” soon we won’t be able to enjoy a banana” .. when I Iooked puzzled she said.. “no seeds in the watermelons, no seeds in the bananas, our food is being so manipulated (GMO) there are no seeds to carry on the wonderful fruits and vegetables as we knew them. Sure enough, when I got home, my watermelon, had no seeds, not one. and…. I’m told you have to pick where you get your bananas, they are not always enjoyable to eat (texture)

Have a good day everyone!

Those are great photos. I think that first house must have had a large balcony (judging from the marks on the bricks). If they’re keeping that door, I hope they have plans to rebuild the balcony.

I don’t understand what was wrong with bananas the way they were, and I never really minded the seeds in watermelon. I think a lot of money is being spent to solve problems we never really had.

hi Dan. I am with you! part of the fun of watermelon was the messy dripping and the spitting of the seeds … life was “real”… we are heading for a plastic world.

Neither is a GMO. Seedless watermelon is cross pollination/hybrid, actually developed 50 years ago. And the banana is technically an herb, not a fruit (sort of like the tomato is technically a fruit, and not a vegetable). For years, almost all commercial bananas were a single variety. And then a fungus literally wiped it out. So the wonderful and smart commercial companies switched to another SINGLE variety. I suspect that some smarter companies are experimenting with other varieties.

The building with the veranda and balcony looks amazing.
