Taming of the shrew

4211fa7ca06396de9ee8c271b38d424b

Shrew? me?……. yes you!

oh my I had not thought of myself as a shrew…

hmmm what to do…

oh, the dictionary says I’m a cute mammal

with a long pointed snout

and tiny eyes…. kinda cute….

oooooh, you don’t mean that shrew!

9b3531a0d197ad71a7b25f029cddd9a5.jpg shrew

oh oh, a shrew is also a bad-tempered, aggressively assertive woman

really, this is what you think of me

oh my goodness….. your reality is your perspective isn’t it???

so somewhere in my personality I must demonstrate such traits

a235f785e9ae27da7d89f32e0b31907dwhat to do, what to do

if I care for you , which I do

I must assume some responsibility

for how I am perceived…

yes… I must, I must…

df4d41766b3b726ba4e4ba7236e3a0bb

small in this world I may be

but the power of love

is huge, it will help me to

make the changes in my life that I need to

so  the cute shrew I’ll be

by setting the negative in me free.

sew…sow…so

sewing machine

Meet  Tabitha, a sewing machine (1886-1890) a work of art. The exquisite details, I wonder what it was like to work with. It looks like it must have been very heavy.

sewing machinem victorian weir pedestal treadle

This model is a Victorian Weir Pedestal Treadle machine, operated with your feet, it would have allowed for movement of the material with two hands.  Not that sewing isn’t a labour of love now, of course it is, but the modern-day  machines make sewing a little less tedious than it might have been in days gone by.

So much has changed, lifestyle, clothing, technology…. change is the only constant in life.… AND…. the constant blessings of living in a world where the “Universe/GOD” is “supreme”.

Let us pray that we can come together

openly with the same goal in mind

Peace on earth & goodwill to all

Sow the seed of fellowship in all you do

Be genuine in your actions, let love surround you..

like the seamstress or tailor

that sews with positive intentions

you can be a conduit that brings calm and serenity

to those around you.

DSC01445 in dreams the impossible seems out of reach we climb, stretch and jump towards our goal yet we are tethered to the ground                                                           our feet seem cemented in the past                                                                                                                                                                    how long will this journey last “who knows and who cares” says a voice inside my head                                                                                                                         ” I do, I do,”  says a quiet calmer voice from somewhere within                                    ” oh” says the mind,                                                                                                                                                                                                   “ YOU are still here”                               ”  of course”  the quieter voice replies,” I’m always here                                                                                                                         look down at your feet, they moved at the sound of my voice” The choice is to know that we are always moving forward, in time, once the moment is lived, we can never relive it, know this and move on. Let go, trying to hold on, only holds you back. When we trust and believe that we are here to progress and live our lives to the fullest, we are on the right track.

Blessings all, travel safe in your journeys  today.

the passing

a message to a friend

I heard about your loss today

for a moment I felt such a sadness

she had been your friend such a long time

now her spirit had been taken away

then, on reflection I realized the kindness

of it all, her pain and suffering had been released

she was at peace

DSC01454

a gentle caring soul, her spirit will always

be felt, by family and friends who got to know and experience

her genuine warmth and laughter

for her, the life long journey here is behind her

she left with such grace, to the very end

she walked the path she believed in

she was an inspiration

I for one, celebrate  her passing

she is free and where she wants to be.

What a beautiful day

eae0190105b6bba2cf03558efb727075

“I came upon a sacred view along my way;

While walking through the woods one day, Such calm & beauty gave me pause

when it appeared like a dream;

While I beheld this enchanted woodland scene,

With the steady flow of water softly falling & emitting very little sound;

As it caressed the small rocks & fertile ground…”

Mosaics

rabbit mosaic by Doreen A Smaligirl

White Rabbit 1-b by Doreen A Smaltigirl on Flickr.

Mosaics – how time-consuming a real work of love.  Not something I would attempt. Nor do I always feel an appreciation for the craft.  Seeing this piece on a rabbit running, looking at his time piece, reminded me of the Alice in Wonderland story and the Mad Hatter.  To achieve this delightful piece of art, the artist had to first visualize what  he/she wanted to achieve.  The many hours (days, nights, even weeks) would have been spent putting it all together.

So it is for many of the projects we begin in life that are part of our own “make over”.  There isn’t a day goes by where someone I know isn’t doing something  or preparing something for … when???  If I do this now I’ll have time to do XYZ  later.  Its called planning ahead. Me, I no longer maintain that activity in my “top drawer”   I don’t really know when this “habit” changed, somewhere along the way, unconsciously it went down to a “when I get to it” drawer.

This is another craft that requires attention to detail, planning and patience.  I look at this and my mind is in awe of the time and the focus that this artist had to have had to complete this piece.  My kudos to both creators of the works shown in this blog today.  My hat is off to both of you.

My creative level today leans towards scrambled eggs.  I kid you not…

I was late, I was late

Welcome Thursday, goedendag

caves, kunkeld,Scotland

A hermit slept, deep within a cave

so deep was her slumber she slept a decade

when finally she awoke

the moss was thick and the waters ran clear

cave Parc des Buttes Chaumont, Paris, France

in the cave she felt protected, she was calm

but blue skies beckoned and  birds called

soon, she felt the longing for the sun on her face

and to once more know the joy of all the seasons

winter, spring, summer and fall

with trusting heart she responded to the call

for she knew, and believed, this need, came to her for a reason

mushrooms

Sometimes when we listen to our inner voice……it comes from the heart…… In stepping outside her comfort zone …..she found a new world of sights and sounds..that offered new choices. It is easy to hide, and stay where we feel safe…. but … without new challenges  to expand our horizons, there is no “out” or “escape”  from our self-imposed mental cage.

Life is to be lived.  Value your Intuition, if you feel stifled, if current situations in life no longer stimulate and excite your passions, take heed, notice what you are feeling.  Happiness is a state of mind that only you can give yourself.

Spiritual maturity requires diligence and Makoto (sincerity)

I rediscoverd the joy of  spending time with you

treasures you share every day

this is your domain

Fire and ice

fire

Like a moth to a flame I was drawn

at first the call … was a simple spark

then the  fire spread…

my gaze  held captive… by  dancing flames

I was lost… lost in the embrace of

of an unearthly man made calm

<> on January 23, 2013 in Chicago, Illinois.

A blazing fire turns to ice as seen in this photograph (CBSlocal.com) – Firefighters battling a massive fire, during frigid temperatures. (Chicago 1.23.13)

fire coal and smoke, desktop-wallpaper.org

When love first blooms, the fire’s spell spreads like molten lava

weaving highs and lows that ignite and burn deep and deeper

all too soon the fire’s intensity starts to weaken

Only the dying embers remain

…and…

soon they will be gone

leaving only the memory

no more … no less

fire picture yoga pose

The eternal flame within,

our own true passion

 the Divine essence of Life

never dies, never fails us

for we are born ONE

fire molten

True everlasting  love

is not outside our SELVES

but the spiritual flame

that gives us life.

now … always
