when you opened a door or closed one
there was a “feel” to it, that doesn’t come with the automobiles of today.

what is it about the past that makes my heart do double flips
I see an old vintage car or truck on the road
and I’m totally smitten and want to get a better look
someone has toiled and laboured… beyond a doubt that machine is loved
the vehicle is totally refurbished, and proudly  driven
what is it .. that not only I, but many others
find so fascinating and worth hours and hours of
dedicated  time and often cost without a second thought
to satsifying our passion for a vehicle long past its prime
I’ve driven by old forgotten garages, on out-of-the-way
and long forgotten highways… we see the closed and boarded up shops
where once people from all around, drove miles to patronize
and now… these shops, and services, on streets in small towns
that are no longer on a busy  thoroughfare
sit bare, empty, and often forlorn, with not hope  of being reclaimed
The merchants, the florists, the cafe owners, all their hopes and dreams have faded
and finally died… forcing them to close up.. and move on…
yet the cars and trucks of yesteryear .. left to rust and be reclaimed by nature.
or sent to their rest in rows upon rows of burnt out metal and chrome
are sought out and given new life… by men and women who want to recapture what was.
Something holds us to the past, not only the vehicles
but the empty barns, farmhouses, abandoned buldings

pinners who have a strong penchant for what was….. and i am a mere novice

Never too old to learn.  You may have noticed my passion for vintage, retro trucks.  It turns out I’m not alone in this love of what is sometimes called “precious metal” by the fans of Street Rodders, Pick ups, Jeeps. you name if its on wheels and it has a motor  when I went looking for information on this “interest” of mine, except for the usual magazines on new vehicles and trucks, I found zip.  Then after church yesterday,not having the car I decided to the  walk a mile or so to the shopping mall.  There I found a Chapters where I was delighted to see a section will all kinds of magazines that caught my attention. Canadian Hot Rods, The pick up issue. (Wow), even found a JP magazine (Jeeps, you have to know I was beside myself with happiness.  Outside the store while waiting for my husband I saw a magazine called Bounder in a vendor with free reading material.  I leaned in for a closer look, it looked like one of the pricey magazines that I had just paid for in Chapters.  No, it did say Complimentary on the cover, I also saw that it had something in it about Classic Cars, of course I took a copy.
The magazine says it is “by- for-about men”  The title of the magazine uses the symbol  for man/male instead of the letter O, when it spells out Bounder.   Except for one or two articles, I read it from cover to cover, the next issue Wheels Edition, will out in spring 2015.  It seems that copies are getting harder and harder to find, they do provide a partial list in the magazine, but if you are interested, you might want to contact Brian Warren e-mail   boundermag@gmail.com   Bounder magazine is a production of Warrenty Communications Inc.
Ok now to the meaty part =^_^=  in the past if anyone had said to me “precious metal” my eyes would have sparkled and I would have thought immediately of gold,platinum and more gold, even better encrusted with precious gemstones.
Now decades into my life’s journey I discover that under that heading I can put my love of old trucks and cars. Â In my research I also discovered that many of the boards I visited in Pinterest were hosted by ladies. Â There are a huge numbers of women out there with a passion for the vintage vehicle. Â AND for those of you unaware of who most of the designers and makes of the vintage jewelry were, it was mostly men.
Always in life it takes Yin/Yang, male and female energies to make a whole.  In the fashion world, how many of the greats were and are male. It is the wearer that showcases the design, and in the automotive world, it may be dominated by the builders (often males), but it is the drivers who  in the end determine the success of the product.
Learning can be such a pleasure, in PL we strive to find new ways to improve ourselves and to continue to move forward, one step at a time, just do it.. Â You never know what you will learn that will bring about more “happy happy happy”

What is it that attracts me to old trucks, cars, motorcycles, and bikes? Â I haven’t a clue. Â In recent years I’ve noticed that more and more I am drawn to pictures where one or more are featured. Â Driving along hwy 37 in NY State past farms with old barns, I found myself searching for sight of a rusted out car. Â More in the States than along the highways here, I’m rewarded by vintage vehicles being driven or for sale. Â Some are covered in rust and barely standing, yet they have an allure for me.
Be still my heart, how this rusted decaying, bucket of metal can stir my emotions, I’ll never know. Â But how I love to look at it.. the vibrant colours that takes place as it goes through its changes. Â the way nature welcomes it back into her embrace. Â So far I’ve only been able to gaze in wonder at the wonderful pictures I’ve found posted on Pinterest or other social media sites.
These are the colours I want to wear this fall. Â In redoing my fall/winter wardrobe, I am searching out these colours. Â There is something rich and satisfying about this palette, in the States I have been able to acquire a pair of old faded and worn, army fatigue pants and the matching long sleeve lite. jacket/shirt. Â Obviously I can’t wear then at the same time, I look ridiculous since, I’m obviously not of an age that I would be in service, but the blended colours are soothing to the eye, and calming when worn with colours that harmonize. (mixed casual attire) Â So, I’m eccentric, I’m happy =^_^=.
I am not alone with this old truck/car passion, there is an abundant source of art pictures that capture the beauty of the aged vehicles. Enjoy whatever makes you happy today and everyday. Â When we do something we enjoy with Makoto (sincerity) we reap the rewards 100 fold. Â Have you thought about the colours you wear and why you wear them?
