The opinions of those who are younger may lead to new solutions, and we can always learn from the accumulated experiences of our elders.

Good Morning everyone…

The picture above, was taken by local nature photographer Dan Cadieux, https://www.instagram.com/dancadphotography I have known Dan now for many years, we run into each other in/on the nature trails in the area. He knows of my love and friendship with crows. He shared this picture with me, that he took a few years back. It was taken on a day when the temperatures were just above zero degrees, it was a fall morning, the wasps were semi-dormant…. his patience and quiet determination got him this great photo… Isn’t it fabulous. If you love nature, and like pictures that show case the nature around us, please give Dan’s photo gallery a look. He has a unique way of presenting his finds….. I’ve seen him lying in the mud on the side of the road * camera focused on a puddle where robins are bathing for hours if need be to get just the picture he wants… thanks Dan for sharing your amazing talent with us….

Wasp sting

Stretched out on a sunny bench enjoying a sunny day, clear blue skies, being totally lazy and enjoying the afternoon sun after the cooler morning weather.. was on the pier surrounded on all sides by water except for the small walkway that led from the shore to this cement pier out from the boat launch. I was happily minded my own business when I heard a buzzing near my left ear…. I reached up to brush it away from my hair/ear when this stabbing pain shot through my arm. Instant , and I mean instant searing pain. I shot up into a sitting position, but couldn’t see a thing. it was a hit and run…

If you have experienced a wasp/bee sting yourself, I need not go into detail, if you haven’t.. don’t go looking for it… Fortunately Bonnie had finished her walk and had arrived back to where I was.. we went to a drugstore right away to get something to deal with the pain, It was not something to ignore.. I looked for a stinger but didn’t see one… just a finger that was swelling and getting red. “after Bite” is the product they sold me at the pharmacy. When I got home I immediately took two Bendery allergy pills.

Having google has its benefits.. It was interesting that yes the area got all red but you could see a white dot where I had been stung… just like it was explained when I did the google search. One learns something new .. all the time.

I was told in the pharmacy that there were a lot of wasps in the area, it seems this is the season for them, the yellow jacket. was known for being plain vicious biting, just because.

Today’s PL calendar quote..

Let’s have a humble mind. Once you think, “That’s good enough,” you become blind to the opportunities to be more creative.

wasp sting.. wash affected area with warm water and soap, this removes any poison/venom that could be left on the skin, use an antibiotic with properties to help with the sting and the itching, if you have allergy pills take one/two….the pain and stinging sensation lasts for a couple hours to 4 or 5. The internet is full of info on how to deal with a sting.. if you suffer from severe reactions see a doctor right away. Especially if you have problems with your breathing. The symptoms could hang around for a couple of days… yeah.. on the positive, I learned something new.. it has been years since I’ve had to endure a sting…
