When I went to Japan a couple of years back for training, I landed in a heat that was smothering.  I’ve been in the Florida sun, the heat of southern California, but never the relentless heat that was beating down in the area of Japan I was in for the training.  I can’t recall the exact reason, but the air conditioning was not working on campus, so not only did I have to adjust to living surrounded by a strange language and more people than I am used to in a given day, I had to adapt to sleeping in Japanese dorm style accommodations.

These were the wonderful ladies from Spain, my roomies.  Ana back left was the only one who spoke any English.  Even with the heat, the foreign languages, somehow we all got along, and had not only a good time, we created GREAT lasting memories.

IMG_7069

Days like today, when I start to want to complain about the heat, I think back to when we learned how to work and pull together, enjoying the moments. the heat forgotten, just the combined energy of  “community”  singing and encouraging each one another.

We came from all over,  together we renewed our commitment to working towards World Peace.  Whether in Japan, or back home. the objective is still the same, in working to be a better person, every step will lead to living with love in our hearts, and World Peace that much more of a reality.

green everywhere

I am blown away by some of the photographs that fellow bloggers post.  There are several who capture the most amazing pictures of flowers, not just the flower, but their artist reproduction of it as they see it through their lens is very interesting.

P1000141

Living in the city, right next to the downtown core, the object of our landscaping when we bought, was to allow nature to grow and give us a bit of country in our own private space.  Perennials were fine while the trees and shrubs were growing, but as the bones of the garden grew, the perennials soon lost their place in the sun. Add two active dogs to the mix, and…  …. we now enjoy the serenity of an escape from the concrete and buildings around us, but have lost the colour of the annuals and perennials.

P1000146

This is only the beginning of June.  The garden is only beginning its journey into the growing seasons.  So when I say “Wow, amazing” to my wonderful blogger pals, it is because I’m totally enjoying life through your photography and stories.  Thank you.

Life is gray without friends, my world is full of colour, I am truly blessed.

mohawk, just beyond

When we journey beyond our day-to-day, we come across forgotten places, faded dreams of a yester-year.   There are such places, that I can acknowledge and let pass.  Two ships in the night.  Other places shout out to me, calling for my attention.  So we stop and I survey the land, the energy and “vibe” of the place.    What is it that makes one location stand out from another.

IMG_1606

Same stop, different camera angle.  Maybe seconds have passed, maybe it was more like a few minutes.  But in the fraction of time my gaze and attention was diverted.  The light, the view was different.  So it is in life.  When first a challenge faces us, if we listen and take in what it is we are dealing with, our response and reaction will vary.   If you are two people, arriving at the same time, seeing the same thing, neither of you, will see it the same way, sometimes close, and other times..totally different.

IMG_1608

That is why communication, conversation is so important, if there is dialogue between two people, even between two energies, there is compatibility or there isn’t.  To be a good communicator, listening has to be one of your most used tools.

The place may seem empty, but…………. the reality is ………………………..it is alive with memories.

A cul du sac, all on its own could be seen from the highway, had to go back.  I felt such a strong draw … such a sense of abandonment from a place that had once had such a wonderful exciting and vibrant life.  The architecture of the houses with the faux fronts.. loved them.

A blessing and silent prayer for all of you today

Monday, yay another week!

DSC00393

Sunday morning found me standing in gales of wind, trying to capture this beauty without being blown away.  A chain like fence wasn’t making it easier for me, but I wanted to capture the iron bird waiting to fly.

DSC00390

A different plane stood by, they both looked like the were waiting.  I searched the area for signs of life, there were vehicles in the parking lot, but no signs of humans.  This training field is near the Asian grocers where I shop, so I do often see small planes waiting for their next chance to soar up into the clouds.  I had a service to be at, so didn’t get to stand around, one day I’ll have the timing right, meanwhile, I will enjoy them at rest.

A plane did soar through the skies above … but t was a big commercial plane heading off into the yonder.  The main airport is not far from the location where I was standing…  Unless you live or are near an airport, or a flight path… you seldom see or hear a plane these days.  Just because we don’t hear or see them, doesn’t mean they are not there.

DSC00407

Later, in the afternoon I found myself out in the other end of the city, travelling down a road where this factory or industrial building caught my eye.  During the week this place would be busy with big cement trucks and other industrial machinery working away … I would not have been drawn to the place.  Probably driven by without giving it a glance.  But yesterday it was the shapes and colours that drew my attention.  It was a must that we drive down so that I could get out and walk to where I could get a better look.

There is something wonderfully appealing in the creative world around us.  It is so diverse.  How can we not marvel at the minds that pulled together to create so many of “hard core” ART around us in our everyday lives.  I drive a truck, I enjoy getting in and being able to drive to where I want to go.  It is important to remember  and appreciate all the things we so easily take for granted in life.

The pilot might fly the plane, but he had to train, someone had to build the plane, it didn’t build itself, the hours of testing, the research and developement for the bet materials, the combinations, the safety standards, so much goes into our being able to live the lives we do.  Let’s remember to give thanks, and to appreciate not only the people around us, but the many things in life that make our lives easier.

giving thanks, gratitude

appreciation

country roads

MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

There are times, when we are simply on a road, going nowhere in particular, just going.  Sometimes roads are long and winding, other times, they simply are a cleared piece of land that cuts through a woodland, hillside, or acres of farmed land.  Before it was the norm to have air conditioning in a car, we would drive with the windows open, experiencing the highs and lows of the ambience around us.  Our senses were alert to all the world around us, including the dust that swirled around the car on hot lazy days, pebbles hitting the side of the car, the manure in the fields.  We were bombarded with a myriad of sights, sounds and smells.  We looked around more, we took in everything around us.

We took the tracks that led to places that were simply “lost in time”…   When we stopped the world came alive with different sounds, and the blissful renderings of a countryside alive with the sounds of nature gave us a rhapsody of “quiet”
