Traffic stops

when these darlings decide its time to cross the road (photo NumOttawa)

I was driving along drinking in the wonderful greenery on all side of me … when I spied two turkeys’ casually standing by the side of the road. I slowed down to a crawl waiting to see what they would do… as I was doing so, I saw two cars coming in the other direction… they did likewise. We sat, waited while the two divas took their time walking across to the other side of the road, disappearing into the woods. ,On a busy city street, when traffic is just a blur, I don’t know that I’d be so patient. There is something very calming about being in “the country”… we (the drivers) who frequent these roads that lead to trails and greenspaces, are in a different zone when we turn off the main roads, into our tranquil zones.

Do things joyfully instead of taking it easy. Enthusiastically engage with what’s in front of you. You’ll enjoy it more.

  1. Very nice. So much fun! The Turkey Strut!!

  2. So kind of you all to wait for them to cross the road!

    • it is really the rule of the road in Greenspaces. conservation areas.. they are.. our charges.
=^_^= in areas where we get a lot of human traffic on week-ends, and nice weather days when people want to hike do the trails, etc.. if they are close to the roads, they have more or less come to know we will be aware of them.. those not that comfortable go further into the woodlands.. they see only the more serious walkers/hikers.. not the out of the day visitors.
