Hula Hamster JOY

hula hamster xy This precious handmade hamster, makes my heart sing. She puts a smile in my heart just by sitting there smiling back at me.

hula hamster x The last few days have been difficult for me. I have found myself drifting into a state of “low drive and little interest ” When I could I retreated to my bed, the quiet of a darkened room and the desire to sleep. My sleep mates were only too happy to crawl under cover and enjoy time out from the weather that was raging outside.

Today I had to go out, there were errands that needed doing, so after a lazy start to the day, I took myself off to do what needed doing. When I arrived at the church I was surprised with JOY, the adorable Hula Hamster. Oh what a gift. I melted and was totally taken in by her charm.

Loving caring friendships are priceless. JOY lifted me out of the shadows , back into the sunshine. Olinda weaved a magic spell, I am blown away. Thank you. I am reminded that in life, in a split second, the sun can break through the clouds, and all is right again.

snow day

It has been snowing now, all day. At least it appears to have been snowing since early this morning, it could have even snowed over night.

Temperature has been nice. The few times I went outside to let the dogs in or out, I found it to be very pleasant.

The dogs have pointed me to a quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson ” Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail”. This is the back yard, their trails have all gone missing…

Some how I do believe they are hinting. Will the human take the hint? One of life’s mysteries.

Hello, bonjour, bom dia, and jumping jack greetings to each and every one of you. Another new year is just around the corner, In China the airports, train stations, all methods of travel really, are homeward bound. It is exciting, and alive time. Seeing friends and family sharing huge family meals, and gatherings.

Since my Mother’s passing and for several years before she actually passed, the Chinese New Year came and went with a happy conversation and a small sparkle. She was unable to get to the various celebrations held around the city or at the Chinese Embassy. Since I can remember, Chinese New Year has been the BIG turning point for me. I remember as a child the banquet and feasts, the dragon dances, fire crackers and the many many ritual tasks that were preformed to make sure we started the new year off with gratitude for the past year and much appreciation for the wonderful time ahead. Good fortune, Prosperity wishes were everywhere. Red envelopes, special candies, Happy New Year greetings always included the wish that your life be blessed with good health.

With my husband’s passing last year I wanted more than ever for this transition into another year to be auspicious and filled with the many joys and encouragements we would share to be 100 fold. I worked on a year of the pig mixed media piece so that I would be actively piecing together elements that would be like a visual firecracker for me. The lunar new year depending on where you live, is o the 5th. of February.

Ps… my little wheel around the pig. spins.

Reminder.. due to the storm and the broken water pipe, there will be no service today, but Thanksgiving service is still scheduled for tomorrow evening at 7 pm.

I came home today to find a beautiful floral piece with miniature fairy lights. The lights twinkle and dance merrily in their space. The display is magical. Even on the grayest of days, they will be an inspiration. =^_^=

Bom dia, Good start to the day! Breakfast? Lunch? Dinner? What do you eat, when do you eat, do you skip meals, do you like vegetables. Food is a topic that is talked about all over the world, day in and day out.

Gosh I had potatoes today when I really wanted rice. I could have had spaghetti, I’ve been thinking about pasta for days. We have to eat. AND… we have to or should drink so many glasses of water a day. Knowing this, we either have to come up with what we want to eat, then how we will go about getting the meal we want with or without a lot of effort on our part. In some way, form or another.

Day 18 PL calendar – You will feel better when you take immediate action.

Things have a way of getting more complicated when you procrastinate. Work on taking immediate action and you will discover many ways to tackle the situation.

My eating habits are nothing like they were when I was younger. Change is constant in my life. But no matter how my tastes have changed, for better or worse, I have to eat, Yet I dither, I procrastinate, then out of habit, I will see the time, and fix myself something to eat. It may be nothing like what I had hoped for, or thought I would eat. Can anyone else relate?

Choices, we all have to make them. How are you doling these days? The week-end is here, do you change your meal choices for the week-end? Just asking… =^_^=

Day 16 of the PL calendar for 2019

Even thought you may have put your best effort into doing something, you still may have made some mistakes. That is why it is important to always work with a prayerful mind.

Be happy, live to spread happiness and joy wherever you go – people will think you mad, but oh how divine it is to share a smile with another being. A dog wags his tail enthusiastically when you say hello, the cat, rushes to snuggle and purr in your arms. ah there is an unspoken bliss when we are harmonizing. Try it. You may like it.

PL Principle 21 will live in true harmony with the world around me.

flashback 2006

back yard a2006 The last few days, maybe even weeks, I have found myself thinking of a different time and what was. How a young garden, took shape, and grew till it no longer resembled what was.

Life mirrors nature, the link between the two has been established since way before I was born. I am only now pulling the fragments of the past into what I have been living and what is to come. I can feel the stirring of new beginnings, I know that I am already well into discovery mode.

Today, day 15 of the PL Calendar – Live with firm determination, thinking that “this will turn out for the best”

Everything in this world progresses an develops. Always be positive, knowing that everything will turn out for the best.

Yesterday I drove to Montreal, the day was bright, balmy and welcoming. Each mile was a new beginning. Even though I have travelled this route many times, it was like a first visit. The landscape along the way, simply would not be still. The shades of late autumn strutted their charms against the blankets of pristine snow. I felt their happy waves, and delighted in the variety of picture postcards they flashed my eager eyes as I drove by. Mother Nature, stayed with me all the way, the best tour guide ever.

2006a Life is a blessing, I am filled with appreciation and gratitude. Thank you all for sharing my world, Life is love, and love is YOU and the world we are in.

Kejimkujik National Park, Nova Scotia, a very large and lovely area, with many hiking trails, rivers and falls. Included are areas sacred to the indigenous MiKmaw people of Nova Scotia. (photo M. Lewis)

I saw the picture on social media, and was totally blown away, especially after I found the face that was looking out from behind the trees. I just loved the picture… so was taking a closer look, and et voila, beautiful isn’t it. The photographer, often has breath-taking photos… this one, begged a second look. I am so thankful, that my request to use the picture was greeted with an affirmative answer. Another reason for considering visiting Nova Scotia again. It has been too long since my last visit.

PL Calendar, day 12 Be cheerful and Carefree

Without putting on airs or trying to be someone you aren’t just be yourself. This will give people a good impression of you and things will move forward in the right direction.

This world is filled with wonders still to be discovered. Let’s go forward into 2019, with peace in our hearts, and the desire to be in, and share more of the natural wonders in this great land of ours.

gimme bling

A black void. As an artist, I had a moment the other day, where I wanted to express that very moment, not think about anything but saying, Blah. Snap, and so what. Followed by many exclamation marks.

My eyes searched my workroom… till they fell on a big bottle of black glue. Ah Ha! I took an old canvas and began to just vent with the glue on the canvas. It was black and shiny that I dug out a bottle of cut glass pieces I had for dear knows what reason… and some gold cording. Then gave way to.. come what may.

Voila… t’is a black void. my sometime co-pilot, when she saw it, said it looked like “inside a sparkling cave filled with shiny somethings. enchanting” =^_^= I have been blessed with wonderful kind friends.

In the sunlight or under a light, it is true it has bling. Bling that winks and shines in a very cheerful way. This is an example of, starting out with a blank – need to just vent/express…. letting go, and then seeing the results.

PL Calendar day 9 (2019) It’s interesting because it’s different

Even if someone totally disagrees with you or does things differently, you may learn something from them. Avoid getting trapped in the mindset, “This is the way it has to be” and free your mind to consider other possibilities.
