Why not,  some of these funnies have been going around for years, when I got a package of them this morning, I thought why not share.  The talented cartoonists and illustrators  captured in one “picture” what might take pages to say otherwise..

When I was younger (much  younger and starting to work full-time) I remember having similar thoughts, about being old enough to make my own decisions, and someone, usually my Mother, trying to reason with me on various matters.  It is only when I got much older did I realize how right she had been.  I didn’t think so at the time though.  When we are young we think that the experiences we have and the challenges we face are soooooooo unique..  in reality, we all fall in love, we are all at some time left feeling lost and lonely, and we all have a tendency to forget that each and every other person in our lives has known the same pangs of emotions we have.

train222_2008_03031801

This next one… the moment I saw it, several people came to mind that I love dearly, but immediately their faces sprang up when I “reacted” to this illustration .. No two people are alike, and it is not always about a person’s mannerisms, looks or method of conversation that keep us friends, it is their  loyalty, sincere friendship,  & the willingness to accept us as we are.

A relationship worth having is one that experiences the highs and lows of life in a way that respects the differences and accepts the adventure of life in a way that is compatible with yours.

PL Precept #1     Life is Art

Snow and tranquility

snow day 5

The snow was beautiful today, it was light, fluffy and brought with it a warmer weather that made it a delight to walk from the mall to the car. When I got to the car U wasn’t so enthralled,  In the short time I had been in the mall, the car was covered in a blanket of snow that obscured all the details, leaving just the outline of the Rav.  The windows were in need of a good brushing, I’d also have to clear off the roof or the snow would fall and impede my view while driving.  Guess where my gloves were?

snowday 4

Noooo  you really  don’t want to know what crossed my mind when I realized I’d have to move snow from the doors and windows prior to opening the door with my sleeve. =^_^= … the little crystals of snow, were dainty and fluffy, they were floating around like little feathers.  I couldn’t help but appreciate their charm.  That didn’t stop me from realizing that they would all dive into the car as soon as I opened the door.   So be it.  After all my gloves would be inside, then I could start the car, and come back out and clear the car, AND if I was lucky the brush with the long handle would be handy. … … …. It wasn’t.

snow day 6

The drive home was slow….. like turtles all in a row we crawled.   Big trucks were turning and sliding around corners a seasoned winter driver, I knew to leave a car length between my car and the one in front,, more if I could. Those who didn’t chanced kissing bumpers.  More than once I had to double brake to deal with the mush and greasy road surface.  My adventure, its times like this that I talk to the Universe and count my blessings.

Snowday 3

Life is to be enjoyed, and no matter what, I do my best to find the happy in whatever it is I’m living.  Even if it  is to walk into my “upset” room for a moment to vent, once I’ve done it, I can walk back out, close the door and move on.  Expression is a gift, try to be as creative as you can, if you hold back the negative moment will fester, if you acknowledge it, and give it is due, the moment passes.   Trust me, in life there is always balance, you can’t have “one”  with out the other..

slow down

Today I saw a transformation that until I witnessed it, I had only heard about.  In the PL church, not so much in North America but in Japan, and Brazil, during service, members of the congregation will stand and testify of the changes, positive and affirmative that Pl has made in their lives.  I myself have felt and been blessed with knowing the wonder, contentment, joy and rewards of having a profound experience.  Today I saw it.

A friend was in a very anxious state, and asked if she could come to our church and pray.  She is not a member, nor had ever expressed any interest, I was surprised but pleased that she felt that coming to the church would help her to cope with her current “problems”  I called ahead to know if a minister would be available, and yes there would be.

This friend is a strong woman of faith, she attends her church on a regular basis, and makes every effort to do a pilgrimage   yearly to the bigger cities and the shrines there.  I had not seen her in a number of weeks and was taken a back when I saw her, she had aged, and seemed totally defeated and sad.  Life had been throwing her “a lot of curve balls.”

We get busy in life, and I immediately felt a pang of guilt that I had not kept in touch, but life is what it is, and there simply had not been the “right” moment.  Our church as I have mentioned is non-denominational, I knew my friend to be a very staunch catholic and I wondered what had brought her to this moment, where she wanted to pray in “my” church. If you are aware of the inside of a catholic church and the inside of a Japanese, zen type room, this would have been a totally “new” experience for her.

She walked in with what appeared to be the burdens of the world on her shoulders.. When she came out of her consultation with Rev. Tiago, she literally glided out into the area where I was sitting.  Her face was radiant, and as she threw her arms wide, she said,”I feel a hundred pounds lighter”.  She glowed.  Her face, her posture, her voice, it was amazing.

The 21st is Thanksgiving in PL (Perfect Liberty),  I will give thanks for having been a part of this wonderful day, I myself had to slow down, I had to go into waiting mode… while she was with Rev. T.  and I really really enjoyed it. I was present in the now, and simply B E I N G.

a sincere request

Australia

In the quiet of my heart, I ask

that I be blessed with the ability

to disagree without being disagreeable

share my convictions

without being contentious

to lift up truth

without putting

others down.

In this quiet moment of prayer

I ask  for help with unresolved

perplexities that weigh on me

I trust in the Universe to guide my thinking

unravel my difficulties

and empower my decisions.

I am ready for this day

I plan to live it with

freedom and joy

Happy New Year   (Feb.19.2015)

Time to celebrate, to welcome in a brand new year. the eighth sign in the lunar calendar the Sheep/Goat year (wood) .  If you were born under this sign you usually tend towards the arts, are sensitive and talented.  Extremely creative, elegant and charming, peace-loving, easy-going, ardent, you can get along with nearly everyone,  It is said that people born in the year of the Sheep, are viewed as the most artistic and Yin/ feminine signs of the Chinese zodiac. That this is the year of the wood sheep, usually means that children born this year will be even more artistic and considerate of others.

In China the goat/sheep is seen as a harbinger of peace.  The goat/sheep is associated with harmony, creativity, peace and pleasure.

Musubi

window witdh a view

Good Morning everyone

Musubi is a Japanese word used in PL, that translates, Oneness, togetherness with other.  Another word you hear us use a lot is Makoto, this means, One’s utmost sincerity. When we refer to an act of God, you hear Kanwaza, God’s Act.  There are other words of course that are used, when asked why, it was replied that using the basic Japanese words, in the teachings, meant  that when in countries with their own languages, ie. Spanish, French, Portuguese, English etc. the essence of the teachings would remain standard,   Translations can often unintentionally be misinterpreted or represented

Mishirase means, Divine warning, in the form of an illness, a misfortune an accident, pain or suffering.

In a recent article by Dr. Kunihiko Do, who is head of the OBGYN Dept. at the PL Hospital in Japan, and a PL Minister, he says “don’t forget that most diseases start with a little cold that gets worse.  Be thankful that you ‘just’ have a cold and receive a Mioshie for it,” he also suggests a consultation.

Mioshie, is Divine Instructions given to PL members to help them learn and improve their there Mishirase.

Through consultations given by PL ministers, you receive personal guidance tailored to your individual character and situation. We, each and every one of us has our own unique personality and lifestyle, therefore we all need to follow and practice our faith in a way that works for us.

This last picture is of the sunset on a beach on the Pacific, in California.  You can see the photographers gathered to catch this wonderful happening.  What a collective awe-inspiring moment, yet each and every one of them will have their own appreciation of the moment.

help me enjoy life as it  unfolds

to live to the fullest each hour and second of the day

if life has its own holding pattern

that requires patience

Help me trust in the way of the Universe

by your grace and with your guidance

I will live with makoto (sincerity)

into the mist

Xsa on the beach_003

So tired, I found a place to lay my head

slowly I felt the tension  ease away

the world was quiet, yes there were sounds

but somehow, I knew that they were not part of me

I was safe in my space, this warm welcoming embrace

mist 1 flickr

I am set adrift

like the quiet days at the cottage

when I could paddle on the lake while the mist still danced

along the water and the soft sounds of nature

filled my head with joys of solitude

when I was ONE with nature

and my heart, body and soul

found peace

on warm summer days I made my way

through the trees, to the cottage on the cliff

the sun would shine through the trees,

the rough path to get there

always familiar to my feet

I’d climbed it since my youth

now, love and faith

draws me home

mist 3

ahead there is a light

I know my loved ones wait for me there

its been a good life

can you hear me God

I’m coming home

lace and life

lace

Once upon a time, I thought I would like to try my hand at doing something different.  I had seen some beautiful pieces at an antique show and wondered how it was done. Having a creative streak that just won’t quit, I began to ask around and was surprised that in my circle of friends, no one tatted or knew of anyone who did. For lace, it was also an unknown art to my immediate creative buddies.  We were one of a kind doll makers, we sculpted, sewed and worked with totally different media.

lace tatting 1940

This is a picture of a cover from a tatting book from the 1940’s. In my treasure hunting expeditions, I had seen such a tool and had not known what it was and no one around could educate me either.  Now of course with access to google search and other such vehicles, information is more at hand.  Tatting is a dying art form, it requires a ton of patience, and a love for working with very fine material and following a pattern.

lace and tatting

When I reflect back on what I could have done, and what I in the end, have done….  well …. the methods of applying my gray matter, processing information, working with chicken wire, wire, precious and semi precious metals, sculpting materials like Apoxie Sculpt. or the liquid polymers like Paverpol  and Powertex, all gave me creative ways to express my ideas, feelings and thoughts in a visual way.

needle felted by Q

This is a needle felted dancer that i did during my love affair with sheep, fleece and roving.  I like form, movement, and a sense of whimsy, I want abstract so that the viewer can find their own connection to my work.

Q paverpol victorian

Here a Victorian “mystery” woman walks away, or if she is in your garden, and you are walking towards her, =^_^= you’ll meet her in a different way. This was done with wire, and fabric so that it could withstand Canadian climate, she does come in during the winter months..

Q crochet hat

Crocheting  a hat so I could display felted flowers was the closest I got to lace and tatting.  We all express ourselves differently, what is important is that we do so in a way that will please us, and in so doing bring a smile to others.  For all of us who love to express ourselves, visually, vocally, (the written word is to me a visual expression) we are given the skills, and the tools, it is up to us to  create our own works of art.

When we do whatever it is we are attempting to do, with our full makoto (sincerity) and focus, our results are usually more positive and appealing to us and others.  Right… not everyone will like what you say or do, however, if you have spoken or applied love  and kindness into your actions, you have done your best.  That is really all you can do.

My father in law is as I write this,  is in his final days  here on earth.  He has lived a long and productive life (99) a man who till very recently was totally focused on what he needed and wanted.  He gave love, laughter and life to family and friends, now in the quiet of this journey, I visually see his life, like a piece of lace, beautiful in the making, and his memory will be a reflection of the time, patience and effort he put in to his personal pattern that no one else can replicate.

We create art…  however we ourselves …. are works of art….. life is art………….
