Top of the morning to you Update on the post of the other day, where I showed the garbage strewn all over a public area.. (if you need a reminder this was the post with the litter strewn all over.. https://dymoonblog.com/2023/05/09/crazy-antics/ ) the above pictures show you the scene I found when I returned yesterday. The area had been cleaned up.. the birds could be heard happily singing … the sun shone bright… it was a happy moment. Don’t know who took action, I posted and sent the link to the mayor and a dozen or so councillors along with a few media links.. Whatever, whoever, the Universe worked its magic…The place is once again a serene and beautiful welcoming environment. Oyashikiri.

Keeper is doing much better. She is showing interest in life and the world around her. She even came to bed last night and slept with Velcro and I. I was thrilled. I got my booster shot yesterday, so I was glad for an early night.

If you are still not sure if the mosquitoes are out… They are! so are the black flies. The birds who feed on insects must be in heaven. The woods are teeming with the whirring and buzzing sound of greedy hungry flesh eaters. Ours locally are ugly and savage biters.

Long sleeves, light colours, stay protected, especially if your sensitive to their venom/sting. It will be shorter season, they must know it, and are out there making up for lost time. Still.. weather is good, skies are bright.. . enjoy the outdoors… dress accordingly if you go into the woodlands, be prepared.

Have an age free life. It is not a number its about energy – balance – and – Joy.

My thanks to everyone for your prayers, Keeper is home from the hospital, the Xrays showed no fracture. the tests results were positive. We are on the road to recovery. she is on bed rest for the next two weeks, the prayers and your kindness have been very appreciated.

a door

run, run, hide…. my brain wouldn’t stop chattering… life has been busy, and I’ve had unexpected “situations” to deal with. When I thought of the Thursday Door feature, I thought.. “just me find one open door that I can run through and escape….” Of course all the pictures I’ve collected over time show doors that are closed or are completely missing.

As I lay thinking, trying to keep my mind from dwelling on the fact that my precious Keeper is not well, (whippet) … that there is animosity and family discord happening around me, an 8 year old legal dispute between siblings is rearing its head again… the day/night was a tad over whelming. In my earlier blog, you saw I wrote about “letting go and letting God” … to preserve my own sanity I turned to prayer. Prayer/meditation is like a balm …

Each door in the above photos will take me into and towards another “destination”.. each has its own ambience and flavour. Each door would lead to a different kind of “adventure. Each would transport me to a different place and time.

Reality. my moment is now…. an dmy Precious Keeper is showing signs of improvement this morning, but in the wee hours when I got up to take her out, she was staggering and very weak. I began to give her small amounts of Japanese Green tea, I have read about and known about the healing benefits of tea for a long time.. I’m just not a tea drinker.. fortunately I had some in the cupboard.

She liked it… she actually opened up to allow me to insert the syringe so that the tea would go in easily. In a bit I added a turkey broth with tumeric. (made especially for dogs, but of human grade) We even spent a bit of time outside while she did a bit of sniffing and walking (not a lot, but we did get to exercise the leg a bit)

I often talk about how doors play such an important role in our lives.. as we evolve in life, we are constantly going through one door or another into a new “chapter” in our lives. Today I am asking you, to send positive energy this way… the healing process will be gradual and I will appreciate knowing that there will be an abundance of love/caring energy for me to “lean ” on IF and should I need it.

Letting Go

How many times do I hear something and I think to myself, “really?” I hear negativity everywhere around me, and not want to be unkind, I hear it often. So many individuals seem to be unhappy with their lot in life. There are days when I wonder if I am the only person who enjoys life, who loves and welcomes a new day. I overheard parts of a conversation the other day (I was in a restaurant waiting for my order) It was busy and people were busy catching up, greeting each other, etc. I realized that all around me there was not one conversation where the topic was “happy” ‘positive” and

Typical, I did finish that sentence and actually the whole post, but WP decided to cancel out on me and it all vanished except for what you see above.

LOL basically I was talking about how living in the moment is the only way to go.. once the moment happens it can’t be relived. Guess the Universe decided to give me an immediate example,of, there is no going back. I’m not even going to try.

So dear friends, everyone… for those who can attend, service is at 10 and I will see you at church, for those of you who are heading out to a full day, enjoy, have fun, enjoy! If your ay is over when you read this, hope it was a good one..

crazy antics

Good morning dear friends… It is a sunny day in the woods, and the little squirrels are up to their usual mischief. This little one, is determined to show me her skills and determination at getting at the bits of suet she can get at. We have an ongoing conversation, with her ignoring me most of the time, she no longer natters at me but she does come right up to me and give me the twinkle tease.. in other words . . I can almost hear her saying.. “OK watch, I’m going run up the tree, I saw what you just did” and then she whips around and dashes up the tree on the back side of it only to show up in seconds hanging from the suet feeder. She IS funny, she could just run up the tree and do her thing, but no she actually comes over to where I’m standing leaning against my car… looks up at me and then dashes off to show me her “stunt”.

The location is on NCC (National Capital commission) land, and maintained by the NCC staff and their contractors. The wildlife in the area is protected, much of the land is conservation land.

Not so for the shameful display I’m going to post next.. please skip over if you are sensitive to trash and misuse of public space.

Disgusting, you bet.. .. I found out yesterday by speaking to personnel on the other side of a fenced off area (the tracks are actually in use by VIA rail), trains go by daily for passengers to see this eye sore. I was also informed that the city has been called with complaints numerous times..to no avail.

How many people are turning a blind eye to what is happening in this small area of the city. (Not far from the airport, and in an area that is very much travelled daily by commuters) Would you care if this was happening near you? These pictures are not made up, they were taken yesterday morning. This is minutes away from a public beach and park one of the city’s tourist picture post card areas. yes, really.

Yesterday in my search for more rocks, I stopped by a nature trail that isn’t used much except by those who live in the area, and for those who remember it from days gone by. It is off a busy enough road, and there is an old railway line on part of the land. Birds love the area, it is a cacophony of sound and activity at this time of year. i had not been since last year. I was shocked at what greeted me when I drove into the area. There has been destruction from the previous storms.. trees block the entrance to the areas I have shown you here. pristine looking yes.. I did not .. could not bring myself to take pictures of the debris, garbage and human waste that has been dumped and left to rot , spoil and mar the beauty of this beautiful location.

To get to where I took the pictures, I had to climb over several trees, or walk around on ground that was muddy and not very easy to travel without proper footwear. Plus the waste that has been just dumped was rotting near by, and litter is blowing around, you have to have the stomach and determination to go forward. I knew what was beyond the fallen trees, at least I thought I did. I made the effort even tho’ I was not dressed for climbing over trees being it was Sunday and service was at 10. I’m glad I did, I could show you that the area beyond the fallen trees where cars can’t go… was as you see, still looking inviting, welcoming.

Why do people take and leave their garbage .. their were old tires, garbage bags were throw up into trees??? others had torn open and all the contents were strewn about. The only bird in the area that is like a dump and open sore on the land, was a crow who turned black knowing eyes at me…. he could fly away, even he wasn’t going to stay.

Today’s calendar is about saying Thank YOU, and being grateful, and practicing appreciation for the positives in our lives. Yesterdays discovery was truthfully a shock for me, I do see litter and of course I read about or hear about the thoughtless deeds that happen in and around me … but… it still is a “blow” to know that the land/environment we live in/on and that is so important to our health and our well being is treated so callously and carelessly.

“Thank you” again and again. It feels great if someone tells you Thank you. even many times by repeating this be cone a person who comes up with the words “thank you” naturally.

Please don’t take for granted the green spaces we have left. Trees are important in filtering the air we breathe, the birds, wildlife all play a part in our own survival on this planet. I don’t like all the rules and don’t always agree with what happens in these times, but the land, and the wildlife that live with us on this planet are necessary for our own well being. We are all ONE. Be accountable.

Freedom

Under the clearest of blue skies yesterday, I had the pleasure of meeting a new photographer, we were standing on a lookout watching beavers sleeping in the sun. So unusual to find two beavers, happily having their morning siesta on a big comfy nest they had made for themselves. They were totally undisturbed by the humans who were standing feet away from them (separated by 10 – 20 ft. of water.)

Matt had his camera at the ready and got this great shot of the beaver when she/he turned over to do a bit of grooming. (Matt’s Instagram link is above) The other beaver had a different shade of colouring they were such an adorable sight.

I am often asked why I get up every morning and head out into the “world” to spend time with the wildlife and various other “wanderers” like myself. It is because I am blessed when I do with meeting and interacting with wonderful like minded humans who enjoy nature and follow their dreams/instincts and roam and explore the world around us.

I saw my first red fox yesterday, I was off on a side road looking for more rocks for my rock garden I am working on… when I saw a movement at the side of the road, I slowed to a crawl, et voila, out came a beautiful little fox. She/he was out for a morning stroll.The car now stopped, I waited and watched as it ran across in front of me and then slowed to sit by the fence of the business it was now in front of. We casually looked at one another…. it was very early barely 7 a.m. I tried talking to it… not understanding a word I was saying, it decided i was not worth spending more time on and moved on.

The encounter made me feel good tho’… I had seen my first fox of the year. I have known them to be around when I am walking the trails, but this was my first sighting. Then to later come across the beavers sun bathing… well … it was a good day. Add to it I heard Matt telling another photographer about the picture he got of the bird taking off.. (I asked to see it too… seeing it I knew I wanted to share it with you all..) I had such a sense of freedom … the sun, the drive, new sights, sounds and people, It was a feel good moment, the bird taking flight was a great visual.

what ?

I was searching for the the Northern Flicker, it was persistent with its calls, It wouldn’t let up, the Blue jays, Chickadees even the red winged blackbirds were having something to say, after all, finally a morning of sunshine and no rain. A white throated sparrow joined in along with a Snow goose.. I was wandering, listening and searching through the tree tops for the flicker when another voice joined the cacophy of sound. my reader told me it was a red tailed hawk, this had me really searching the trees. AND then I saw that in all the singing there was a black billed cuckoo joining us.

The purple finch, the house sparrows, evening grosbeaks, yes.. I had a lot of company, but the black billed cuckoo, that was totally new to me.. I began my search in earnest. Alas.. except for a flash of movement and a receding tail end…. (without my Nikon or binoculars) I was doomed to listening. I’m off again this morning with the binoculars this time… to see if it is still there.

I spent over an hour at one site, clearing dead branches and preparing the area for next fall. I needed to get some clearing in .. the new growth once it starts will be strong …. the rain has kept this season a little behind. My Magnolia I saw yesterday … is not enjoying this start to the season. I saw few buds, I hope it pulls through.

If you are wondering, I use a sound recorder, The Cornell lab, Merlin .. I have the ap on my cell phone. It has helped me a lot.. it is very educational.

Make happiness with willingness. People who like to make an effort can enjoy anything. those who spare no effort for anything and anyone know the joy of making art. make an effort with willingness.

observation. I spent over an hour clearing dead branches, fallen logs, etc in a public area, a nature trail, yet I can look at a messy counter in my kitchen and not do dishes till I’m good and ready. when I got home I even got real comfy and lay outside in a new deck chair watching the buds slowly drink in what was left of the afternoon sunshine. A lazy ME moment. Keeper joined me (female whippet)…. the mood and moment carried on into the evening. I call it turning off. Do you do this from time to time? Its healthy for us!

Northern Flicker has been dropping in now and then.. There is something about this woodpecker that makes it adorable. but then I’m a woodpecker “fan”… however, I now know from its calls yesterday… it can be very vocal.
