sheep crossing

Yes, today is Tuesday, and we are once again, taking to the roads,

off to somewhere, where we have not been in a while,

and some places, we’ve never been at all.

Ch4Btc_XAAAFqJv

No, we won’t be gone long

just long enough to change the channel in our minds

we don’t really plan, we determine a direction

and a few of the stops we’d like to make

along the way

if it should work out that we

find such a place along the way

motor bike

not just on the 17 of May

but really, any day, should be one of exploration

or discoveries

for honestly, we really do get to explore our boundaries

each and every day

if you always go right

perhaps see what happens when you turn left

it could be as simple as crossing a street

Till soon then,

we will be back by end of day

I’m off to play

Have a great and happy day!

Charm of days gone by

charm and character of Sharon springs

This was taken in New York State, a few summers ago.  It was a sunny day, and I was out exploring,  in fact, this was my first time to this part of the State, I had read an article on an abandoned health resort, it was so intriguing I wanted to see it for myself.  I blogged about that trip the year I went.  This is one of the pictures that in that file.

Timing in life, is so important,  PL Precept #19  Begin Once you perceive and   PL Precept # 17   Grasp What is Most Essential

Had I not been in the States on that day, enjoying the sights, and wandering down a side street I would never have been able to capture that picture.  The home was bathed in sunlight and shade, the breeze was just right, lifting the flag for almost picture perfect memory.  Whenever I see this picture I’m reminded of that trip, and I want to explore  more of the small towns in  that area.

Rev. Eisuke and I were talking yesterday of how it is so easy to “perceive” something, yet not take action… for whatever reason, we don’t follow through, guess what “something” doesn’t get done.  Or we miss something that was essential in the grand scheme of things.  We didn’t look at or take into consideration the full picture.

In the teachings of PL, we try to encourage and show why following the Precepts as best we can, is so important to our own quality of life and the happiness of not only ourselves but those around us.

Make someone happy today,  SMILE  share the  LOVE  include it in your day, it will radiate in your smile.

drawn like a moth to a flame

your silence called out to me

I knew, I needed a closer look

unlike in the books

my heart didn’t race

in fact, of emotion there was little  trace

just the desire to get closer

my steps were sure as if

as if, somehow I knew

we had met before

the years had aged you

 your tenants not always kind

there was not a blind

to hide your scarred and broken

parts inside.

you did your best,

you really did

sometimes, it really doesn’t matter

for life moves on

and you are left

not bare, but silent

the memories of what was

still visible on your face

you’ve left the door open

for what will be, will be

you’ve come this far

at night under the stars

you’ll sleep the gentle sleep

is a living memory

love is never lost

PL Precept # 11   Always be with God

Tuesday,sunshine and glue

abandoned.. dolphinjazz.tumblr.com Netherlands

Guess who went to bed and didn’t plug her cell phone in to recharge, first two guesses don’t count.  Usually no big deal, however, in an efficient mode these past months, I’ve been doing a tidy up.  You know how we can get when the season is changing, especially from winter to spring. “We never use our land line” said I. let’s get rid of it, we both have a cell phone, that will work out just fine.

f57b7a4c1ead74c51b8b54f93b4eb655

Good idea, right.. the hands free phones stationed all over the house for ease of access, went bye-bye. I admit there was a feeling of relief as one more item on my want to do list, got a tick mark beside it.  For every action there is a reaction. I had my cell phone number changed to the main home phone number,  so that worked out fine, more or less.  Calls I got for “the husband” simply were rerouted to his number.  BUT what happens then when our phones are not nearby, and we don’t hear them ring (ah HA! I got a blue tooth thingie, and I can answer mine from most parts of the house as long as the phone is within “striking” distance ,1,2,ever 3 rooms away ..  NOT if you are not wearing the bluetooth

a0ea4067ad0a2c683c7832938c75c86c

Or if you are busy working on some project, like making greeting cards for the Church sale coming up in June (18th) and you are working with a sticky glue, that sticks to you, but not the card stock!!! The handy hands free that used to be by the desk is gone, your phone is in need of a change, and your blue tooth  gadget is ??? somewhere on your other desk in the clutter there.

That golden moment when you remember, your new set up, the cell phone has call answer and voice mail, YAY, so what your fingers and hands are full of sticky glue, you phone will take a message.  All I need do, is find Hubby to get the SSS (Skin so Soft- Avon)  great for taking away sticky stuff .. I’m sure somewhere there will be a website that will tell you of all it is claimed to be good for.  For us, it’s getting the glue/sticky off.

The start of a brand new day

open the window wide

take in all that comes your way

for only today

will you live the golden moments

for tomorrow, they will

have flown away.

PL lesson 5- Widsom Comes Naturally when you are humble

wisdom

“You will stop growing if you have a conceited or boastful mind.  Always remember to be humble.”

This is when practicing the art of listening is so important.  If we think we know it all, or already know what someone is going to say or do, we deprive ourselves of learning.  It could be a new way of doing something, or a different viewpoint on a subject we think we have down pat.

PL lesson 5

Chinese New Year (year of Monkey) has already started in parts of the world.   A time to celebrate with family and friends. In China, people travel for days to get home, this is a big holiday.

sunshine and flowers

Where ever you are, however you are celebrating, may inner joy, satisfying rewards, and good health be the core essence of the new year.

English proverb

I have the huge honor of sometimes getting to read a Sr. Minster’s words, I’m always left with a new way or a different perception of one of the Perfect Liberty Percepts.  This minister lives in another country, so it’s not like I can just pick up and attend one of his services. When I have heard him, his messages have been insightful.

That is one of the ways we learn in life, by listening.  Not only to being aware of our own adventures, and understanding the values we learn and the blessings we receive.  We learn by “listening” paying attention, to verbal and non verbal communications that come our way.

Part of the PL culture is sharing our blessings and challenges.  We call them testimonies.  It hasn’t really caught on here in Canada, but in South America, and Asian countries, ie. in particular Japan, where PL was born, standing up and sharing what your faced during your week, or that day, and what you learned, not only acts like a cleansing in a way, but it gives others an insight on something in their own lives, that they relate to or with.

One of the Precepts that I have worked on and I imagine I will continue to work on, is PL Precept #4   Being Annoyed limites your expressions.

Or if you wish.. PL Precept #5, One’s Self is lost by being emotional.

The Sr. Minister, tells of how when he and his wife were travelling to a special event, they had a long way to travel, and he was driving fast.  He was doing 74 mph on a hwy that was usually 65 mph.  However he missed when it changed to 55 mph, and guess what.. he got a speeding ticket.  AND when he was stopped, the police officer gave him a notice .. the ticket and fine etc would follow.  We had a very unhappy Sensei.

In PL we reflect on what happened, and why……….what Precept we were not following.

In this case, he and his wife during the trip, had one of those marital moments we all know if we have ever coupled, where a quarrel happens and the response to that is silent stewing. He was not paying 100% on what he was doing,   Refer back to PL#4 and PL# 5.

19 miles over the limit, the disharmony cost him $211.

In telling of this expensive lesson, a church member said,  “you are lucky, 19 miles over the limit means you lost 4 points. Had you been going 1 mile more over the limit 20, you license would have been suspended.    Your insurance premiums will likely be affected in the next 3 years!… but here is a good thing to know, If you take a course at the traffic school, 4 points will be reduced, this would reset your points.”  Sensei was very happy to learn this,  the member was very kind to have explained this to him.

In this experience, Sensi learned a lesson, in sharing it, he was blessed with information he had not had before.  “Life depends on how we accept things”   PL Precept # 16  All things progress and develop.

garlic

Garlic, what is it about garlic that can make it such a special plant, not everyone likes it, but many do, and those of us who appreciategarlic its flavour, love to put it in almost everything we make for consumption.  I myself like garlic, in Chinese cooking, it is almost a staple.  When I keyed in garlic what I got was recipes of all kinds that use garlic.  Garlic cheese bombs,  rustic chicken with garlic gravy, roasted garlic, garlic rubbed roasted cabbage steaks, very impressive.

They all sound so tempting and so yummy, and I likely to try them, probably not.  Over the years I have I freely admit, set in my ways, and although I enjoy what I cook and eat, food is not something I have a passion for, it is necessary in life, and therefore, I eat.

Many of my friends are “foodies”  they love experimenting and trying something new, they chase the food trucks, all the rage now.. each truck a delight to the palate and the sensory senses.

garlic how to

Just the smell of fresh garlic is a savory moment.

If you are old school, and you crush your garlic on a wooden cutting board, (I use the Chinese traditional cleaver) when that aroma burst into the air, Wow!

Now to my husband who didn’t grow up with the smell of garlic or other seasonings and ingredients of Chinese cuisine, caught of guard, he can find it almost repulsive.

We are all different and unique, it comes up in our daily lives all the time.

Why do we have such issues with it, when it is on a grander scale.

Did you know that garlic is a good remedy to stop a persistent cough..

I admit when told of this, I was not really a believer.

I had a cough that wouldn’t go away.  A friend said, “hey you gotta try garlic!” He told me to make a piece of dry toast, and put a fresh piece of garlic on it and eat it.  Nothing else, only the crushed garlic and the dry toast.  Unable to sleep because of the cough, I got up and out of sheer frustration with my situation, I made a piece of toast, minced the garlic with one wop of my  palm on the cleaver… and … put it on the dry toast….. bit into the garlic and toast.

I had never eaten (to my knowledge) raw garlic (except the stems in a salad) talk about instant reaction in my mouth.  It is strong, potent, and for good measure I’ll say again, strong.  I persisted and ate it all…………. the cough went away.  I think my beloved husband was ready to go too, the dogs didn’t mind, but even I held my breath…   the moment passed, and so did the coughing.

You just never know until you try something.

looking up

snow magic

when walking through my dream

it seems, that all I did was walk

I searched, had no idea  what I was searching for

but on, and on I went

down corridors, and carpeted halls

even ran up broad marbled stairs

this is not my first time in the maze

sometimes it feels like I’m lost for days

it’s the past, it’s the present

yes I talk to people

I ask for directions,

I’m realizing now as I recount

this tale, no one ever says good day

not me, or anyone else I meet

snow magic 1

we are all so busy, busy, busy

how can I be lost

I’m surrounded by people

yet I  am on this endless search

I can’t find my “room” my private space

everything looks the same, each corridor

I find, has numbered doors,

1st, 2nd, 21st. floor it doesn’t matter

no door is mine, besides, I seem to have lost the key

snow magic 2

what web have I created with my nattering mind

and multi tasked habits

oh please, why do I insist on constantly searching

when if only I would stop, just stop

and look up instead of rushing

from one place to another

looking up

snow magic 3

I will see the sky, the Universe

and in the vastness of the Universe

my spirit will find peace

from the chattering of my mind

of daily matters that blind me

to the inner voice with me

that tells me, I need not search

I need not worry that I can’t get home

I am always home

God/Tao/Universe is always with me

 I am never alone

I need only stop

and look up.

excessive concern

There is a saying or teaching in Pl that encourages us to let go of excessive attachment or concern about someone or something. “EN wo Tsukeru”
Chinese art

In one of our books “Live with Passion”  by Rev. Yumiko Tsuyama she gives an example of a your couple whose child was seriously ill with pneumonia.  They were constantly at the hospital, fussing, fretting and agonizing over the state the child was in.. The fever was not going down.

They went to church and prayed with the minister. He asked them to put their faith and trust in God. After their prayers as they were leaving to go back to the hospital, Sensei surprised them by suggesting that they go to a movie.  It took everyone by surprise, but they did go see a movie.

Later the friend reported to the minister, “I was so worried and couldn’t stop thinking about my baby, but gradually, as I watched the movie, I became interested and laughed and laughed.  I forgot everything else. After the movie, my wife and I returned to the hospital.  It was a miracle.  Our baby’s fever was gone”

The worry and “negative” stress of the parents, (EN) unknown to them could be felt by the baby, it unsettled the baby’s own “energy” and impeded the work of the “Universe”  True faith is not easy.  It is a life long practice.

PL (Perfect Liberty)  Principle #15 – I will no do anything overly

Each and every one of us, has concerns that cannot be resolved easily.Problems that could seem trivia to others may be serious problems for you, because you have to deal with them everyday.  How you proceed, how you live with your “challenges” in life, makes a big difference.  A positive state of mind is something that we cultivate and encourage in others and ourselves.
