Yesterday I found myself in a state of “what is going on”… everything I started doing, seemed to be “”oh no!” the festival I wanted to attend didn’t happen… I tried to find my own way there, but the directions I got were not accurate, .. the directions came from an American source, and the highway number I was given was incorrect.. I knew I should be merging to the left, but the hwy number they were giving me was wrong, that highway was to the right.. at that exact moment of trying to merge in five lanes of traffic three going in one direction and two in another, my phone began ringing with a LD call.

Needless to say.. I ended up.. getting off the highway so that I could safely determine which way was which. By the time I found a safe place to pull over… I had decided.. enough .. was enough..

I have wanted to go to this festival for several years now.. it is big, huge event (a yarn, roving, wool, etc. outdoor event that is one of the best ever!!!) I had waited for my friend to give me the co-ordinates, I guessed finally after waiting for days for the info. that it wasn’t going to arrive.. that is why I turned to google maps. SIGH….

The disappointment will pass. Even the cat felt the moment with me.

Today

Today and everyday – Believe in yourSelf.

When you look in a mirror.. take a good look at the “person” looking back at you. A few times now I’ve not really recognized the woman who gives me a startled look, when I glance her in passing by the bathroom mirror that I can’t ignore.

From a closet size bathroom (in my previous home) to the ballroom size one I have now… it has been an adjustment. I think that in the past, I seldom if ever really looked at or in a mirror unless I wanted to check something…ie. my hair before leaving the house…. even then, it has not been a priority.

My sister and I have had belly laugh chuckles.. because we’ve ( I won’t say which of us) has arrived at a choir practice to have a choir mate quietly give us a whisper… )

Yesterday I woke to a sound of continuous knocking on my door, I was horrified to find out that it was after nine, I am usually up and out of the door by 7:00-7:30 ………. do you know what I did? Something I’ve never done ..ever. I answered the door and promptly went back to bed. AND … I gave myself permission to stay in and not go out at all .. all day!!!! in fact, except to get up to eat and check my messages.. I spent most of the day.. “in bed”. Dearest friends .. that was a first…. not because I didn’t feel well, or ached anywhere, no.. I simply wanted to sleep.. so I did. Wow.. is this a sign of “maturity”…

Can it be true.. I actually had a day of doing “nothing” except what I felt like doing…….Wow.. double wowzoooooh earth shattering isn’t it.

No matter the venue, the music will still wrap itself around you and whisk you away on a musical odyssey. Seasons come and go… life keeps happening… so why not enjoy it.

There was a time when we could enjoy quiet moments of reflection, when there wasn’t an electronic device in every room. We basked in the quiet of the day, we sat outside on the porch or front stoop and enjoyed the day/night. Neighbours going for a walk, or coming home from work, going out for the evening, walking to the bus stop, the pace was slow and leisurely. And…. and…. people waved and stopped to say hi.. good evening/day….

All that has gone away. I’m told that people don’t even have time to play, they are always rushing to get something done/finished/started. Hobby, what’s that?

I have been in my new home now for just a little over a year, it has been a transition, from a house to an apartment . I am still only now realizing that I’m still “adjusting”

Its too early to really talk about it.. but I at least have now accepted that the change.. long overdo… was inevitable.
