Heavy snow made it hard to see much, I basically decided it would be best to not attempt too much driving. When I left snow was falling lightly, but by the time I was back where the crows were, it was falling heavily.. temperatures were such that ice formed on the windshield blades.. and crusted on the windows making it hard to see.. the wipers left big crushed ice arcs just where I needed to see the road ahead. I had my Nikon today, didn’t do me much good tho’ you can see the snow was falling so heavily it was like trying to get their picture through a shower curtain of wet sticky snow.
The crows on my second visit waiting patiently for me to get out of their way.. they saw where the food landed, circled the area, but waited.
I did get pictures of the grosbeaks but… they were too blurred or distorted… I erased them. There was a whole host of the smaller birds (finch) that look like smaller evening grosbeaks today, they were all over the area grabbing up what they could. In fact, at both P23 and P22 it was the smaller birds that took over the diners.. they simply dived down and began to clean up. The doves and the squirrels stayed out of their way. It was interesting. The pesky little squirrels stayed clear of where the ground feeders were.
A couple of the little red squirrels are no longer really afraid of me, in fact, they like to tease me… waiting till I’m almost at them.. then lifting their little chins and giving me a little chirp before moving away only to wait for me to move on.. their little eyes watching me.. I swear sometimes I think they giggle.
The roads are messy, if you are tempted to go out… be careful.

There is something so magical about watching the sun make its appearance . A brand new day. New beginning, a fresh perspective, how wonderful the moment is when you see it between the trees teasing and tempting. There is no way I can ignore the majesty of it all.
There isn’t another car in sight, I slow down, looking for that perfect moment to stop the car… of course when I get out of the car, my view is different, and I have to walk around the car and walk up or back down the road to see if I can catch the glowing ball of fire before it drifts out of my sight.
The birds are quiet today, ok, well not all of them, the nuthatch are not carrying on, but the Jays are being absolutely silly. I’ve spoiled them, usually as soon as I get out of the car, I throw out handfuls of peanuts in a shell. LOL … now they expect it.. The evening grosbeaks are being patient, I can hear one or two of them begin their song. But… I’m still focused on getting a picture… which I did.. and only then did I dutifully go tend my charges.
Get things started with Grit. If you work on things in daily life with the attitude of “let’s do it!” you will feel a power to accomplish things. People around you will rely on you.

I have been tired a lot of late. So much so, it has been a bit of a worry. YET the Vitamines D and B the magnesium and and and.. that were recommended sit on my counter. Not being opened or used. What is it with me (part of me) anyway! What I have been doing, is still cleaning up (per Chinese New Year tradition) and yesterday…. finally…. I took out the “brasso” (cleaner) and cleaned my prayer bowls.

Good Thursday morning – People are perhaps starting to do their spring clean out, yesterday in my travels I found another poster, this time it was an old poster of Irish Doors, someone had mounted it – I wish I had the space… I simply don’t.. the other goodie I found was the small wooden door .. not sure what it would have been used for or if it was part of a house, you can’t tell in the photo, but it was all of maybe 6 inches.
The bottom two photos, Brent Micahel (Alabama, USA) had taken the picture you see on the left, then researched what the place had looked like before it was totally abandoned. My understanding is the owners of the old service station, shared the photo on the right with him.
I would also share a picture with you of a Raven, you all know my affection and affinity to the crows/ravens. These pictures were taken by a long time blogger friend from the UK Derrick J Knight.

I was asked the other day, why Portuguese… I smiled .. in all the time I’ve been posting over 8 years now, no one had asked me why I use Portuguese calendar pages and sometimes Japanese, the reason dear friends, is that the Church of Perfect Liberty is headquartered in Japan .. yes, there is a very strong presence in Japan, the Holy Land ( as it is called) is headquartered some 30 minutes from Osaka. It is huge, PL has its own schools, the community also has its own hospital.
That said, it is also very well represented in Brazil, where there are a lot of churches, so much so .. there is a large teaching and Educational campus in Brazil. From there PL branches out throughout South American countries.. the calendars are also available in Spanish.
Again, PL altho’ called a church, PL is a philosophy and way of life.
OHHHH good show the plow has been by and one pass has been done in my laneway, I can get out. Yes we are having another snowstorm.
For those of you who do not live in areas that get a lot of snow. I am very proud of how we handle snow here. I personally use a service called JR Lawn and Snow.. this was their missive to clients first thing this morning…
Tractor Operator Update:
Our tractor operators were all dispatched as of 1:00 am this morning, are almost done with first passes, and are moving well through the area! Once the first passes are done, operators will take a short break before starting the second pass/following the city plows. Some will have a second pass before the city plows get to their street and some people’s second pass will happen as we remove the plow piles.
As always, with big storms like this, our main goal is to make your driveway useable. Moved cars and tidying driveways will happen tomorrow. **Note there was an earlier message as well.

The moon is known to have a calming and serene presence. As we enter the new year, it is good to keep in mind that today is just the beginning. We are blessed with the opportunity to visit with the moon every night – to let the soft glow of its light bathe and heal the constant chatter/activity of the day. On nights when the moon rays shine in through the open window, curtains are pulled back so that the shimmering light will give just enough light for your eyes to gently close… and your mind rest.
Always have presence of mind. If you overexert yourself, you will get easily swayed by emotion. Always put the best Makoto with presence of mind.

Use Dissatisfaction and complaints as a springboard to improvement.
Have you ever found yourself in conversation with a squirrel. How they will look right back at you in pure defiance. There are a couple of the little red ones that are just a little bigger than a minute.. they are loud, noisy, have a lot to say … and are determined that if you want them to go away, they are going to show you, they are going to stay. I recognize that behaviour…. Have been known to display “some” of that annoying stubbornness myself.
Compromise makes things more complicated. if you go against your intuition and compromise because circumstances or conditions, things tend to get more complicated than they need to be. Always focus on the priorities and act accordingly.

Not a soul did I meet on the trail. One young lad came along on a winter snow bike (wide tires made for biking snow trails) he disappeared within seconds, only to be seen in the distance later on when I was on the trail that loops back to the parking lot. It was overcast, skies were rather dull and the clouds were plentiful, never-the-less it was like a mini winter wonderland. The birds were quiet, it was a tranquil walk that led me past the familiar and loved winter white evergreen and trees, along the trail.

Yes, patience is a virtue. Birders at P23 yesterday found our little guy flying around enjoying himself yesterday. Be aware that the feeders have also been drawing a few sightings of not so welcome guests… but then… to meet the very diverse community, you’ll have to drop by won’t you. =^_^=

Good Sunday morning. This little quote hangs on the back door, I see it every time I use the back door. Let me rephrase … I pass by it everytime I use the back door. this morning when I let the dogs out, the Chinese New Year red celebration good luck symbol caught my attention, and I lifted it to straighten it and saw the words that I had hung there months ago. Why had I covered it up… I have been walking past it and not seeing it. What a good message to start my year with.

The most famous Rabbit in chinese culture is probably the “jade rabbit” who resides in t he Moon Palace. “Legend has it that three fairy sages transformed the selves into starving old beggars, they came across a fox, a monkey and a rabbit. The beggars asked for food, the Fox and Monkey both had food and shared it. The Rabbit had nothing to share with them… wanting them to be well and not to starve to death, he jumped into a fire determined to save them. The sages were so moved by the Rabbits sacrifice that with their powers they revived the rabbit and granted it eternal life. sending it to live in the Moon palace with Chang Er the Moon fairy.
Some say on a full moon if you look closely you will see the beautiful Chang Er fairy and the cheerful Jade Rabbit singing together in the Moon Palace. The Chinese it is said are fascinated by the moon and celebrate Moon Festival on the 15th day of the eight lunar month – families watch the full moon together. It is also the romantic festival for lovers. Looking at the moon links them together.

Came across this huge poster the other day.. I tried to get a good picture to share, that is why I have put two copies of it up in case you can see one better than the other. I first saw such a poster when I worked at CTV (Canadian television media) back in the early years when it was a budding new industry. The new Pr man had arrived and was setting up his office. He had come from Hamilton and there against his wall was such a poster with interesting doors of Hamilton (Ontario/Canada) Do these posters still exist? Does anyone have an actual collection of the posteres? We are an avid door chaser group, besides sharing the doors here on Thursdays… do we have our own collection of door posters? What do you do with all the doors you’ve collected over the years?

Snow, blowing snow, high winds, visibility is not good, roads are not all cleared, the cold temperatures means that under the fresh snow is the possibility of black ice, there are hidden dangers out there.
