the day before

The day was clear but not bright, still I saw the sculpture of a magnificent tree (the hook).. couldn’t stop, I was on the other side of the highway headed out of the city.

It isn’t all the artificial coloured lights and the tinsel that shouts to me. Joy to the World… its the views I get when I am driving in the outskirts, nature simply being itself, farm land, a farm house up on a hill, the small towns I go through, the decorated verandas and front lawns of the homes. Yes, a red barn against the horizon, even the big silos and the farm machinery sitting waiting to spring into action when they are needed.

Not only in December is it time to celebrate the glory and wonder of the Universe and the diverse and interesting world that has shaped around us, these blessings should be appreciated and shared every day.

People make this world happen. People. We are doubly blessed when we can turn to our fellow woman/man and truly say from the heart, Thank you for being YOU, and sharing this day with me. Makoto.

I did stop to take pictures on my return into the city, but the lighting by then had changed… still I knew where it was hiding… =^_^=

cards

xmas-9-27-e1538136509378.jpg

Bom Dia on this lovely crisp Fall day.  For the last couple of days I have pulled together Xmas holiday stash, and begun my card making for the November deadline, or maybe it is end of October.  Must check that.  I decided on a theme this year, since the cards are going to elderly persons that will stuck in home, hospitals and such over the holidays, I decided on a theme of “days gone by”  I asked myself if I was going to be a recipient what would I enjoy.

There are many talented card makers who have been doing this for year, so there will be wide variety for the organizers to pick from.  Have any of you given serious thought to what. you will be doing in December. I have not, thinking that far ahead was something I didn’t do.  It has always been a time of year that I have not felt in sync with.

Yes I enjoy the colour and the gaiety that seems to arrive with the holiday season in December…. but the spiritual side of it all, I have found lacking.  But that my dears is not something we will go into now. (huge sigh of relief heard throughout the land)

btw the cards are not finished yet, they are mid way.  I see I’m running late, I will wish you all the best  of what today will bring your way.  I am looking forward to reading more of the autumn months from you, and the wonderful scenes you will post.

A hugs hug  filled with warmth and blessings is being sent your way,

once upon  a time

sentiments were cute

even whimsical

once upon a time, we even took pride

in making our own cards

or personally making something

there was a time

when the anticipation of simply having time alone

with someone dear that we cared for

was enough to set our hearts to smiling

we whiled away the time thinking of

when we could sit side by side

and simply look into each other’s eyes.

hello today, this was yesterday

I wish it wasn’t that  way

we have let a lot of decay, work its way, into our  day-to-day

what was, simply is no more

many of us, want to work on our own,

somehow, people seem to have lost that connection

or part of community, that has us working as a group

a team, that works together for the common good

do any of you, know what the last picture is all about?

Playing outside was always fun

there was no need for  extra spending

people used what was on hand, and it worked just fine

OK yes, time moves on, this is a different time

but, people are people,

we still need to connect on a simpler plane

friendships, are formed when we get to know

our neighbours, and the people we meet along the way

not just to nod and say hello

but to say ..hey, how are you…. and genuinely care

about what they answer .

We need not wait till February to say, “you are very special”

Good Evening everyone!

What is it about the human race that we are always trying to be something other than what we are. When we are young we want to be older, when we are aging we look to doing things that will help regain youth and vitality.  We are either too thin, our thighs too heavy, or one I hear the most, “I need to lose weight”.

Winter is coming, already we are hearing the groaning and moaning, and it really hasn’t even started.  How many winters have you lived?  If you are in a part of the world where it will be summer, then you too will be entering a new season.  What are you plans for the coming season?  Same old habits, nesting? catching up on your reading?  The telly is already starting its many many adverts for the holidays, first the “what to buy”, then the where to eat, or what to eat. and then once the parties really begin, and the festive season is really on a roll, we will be bombarded with the programs, and adverts on weight control, proper eating, and the ever popular-digs at your ability to keep new year’s resolutions.

This is a picture of London, England during the month of December.  Just looking at the picture I can feel the bustling activity of shoppers and feel the holiday “mood” or ambiance the shop keepers and city planners  have injected into the atmosphere.  On the other hand when I look at the picture taken in Montana on a snowy day, of a group out for a sleigh ride, I relax and feel and deeper connection to the “spirit” of Xmas, rather than the “marketing buzz” that the industry of peddlers has tried to wrap us in.

Turn off or cut back on what makes this time of year an unhappy one.  Find a new way to reach middle ground.  We tend to think that we “have” to do the same things every year, “because”.  We don’t.  We have choices.  Yes, really…….. Put your full heart into making a change, you will be rewarded.

Merry Christmas?

Image

Everywhere we go there are decorations, and signs advertising events to celebrate the festive season. Merry Christmas was the standard greeting of the day back when I was a “youngster”.  Even though I myself didn’t celebrate “Christmas”  I knew what it was supposed to mean.  My Mother would take us to church where we would hear about the birth of Jesus and hear the Christmas songs that were being sung.  That was pretty much it, in the world away from the Sunday service, it was all about hanging out.music, dancing, & going out.  Then there was the formal or family dinner,  that no one was really interested in except the parents, I didn’t care for it then anymore than I care for it now.

What I do love and I mean truly have a deep affection for, is the spirit of what the season is supposed to be about.  It is my belief that this should be the spirit all year long, not just on a given day or month. Goodwill to all, and Peace on Earth.

Asked why I participate” in the  trappings of Xmas.  I do so because my family and  friends do, it is their tradition.  I may not study the bible, or follow the “teacher” they do,but I love them, and respect their way to God.  God is our connection, in God we are all ONE.  ” Everyone has a different point of view.  Let’s enjoy and appreciate the personalities and differences we all have.” (PL Teaching)

We all celebrate the JOY of GOD, we all pray for PEACE on EARTH, if some say it by wishing me a Merry Xmas, then   Merry Christmas it is.
