With the sun shining even brighter these past few days, I did get myself a camp chair, and I did sit in the sun today, basking in the warmth of the sunlight on my face. It was cozy, it was comfortable, I thought I might not enjoy it because the camp chair is one that folds like an umbrella, and isn’t high on my back. Never-the-less.. it was great. I truly enjoyed just sitting there, my coat open, the sun on me… no cares, no worries, just allowing the moment to happen. I parked at the end away from where people were parking to go walk/snowshoe, or X-country .. and away from the feeders. My car is compact, I could park and allow space behind the car for me to sit unnoticed.. facing the field of snow…. and just BE. AWESOME!
To say it was was a picture perfect day, would be an understatement. It was magical. The trees were bowed under with the snow .. I was glad I had made the effort to get to the feeders. It was rather fun to put my hood up and then reach up and shake snow off the heavily laden branches so that the tree could raise itself up again. I managed some of the branches, not all, a few were just too heavily burdened, and too high for me to get at where I could shake and be productive.
I did get to clear the feeders tho’ and replace seed in the ones that had been depleted … It was interesting that a few of the birds found I was being a tad too slow and almost shoved me along or landed on my arm and tried to reach down and take the seeds/nuts from my container. The area where I sit was in an area that was covered by heavily snow laden branches.. I cleared the space and sat anyway, I simply put up my hood so that the wet snow wouldn’t cause a chill on my head. I’m surprising even myself at how I am adapting to being otudoors. I told one reader, I am thinking I’d like to have a folding lawn chair in the car, so I can just sit and bask in the warmth of the sun… away from the feeders.. but where I can still hear them chatting away, squabbling or just being cheerful. Why not. Will have to hunt one up.

In an old established part of the city I was surprised to find these newer homes.. What I call infill, older homes are sold, and new homes go in that are totally out of step with the other homes in the area. Such is progress. They are nice, just totally of a different character ..
This is where I sat for my morning meditation in the woods, there is a feeder right in front of me. A little chickadee came to sit with me, unfortunately she was so close, she is a little blurred.. but.. I’ll show you anyway, she was inches from me.
I cleared snow from the fallen tree just where this grouping is… I must have sat for 15,20 minutes… just taking in the fresh air, sunshine and bird activities. They were few today, even the squirrels seemed to be away on other business.
These days with everyone having to live often in isolation, or in a restricted “bubble”, we often sit behind closed doors. Today China gave us a view of the many moods that play through out the day as she whiles the hours away. She lives in a house of many doors Many days, she sits in her office with the door open, listening for the sounds of the crows, and other birds that fill the daytime skies…. at night she can watch the fireflies and listen for the crickets. We may feel alone at times, but we are NEVER alone. PL Precept # 11 Always be with God.
With one thought, “the World” will change.

The day was full of surprises, it had been a super long day, I was exhausted and ready to turn in.. Before shutting down I decided to take one last look at my mail. Free yourself from being overly attached. Overthinking hinders ideas and actions.
“Stop the car I would holler”.. however now, I am driving alone, so there was no one to alert. I checked my rear view mirror, pulled over, put my hazard lights on, and got out to capture this moment. Gosh snow can be so beautiful, alluring, and captivating. Never mind that just minutes prior to this scene, I had passed a car that had driven off the road into a scene similar to this one, how the driver had managed that I don’t know.. the side road had been plowed. The car had taken a nose dive into the ditch on the opposite side of the road that it had been headed in.
It was a beautiful day, you can see the sky is a lovely shade of blue. Earlier on my way out to the woodlands, I had passed a long stretch of road where all the vegetation was covered in snow and ice. The lighting was such that it looked like silver and gold encrusted on all the shrubs .. but I couldn’t stop, so I told myself I would get it on my way back. We all know that was not going to happen, the hour or so that had elapsed, meant the lighting would be all different, and I would be on the other side of the road. However…. I did get the above capture, and that pleased me.
My crows were not around today, well not all of them, usually they are in the multiple dozens, today there were only about a dozen, and they were quiet, there was none of the hooting and hollering that I am usually greeted with. It was a sunny day, and milder, they obviously had something else to do and were dining elsewhere. It was also quieter in the glen when I got there. There were just too many people, being such a beautiful day, and the lock down lifted, people were itching to be out on their X-country skies and snow shoes.
At Mer Bleue my second stop, it too was quiet, but it has been so, since I think Dewberry draws the enthusiasts that want to have longer trails. Here I got to stand and bask in the sunlight, while the Blue Jays, Evening Grose beaks, nuthatches, and little chickadees happily went about their business. I felt rooted to the spot where I was standing, a couple of times I was used as a spring board .. I didn’t mind.. in fact, secretly I love it. even the squirrel came over to run across my foot.. just because. =^_^=
