PL Precept # 6 Live as the Sun
Have you ever noticed how even on a gloomy day, if a ray of sunshine comes through the clouds, your mood changes, you look up with appreciation, and sometimes smile.
Life is full of an accumulation of small events/moments. If we go through life focused only on what we consider, big, important things that need our attention. We miss opportunities to notice other things. How often do we walk by a neighbour’s house, intent on getting to the bus stop, or to where we are headed. We don’t see the neighbour unless they speak to us, nor do we see their garden, the flowers… we are on “the go”. Busy, Busy, Busy.
Our lives are what we make of them, Our days, nights, how we live them.. we are creating our own unique work of art.
PL Precept # 1 Life is Art
Be like the sun, bring sun shine into the lives of others, it will radiate back into your own. Cultivate positive and strong relationships .. When we love with a true and trusting heart, the rewards multiply and happiness becomes the mainstay of every day life.

Years ago I had a thirst for knowledge on the mystery of the Rapa Nui civilization and the statues called moai.
Today, I still have to pause when I see pictures like this one. Theories have been bounced around for years. Locals say the statues walked.
Mystery of Easter Island, is a NOVA-National Geographic special – it was on PBS, the page I saw did not give me a year.

I have the huge honor of sometimes getting to read a Sr. Minster’s words, I’m always left with a new way or a different perception of one of the Perfect Liberty Percepts. This minister lives in another country, so it’s not like I can just pick up and attend one of his services. When I have heard him, his messages have been insightful.
That is one of the ways we learn in life, by listening. Not only to being aware of our own adventures, and understanding the values we learn and the blessings we receive. We learn by “listening” paying attention, to verbal and non verbal communications that come our way.
Part of the PL culture is sharing our blessings and challenges. We call them testimonies. It hasn’t really caught on here in Canada, but in South America, and Asian countries, ie. in particular Japan, where PL was born, standing up and sharing what your faced during your week, or that day, and what you learned, not only acts like a cleansing in a way, but it gives others an insight on something in their own lives, that they relate to or with.
One of the Precepts that I have worked on and I imagine I will continue to work on, is PL Precept #4 Being Annoyed limites your expressions.
Or if you wish.. PL Precept #5, One’s Self is lost by being emotional.
The Sr. Minister, tells of how when he and his wife were travelling to a special event, they had a long way to travel, and he was driving fast. He was doing 74 mph on a hwy that was usually 65 mph. However he missed when it changed to 55 mph, and guess what.. he got a speeding ticket. AND when he was stopped, the police officer gave him a notice .. the ticket and fine etc would follow. We had a very unhappy Sensei.
In PL we reflect on what happened, and why……….what Precept we were not following.
In this case, he and his wife during the trip, had one of those marital moments we all know if we have ever coupled, where a quarrel happens and the response to that is silent stewing. He was not paying 100% on what he was doing, Refer back to PL#4 and PL# 5.
19 miles over the limit, the disharmony cost him $211.
In telling of this expensive lesson, a church member said, “you are lucky, 19 miles over the limit means you lost 4 points. Had you been going 1 mile more over the limit 20, you license would have been suspended. Your insurance premiums will likely be affected in the next 3 years!… but here is a good thing to know, If you take a course at the traffic school, 4 points will be reduced, this would reset your points.” Sensei was very happy to learn this, the member was very kind to have explained this to him.
In this experience, Sensi learned a lesson, in sharing it, he was blessed with information he had not had before. “Life depends on how we accept things” PL Precept # 16 All things progress and develop.

PL Precept 17 Grasp what is most essential
PL Precept #19 Begin once you Perceive
PL Principle # 6 I will not be stubborn, beng captured by my own thoughts
author’s note… it is my stubborn nature, that pushed and pushed, till my body said… no more.. so want to or not.. now I am listening, that light bulb moment… when OK OK…I let go, stopped doing, ,doing doing
PL Principle # 2 I will not have complaints about others, matters, nor the weather. Rather I will always be creative and will look for shortcomings in my OWN thinking and actions.
December arrives, and the excitement starts to build
The airwaves are full of happy songs anticipating the festive holidays
As children it didn’t matter what or where the holiday originated
not really, it was that everyone seemed so happy, and time was made
for decorating, planning and having friends and family over.
It centered around an evergreen tree, if you were lucky enough to have
one fresh from the farm or farmer’s market, the smell of the freshly cut
tree would permeate the house.
In school, we were told about what Christmas meant to our classmates
and how, the spirit of goodwill to all, was the lesson we should be learning
Mostly we were from different backgrounds, and the teacher would do
his/her best to show us how in respecting each other’s differences
we could all enjoy this wonderful holiday together. Learn from each other
and share in the giving of “loving one another” and working towards
“peace on earth”
We were encouraged to make something special for those we cared about
it was a time where we made time to find something to give our
closest friends and parents something from the “heart”
It wasn’t about the cost, but about showing how that person brought
happiness into our lives by sharing their lives with ours.
Xmas cards were so much fun to make or pick out, each with a message
that was specific to that friend or parent.
There was an innocence, a joy, it felt good to say Merry Christmas.. to one and all
Not for religious reasons, but because it was being respectful, and caring.
Like saying, “have a great day and life” Almost always it brought a smile for a response.
Yes, the world is changing, and Yes there are now many more cultures that have come together
under one umbrella. The month of December is the one time that should be Universal in maintaining
the spirit of Christmas.. (Xmas)….. we are all ONE… we all love, hurt, endure, and live one day at a time.
We want health, happiness and longevity for ourselves and our loved ones. no matter who we are….
let us celebrate this holiday, with the mantra of “goodwill to all”
allow the cheerfulness of the season, to bring glad tidings to all…..
Love makes all things possible
God is love

PL Precept 11 Always be with God
PL Precept # 3 God appears through one’s self.
PL Precept 15 All is a mirror.
I landed on a page that was full of colours. Lots of colours … my thoughts were arrested, what, where, when .. why was I so fascinated by the colours. As I looked I found myself drawn in, captured in the moment. The moment held….. it lasted….
yes, of course, the fusion of colour, the energy of the abstract, nothing conformed to what we see in reality, this was an outer body visual high. could it be…………?? ———————- a natural high
ah HA!… I caught you smiling……… do you remember too…………… have you found your ‘Zen” ….. the light is dazzling, it IS hard to look away… come on now.. have you been caught up in the spell… are you remembering another time… admit it…. you are smiling….. bright colours make us cheerful… happy….
We tend to live in darks, grays and monotone, there was a time when we saw colour, lots of colour, the mood was light and full of love.
my choice…. is to love ……… love in all its splendour ………………yes there can be cloudy days, where the colour takes on a pastel hue ……………… but a good true love……. is colourful rainbow is here to stay ……………….. It is me and you! …. so let us all share a smile today…………………. pass the love around.
Love is a powerful antidote to any challenges that come our way. When our hearts are filled with love, there is nothing we can’t do. Really ………. truly ………………. pure love ……………………. transcends all.

Hello everyone.. How are you today… Bom dia
We’ve just had a few days where in North American, many celebrated Thanksgiving, especially in the States, With people being as connected as we are with social media, Canadians, got to enjoy another taste of Thanksgiving with American friends, Thanksgiving, also heralds the beginning in earnest of the holiday season. Yes, stores have been playing Christmas songs, but the big event in both Canada and the USA has been Black Friday. commercials, marketing, merchandising, sell, sell, sell.
I heard not a peep about how and why Thanksgiving came about. Or the teachings of being grateful for what we have, instead it was all about, how much more can I get for my dollar. The news carried stories of where to go to get the best deals. One slick commercial after another.
As we enter into December, we will get more and more reruns of the Xmas past, and the films that come out each year about Santa Clause and the North Pole
In PL (Perfect Liberty) we believe that “Life is Art” Precept #1
PL Precept # 11 is always be with God
and PL Precept 3, is God appears through One’s Self.
It is very difficult to feel a quiet and a peaceful state of mind. Every moment that happens between the movie, film, program whatever we are watching, is all about spending, seeing how much money you can spend, how to acquire another material object. Not to mention, killings, stabbings, violence, and of course, humanitarian projects for people thousands of miles away, while we ignore the hunger, homeless and discriminations/ persecutions right here in our own backyard.
That said, I know that we all hunger for that silent time, the moment that is ours, that is not being bombarded with senseless chatter or music that rather than soothe is jarring .
Perhaps it is because it is late, (early morning) but the Psalm came .. it drifted into my thoughts.. Psalm 62:8.. is about putting your trust in God.
It is a reminder to let go of agitations, to surrender the nattering mind to a “divine” state.
To let healing loving thoughts take control of your tongue, to think before speaking, to support and cheer others on.
PL is non denominational, we appreciate the language of Love/ God however it is spoken and lived. We are all unique, and need to express and walk with God in our own way.
I never walk alone
you are always with me
with love in my heart
I am in step with you
you are my life,
invade it
fill it, transform it
With God/Love, nothing is impossible

Garlic, what is it about garlic that can make it such a special plant, not everyone likes it, but many do, and those of us who appreciate
its flavour, love to put it in almost everything we make for consumption. I myself like garlic, in Chinese cooking, it is almost a staple. When I keyed in garlic what I got was recipes of all kinds that use garlic. Garlic cheese bombs, rustic chicken with garlic gravy, roasted garlic, garlic rubbed roasted cabbage steaks, very impressive.
They all sound so tempting and so yummy, and I likely to try them, probably not. Over the years I have I freely admit, set in my ways, and although I enjoy what I cook and eat, food is not something I have a passion for, it is necessary in life, and therefore, I eat.
Many of my friends are “foodies” they love experimenting and trying something new, they chase the food trucks, all the rage now.. each truck a delight to the palate and the sensory senses.
Just the smell of fresh garlic is a savory moment.
If you are old school, and you crush your garlic on a wooden cutting board, (I use the Chinese traditional cleaver) when that aroma burst into the air, Wow!
Now to my husband who didn’t grow up with the smell of garlic or other seasonings and ingredients of Chinese cuisine, caught of guard, he can find it almost repulsive.
We are all different and unique, it comes up in our daily lives all the time.
Why do we have such issues with it, when it is on a grander scale.
Did you know that garlic is a good remedy to stop a persistent cough..
I admit when told of this, I was not really a believer.
I had a cough that wouldn’t go away. A friend said, “hey you gotta try garlic!” He told me to make a piece of dry toast, and put a fresh piece of garlic on it and eat it. Nothing else, only the crushed garlic and the dry toast. Unable to sleep because of the cough, I got up and out of sheer frustration with my situation, I made a piece of toast, minced the garlic with one wop of my palm on the cleaver… and … put it on the dry toast….. bit into the garlic and toast.
I had never eaten (to my knowledge) raw garlic (except the stems in a salad) talk about instant reaction in my mouth. It is strong, potent, and for good measure I’ll say again, strong. I persisted and ate it all…………. the cough went away. I think my beloved husband was ready to go too, the dogs didn’t mind, but even I held my breath… the moment passed, and so did the coughing.
You just never know until you try something.
