A valentine

Valentine 1

I passed a display of valentine cards today

“you make my heart sing and dance”

said a happy dog with a big smile on his face

“a valentine hug just for you”

a pretty blue bird chirped as it sang from a tree

Valentine 2

The sentiments I saw today, were not like the ones of yesterday

when we wrote out a poem,

or picked carefully so that the card spoke what we couldn’t say

and of course, always we hoped there would be mail when we got home

Valentine 3

Some for sure, were really corny

and some were just so darn mushy

Valentine 4

but  honey, you and I know,

that even though you said you didn’t care

if a valentine came your way or not

it meant a lot, when someone said they cared.

Valentine 5

So guys and gals, you have plenty of time

to find a special card

that says, be my Valentine

Find one that is ” Eggzactly” right for that special friend or friends

and share a smile that will run for miles

saying simply, a heart/hug from me to you….

Valentine 6

Love you, each and every one of you.

my dream of peace

winter scene -dreamy

On the first of every month

the church has a ceremony for peace

yet my heart yearns for peace

with each beat of my heart

Like the mist on a cold winter day

I whisper softly the sentiment I feel, into the  words I pray

and hope that some day

every day, will be a day of peace.

winter mist

out of the winter mist

the light of love will glow

   and as it draws nearer

we will all be bathed in a wordless understanding

that will deliver us from the fears

and insecurities that bind us to a world

that is man made, and not

Nature’s WAY

winter swan

Peace lives in my heart

Peace is God’s gift to all of us

Peace is love without borders, boundaries or definition

Love is how we bring peace into our lives

Unconditional love

make it part of each and every moment of our lives

Let us pray together

and nurture this wish for

Universal Oneness

Good morning everyone…

For those of us waking to a world of white snow and high winds, thought we would take to the streets in another climate. The day seems bright enough, but I could see the wind blowing the wind flag and it wasn’t messing around. Although only 14 degrees Fahrenheit, with the wind chill factor it has to be cutting cold out there.  Dress warmly if you are going out, wear a warm scarf, makes all the difference =^_^=.  (-15 Celsius?)

I found this picture of a Japanese carving the other day.  At one time I was very interested in and had started a collection of “Netsuke”.  A Netuske is a small miniature carving, many of which date back to a different period in time. This Japanese monkey is from the Mejii Period (1868 – 1912), look at the detail, the monkey is looking through a magnifying glass, to view an insect on a persimmon.  The carving is 1.5 inches.

There had to be no compromise nor hesitation of the artists hands while he/she worked.  I can only imagine the concentration and focus that went into this wonderful work of art.  Our lives are works of art, how often are you called upon to compromise, or when dealing with another, you find yourself hesitating because you simply are not on the same page and paragraph of the person you are interacting with.

Japan, 2

When we find ourselves rethinking, or pausing in our actions, then it is time to take a break and think about what is meaningful to us.  What is important to us, if we compromise, or not speak up on what we really feel, matters will only become more complicated…………. Always be true to yourself!…………….

adventures in a corn field

corn field

Being a city girl, I would never have thought of playing in a corn field, yet I now know that many a youngster has spent many hours discovering a wonderful play haven in the tall passage ways found in the corn fields. When I saw this picture the writer in me wanted to weave a story of the little fairies and trolls who made  summer homes under the plants, enjoying the shade the leaves and husks provided.  That would have been fun, but a distraction from the task at hand.

We are told in PL that life will take on a greater dimension when we are able to perceive our surroundings with more ” sensitivity”.  So as I start my day with my visit with you, I ponder, on whether or not I meander down the road for a while, or focus on my “list” of “things I should do” today.

OH.. hello a new face, a new possibility, well what a nice surprise.  What can I learn from you, would you like to come closer, wow a face to face with a cow,  Now that brings a smile, a new experience I wasn’t expecting. what fun.

Look for new ways to learn and add knowledge/experiences…. the seasons come and go before we know it, another year has gone by. Make each day count.  Cultivate new possibilities with a positive outlook.

Canadien eh!

b595ff19c2b143e8d9d2cccd52e967c8

Good morning dear reader, when traveling we often hear about our money system here in Canada.  I found this picture that shows you are coinage, however please note, we no longer use the penny.  It was a real change for us when they said, no more printing of dollar bills, and we had to adapt to the loonie.  But, we did and the thought of having one more coin to drag down our wallets passed.  Then they (government) announced no more two dollar bills, we were going to be using another coin, which in Canada we have nicknamed the toonie.  Again the grumbling, what a pain, we’d need change purses the size of makeup bags!

time, telling of

Even telling the time, what seemed to be the way to tell time, when traveling I found out that not everyone knew what I was talking about, and yes we were in an English-speaking country.  In French, we also use the above when speaking of or indicating time. (Canada is bilingual, English/French)

saying, problem in Canada

True, we no longer can say, “A Penny for your thoughts?”  we could, but the younger generation, may not know what a penny is since it is no longer used.  At the moment there are still some in piggy banks I’m sure, but the day will come…… In my research this morning I found a whole page of  “canadian-problem”  #’d fun sayings.  If you are so inclined you can check them out. For my purposes, #318 will do

In PL, the PL Principle #2 is.. I will not have complaint about others, matters, nor the weather,  Rather I will always be creative and will look for shortcomings in my own thinking and actions.

Let me tell you, when the changes with the money came along, I did my share of grumbling.  Then during recent trips to the States, when I had to pay for things, I found myself longing for my loonies and toonies.  How much simpler it is using coins, and not having to deal with pennies.   I found myself appreciating the changes that were made, that I had wasted so much time being negative about them.. was a “light bulb” an “ah ha!” moment.

PL Precept #4 – Being annoyed limits your expression,   and  it does.  Sometimes there is distance between the lesson being offered, and our realization of same.

Examples used were Canadian “eh”…. but the lesson universal

penny 1 cent

no longer can I send a penny and say

a penny for your thoughts, remember I love you

somehow

a nickel for your thoughts just doesn’t have the same sentiment

it took 5 pennies to make 1 nickel

the one in the penny symbolized that  you and I are ONE

Sorry but a nickel

sounds fickle

but, all said and done

I do .. love you…

You are the only ONE…

discovering

art by Jeremiah Morelli, aka jerry8448

Finding our way in life is always an adventure.  Sometimes it is a mystery and we find ourselves asking the mirror “why? how? what happened?”  Some paths we traveled on have been smooth and well-worn, others if there ever was a road, it had long been reclaimed by nature, and you had to tread carefully and watch for openings in the growth around you to make your way through to find a clearing.  You needed to focus and be present.

art, conceptart and situations, by alexandre chaudret

Today with virtual worlds, gaming and concept art forms, we are taken into wonderful imaginary worlds without leaving the comfort of home.  Still, always, one should be present and aware of all that is happening around us.

If an explorer starts out with preconceived notions and ideas about what lies ahead  he/she will not be open to the wonders that are there to be discovered all along the way.  If you find yourself on a road you’ve not been on before, take it all in,  This is where you are, so enjoy it, discover what there is to learn from the moment and then move on. Every day is a blank canvas

Even when we do our best, some times we don’t feel that the outcome was what we wanted or expected. On reflection, when reviewed, often we are left wondering.. “what were we thinking” If you love to cook,  you know, if like me, you are someone who creates the meal from scratch and on the go that what seems great in thought, does not always translate well to the tongue and taste buds.

pickle art

Life situations are much the same, we think we want, or feel that something just “has” to happen, or we want to reach another level in our careers, we just “know” that the change will somehow make our everyday life sooooooooooo much better. We will be soooooooooooo much happier, etc.

oysters

Then we reach that plateau, or when we acquire what we thought would make life so much easier, the reality hits home. Life is.  The sun still shines, the rain pours, bills keep coming in, and friends come and go.  Nothing has changed except the players and the environment you are in.  In other words, everything has changed, but you still feel that discontent, that “je ne c’est pas quoi” When we live doing our best, then each moment of the day is a good one, we are happy about what we are doing and our choices.  If the outcome isn’t what we wanted, then revisit the “want”. It isn’t always the destination, more often than naught, it is the journey that counts.  Now is what matters. Happiness is … (we all have our own happy button, find yours)

Guess what food item will be on the grocery list today =^_^=

Time was

retro, breakfast maker

When kitchen gadgets were perhaps simpler.  Note that the idea for breakfast, was that cup of coffee, toast, eggs and I think those are sausages.

campe+ bike UK

When the romantic dream was to camp in a quiet serene lot somewhere, far from the busy cities and towns,  perhaps park the car and if transportation is required, there is the trusty bike to pedal to a country store.

Of course the realities of today when we look back on our dreams of a quiet get away, are not as romantic.  We have to make time to get a way, we need plan and organize, the darling camper, needs to be found and then it has to be reconstructed to meet one’s needs.  Do these small campers have bathrooms, showers, we have to look at logistics, etc. etc.

Important, is our lifestyle such that we can travel with the barest of essentials, or do we need/want more.  Will the car we presently have pull a trailer, do we want to stay in camp grounds that seem to be stuffed with other campers, trailers, and families tucked together between trees much like the some of the communities in the city.  The only difference being, there are more trees, and likely there is water near by for swimming.

And, let us not forget the pets.  We travel with two dogs.  where do we find open space and safety for them.  As the list of needs and wants mounts up, the reality of that romantic dream coming true fades into the distance.life is a journey

Life itself is  journey, how many times do we hear that said, or alluded to. There came a time in my maturing process where I began to realize that each day was my opportunity to explore a piece of my dream, make it a reality, instead of planing  and working at something that may or may not happen, I decided to focus on NOW.  I still dream of future projects, but my interest is in today, how I am feeling today, and what I am doing with my time today. Somehow, that works for me, being present in all I say and do means that I don’t regrets, and I work hard at not having expectations.  I’ve learned when we expect something, we are often disappointed.  The only person that I have control over, in all respects, is myself.  I own the actions and choices I make.  No more, no less.

bacon loaf

Totally irrelevant to anything previous,  this bread takes one hour to make. and I want to taste it. like NOW =^_^- It has 8 slices of bacon in it.   I’d want more.  1/4 cup of Jalapeno,  3 cups of flour, 1 tbsp baking powder,  2 tbsp  granulated sugar  1 tsp of salt,   1 tbsp  vegetable oil,  12 oz buttermilk, 2 cups cheddar cheese,  8 oz cream cheeze.

I’m a confessed bacon addict, if I squeeze a recipe in from time to time, I hope you enjoy!

How are you today?

PL Precept #21   Live maintaining equilibrium between mind and matter…

holland

This lovely picturesque grouping is of Giethoom in the Nederlands where there are no roads.  It is a beautiful and quiet village unique in that you will not find a single road in the entire town. Instead it is connected with paths, bike trails and a canal system. Visitors are welcome to explore by renting a noiseless, electric “whisper boat”.  I have been enchanted with the idea of visiting ever since I read about the place.

We all lead busy, at times hectic lives, and finding that quiet time we need so much often eludes us.  We grab moments here and there, but often they just are not enough. In PL we have a Precept, # 5 that says.. One’s self is lost by being emotional.

The 21 PL Principles help us to achieve the 21 PL Precepts that we live by.  Like everyone we struggle at the best of times to get then right, or to effortlessly follow them, but in following PL Principle #1 – I will live paying careful attention, putting Makoto into all I say and do (Makoto/sincerity)  as best we can, dedication towards that goal helps enormously.

Holland 1

To be easy going, and to live life constantly in a cheerful and calm state is something to strive for.  When I’m challenged, then I revisit the Holland of my dreams, and let my mind wander effortlessly through the gardens, and sail the waterways.  Care to join me today?   You are all so precious to me, I wish for you a glorious sun filled day , no matter where you are, no matter the weather, let the joy of life, bless you with a soothing balm of love.  Thank you for sharing this moment with me, I really truly appreciate the time you spend with me.  (I would burst out  into song, “love is in the air” but that dear reader would really send you into hiding )  liefde + kus  xxxoo

Good Morning everyone!

b69ac7a7fec98d5385afc9f4f438bca9

Amen

There are more quotes, sayings and motivational posters out there then one can count or keep track of.  The bottom line, and the simplicity of life is that we, and we alone, are the masters of our own destiny. Own your life, take responsibility for what you’re faced with, deal with it, no one else can do it for you.

Happiness is a state of “Being” and that is where I like to be.  When I find that for whatever reason, I’m drifting from that “state” I’ve learned that I am the only one who can reclaim my inner smile.

Happiness is a habit I’m not willing to give up!
