Happy Wednesday everyone

What is it that attracts me to old trucks, cars, motorcycles, and bikes?  I haven’t a clue.  In recent years I’ve noticed that more and more I am drawn to pictures where one or more are featured.  Driving along hwy 37 in NY State past farms with old barns, I found myself searching for sight of a rusted out car.  More in the States than along the highways here, I’m rewarded by vintage vehicles being driven or for sale.  Some are covered in rust and barely standing, yet they have an allure for me.

Be still my heart, how this rusted decaying, bucket of metal can stir my emotions, I’ll never know.  But how I love to look at it.. the vibrant colours that takes place as it goes through its changes.  the way nature welcomes it back into her embrace.  So far I’ve only been able to gaze in wonder at the wonderful pictures I’ve found posted on Pinterest or other social media sites.

These are the colours I want to wear this fall.  In redoing my fall/winter wardrobe, I am searching out these colours.  There is something rich and satisfying about this palette, in the States I have been able to acquire a pair of old faded and worn, army fatigue pants and the matching long sleeve lite. jacket/shirt.  Obviously I can’t wear then at the same time, I look ridiculous since, I’m obviously not of an age that I would be in service, but the blended colours are soothing to the eye, and calming when worn with colours that harmonize. (mixed casual attire)  So, I’m eccentric, I’m happy =^_^=.

I am not alone with this old truck/car passion, there is an abundant source of art pictures that capture the beauty of the aged vehicles. Enjoy whatever makes you happy today and everyday.  When we do something we enjoy with Makoto (sincerity) we reap the rewards 100 fold.  Have you thought about the colours you wear and why you wear them?

whining and complaining

photo 5 (5)

There are days when this could be me.  My busy mind chattering and chattering about dear knows what.  I don’t think I whine and complain, but that is because I don’t want to believe that I am just as guilty as the next person at having a negative day.  All my life I have known that no two people will see the mountain view the same way, even though they are looking from the same vantage point.

An exercise that we practice in PL (Perfect Liberty) is to work at accepting the differences in life and to respect the difference in others.

I fell short today, I disagreed with a sentiment sent to me by a caring sister.  I vented.  yet on reflection, she was only giving voice to her perspective and in doing so, used the language and comfort terms of her personal beliefs.  I want respect for my beliefs I in turn need to respect hers, and allow her, her form of expression. The bottom line is she cares.  That I appreciate.

PL Principle 21 – I will not have complaints about others, matters, nor the weather  Rather I will always be creative and will look for shortcomings in my own thinking and actions.

My thanks to Little Sister (Wei) who is traveling in Mexico right now, these are her pictures.

I will be visiting NY State tomorrow.  See you all on my return.  have a great start to the new week.

As I sit and look out at the view before me

I am in awe at the wonder of the world that surrounds me

I am so linear at times, how is it that I can be so completely free

Yet totally tied to the human bonds of need

I tell myself that I can walk on my own

That there is no reason for me to worry and moan

about something that really is out of my control

for I am but a human with a fragile and seeking soul

I lift my arms towards the sky

my eyes search the heavens  as I hear my silent cry

at first it is but a distant sound, but soon I feel the passion

my heart is full and I am giving full attention

to this burning yearning for your calming embrace

For only letting go of my fears and staying true to you

Will I really and truly find my place

With you in the forever after.

Nothing else matters.

Chop Suey

86f6f8f84fcb27dc544c39e02226972d

Today we celebrated Ancestor’s Day, we do this on the 11th of every month.  It is a time to pray and give thanks for the lessons and teachings that we learned  in life as we progressed along the journey through our days and nights.  It is not only our parents, it it is teachers, friends, other family members. neighbours, health care professionals , anyone we come in contact with  who  may have an affect of influence us, in some way shape form or other.

chop-suey-1929.jpg!BlogThe name of this piece where the two ladies are sitting at a table in a Chinese Restaurant is Chop Suey.  This is an oil painting done by Edward Hopper in 1929.  It is currently in a private collection, I found this copy on wikipaintings.org.  This picture brings back memories of the restaurants many decades ago.   As soon as we sat down, a waiter in a smart uniform of black pants and a white jacket would appear with a pot of hot tea and cups.  Rice was always free with your meal.  It seems that every town or city had a Chinese restaurant and each one had on the menu, a version of Chop Suey.

6271966897720888f4de44d4a3ca6779

Cooks back then were very adaptable to the region they were cooking in.  The ingredients used back in China were not readily available in the city never mind the smaller towns, so they grew bean sprouts and served a variety of meats with sprouts, celery, onion and a few slivers of peppers for colour.  If they used chicken it was chicken shop suey, if it was pork, pork choe suey etc., when crispy noodles were sprinkled on top the dish became a chow mein.  NO we didn’t eat chop suey at  home.

Today there are Asian grocery stores almost everywhere, even the big super markets have sections dedicated to the products and vegetables used in Asian cuisine.  The ingredients are there for the actual meal, but the ambiance and customer service of yesteryear.  Now you pay for the tea, and the rice, and yes you have a lot to pick from on the menu, it is no longer the simple menu of choosing from  column A, B or C.

We can’t go back, but when I think of the ancestors or people who influenced some of my behaviour, the cooks and waiters who came to Canada to start new lives, their beliefs that hard work and dedication to the task before them, come to mind.  They came to a country where they didn’t know the language to earn money so they could send or go back for their families,  They wanted a better quality of life for those they loved, so they applied Makoto (sincerity) to their lives and earnestly did what needed to be done.

I am humbled by such dedication & selfless giving for the next generation.  I give thanks for this memory, and I pray that I in turn will do something worthwhile that will help those around me and who will come after me.

dull,overcast & sunny

IMG_0765

Good Morning everyone.

It is a day of choices.  When a friend dropped over with wool for another friend, the leaves were bathed in sunshine, as I stood on the steps i was wrapped in a soft light of sunshine, with a warmth that was pleasing.  When I came in for my camera, I thought it would be delightful to share the various shades of crimson and bronze of the leaves.  However… when I opened the door not 5 minutes later, the sun had been replaced with cloud and a dismal sky of washed out grays.

Such is life. Thus the expression “seize the day/moment”  Yes the sun has come out again, but guess what, it is not longer shinning down in that area… it has moved on.  Life is good, it is full of wonder and adventure.

Now.. is always the start of something new!

O agora e sempre um ponto de partida

a  worn and weary boat sits by the dock

alone and forgotten

its old, it has seen many seasons come and go

the young ones that it once ferried

have long since moved on in life

the laughter and the fun

the echoes of children playing were on another clock

now as time ticks on

the boat knows it will soon be docked

it will be put away, left to weather

with only memories of yesterday

of young Russ and Margaret

John, Janet and Brian

“yes,” sighs the creaking old boat

Time for one era to end

so a new one can begin… again.

amen

I have a cold…

9d3b27c1d900671e31d13a41928c8512

Good day everyone….

I have a cold… blanket statement…  What does that mean exactly.  It is a response that I have used for a number of symptoms, and it usually satisfies the person to whom I am talking.  I realized the other day that my making that statement doesn’t always stem from my having the same symptoms, if I were to really examine and say out loud why I was making that statement, I think the listener would have lost interest and moved on.    Saying “I have a cold” is much like the other conversational throw away “how are you”  reply “fine”

They are openers that more often then naught are merely cordial greetings.  In conversation with Rev. Eugene the other day, when i verbalized that I had a cold/flu, his response was, “why”.  My internal response, “hello, why” of course that was an excellent PL reply.

Exactly … he brought the statement, the thought back to me for closer examination.  After all if I have a cold, or say I have a cold, what is it that brought this on, why do I feel like I do… No one can answer these questions but myself.

If my body is rebelling on me, giving me grief, I have to ask myself why. what am I doing, saying or thinking that is creating an imbalance in my thought pattern, or harmony in my body, mind and soul.  Speaking about me, I know that I have a tendency to get really busy, stay actively busy looking “out”… when I am not wanting to perhaps address something that is “stewing” “inside me.

Having a cold means that I can retreat with an excuse.  I can take to my bed and sleep the whole morning.totally oblivious to anything but the “mode of BEING” I’m in..  Since I can’t sleep all day.. guess what.. I will keep busy till I can hit my bed once more and sleep till next time I wake.  I have a cold.

Expressions

This is a vintage print that appeared in a mailing I received, I wish I could credit the artist, but I can’t.   Art is very subjective, what appeals to me, may not be your cup of tea.  For me the moment I saw this print, I was mesmerized.  The colours, the position of the model, the bird cage, the total image evoked a sense of longing in me. Certainly not in a negative way, just a feeling, a passion that set me to wanting to create prose, or write a poem.  I’m sure that at one time or another, such moments have happened to you.   What do we do with these inspirations, these “ah Ha” light bulb moments.. do we act on them, or does the moment pass and we move on.

PL Precept # 3 – God appears through one’s self……..

In PL (Perfect Liberty) we believe that the Universe is always guiding and directing us,  It is we who fail to listen or hear…when something happens out of the blue, or suddenly we find ourselves faced with a challenge we are not prepared for.  In Pl we see that as an act or happening created by the Universe to get our attention. We are taught to take stock, pay attention, open our minds to possibilities, to focus and seek resolution.

PL Precept # 7 – Everything exists in Relativity….

When I saw the above print, it started a thought process, that began with the emotions I felt when I saw the print, and then the various stages of evolution the initial thought produced in my mind’s data base.  More than 12 hours later I still wanted to share the print with you.  Perhaps it will inspire a thought process in you?

For me… it had me looking for a gaudy ring full of bling…….  go figure……..hey…………….. what is… is, I  share with you all of me, imperfections included.!

The PL 21 Precepts reveal the true path of life for all humankind.  Beginning with Precept #1, Life is Art…. as the foundation.  There are 20 more precepts that stem from it and are closely interrelated with one another.  Each Precept is written in simple and clear language, but the truth revealed in their words applies Universally to ALL….

Thank you to all of you who read and follow me on my journey.  You are my inspiration.

Tranquility

Sometimes we need to simply BE

To relax, listen, and drift

Our mind allowed to coast  along waves of music that take us to another realm..

Join me today in a silent meditation…

Let the ambient sounds clear and cleanse your tired and weary spirit…

Follow along, enjoy the peace and tranquility..

Now and always..

How beautiful heaven must be

oh to be set free

Night and day, we pray

Peace on earth will be here to stay

the joy of a happiness

lived in a total awareness

of unconditional love

trust, understanding, caring

peace in all our hearts

when love is not just a word

then and only then

will light and dark

be ONE
