Good morning everyone.. some of you may have already seen this cartoon. My sister sent it to me, it resonated with me in many ways. When I told a friend about it, she remarked she had seen it already on Facebook. Of course my sister sent it to me because she is the “happy” sister with a sense of humour, and I had been moaning to her about having to cope with ongoing symptoms of the fall I had,.. How it had me home more than I liked.. and taking more naps than I wanted to.. blah blah blah…

We all at times, reflect on, or focus on something … that really,,, if we step back, and look at the positives that the change(s) has/have made… we see the world in a totally different light. That picture not only made me smile (a good happy smile) the saying ” whomever you’re important to… will look for you.” clicked and stayed with me. I hear it now repeat itself often out of the blue… It is so simple and so true. Thanks Sis!

Enjoy what happens People who can enjoy anything happening to them receive wisdom for the next step. Try to work on things without being overly concerned.

This is how I feel right now. Old but still standing… debris all around and feeling a tad “useless’ have spent the last many hours trying to figure out how to use this new laptop, find where things are, the biggest headache was changing the keyboard to good old English. Something I took for granted with my other PCs, tablets etc. This brand new laptop comes with a bilingual keyboard, it just never occurred to me that it would want to type in French. Sigh. a learning curve it will be.

Don’t give up! Keep at it until you accomplish what you’ve started. The key to achieving something is to stick to it. If you are able to finish, you will be sure to accomplish it no matter how difficult the task is.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of a chance encounter with a local photographer (Jim Robertson) and his wife at the conservation area that I visit each day for my morning “meditations” . Last night I was surprised to see an e-mail from him… Please allow me to share with you the link to his webpage.

the mind

Getting a new computer set up, means you have to do a lot of rearranging, you are forced to look at all that “stuff” in your old hard drive. What is really essential, how much of the “clutter” do you really need, or will ever use ??????? If we could see inside our minds, we would find that the mind is just as cluttered with “things, information, memories” that are no longer relevant in our lives. Since my husbands passing some five years ago, it has been a steady emptying of the house of “objects” parafernalia no longer needed or wanted.

What is clear to me is that I no longer want to deal with all the mumble jumble that is required to get the new equipment up and running so that it is effective and I can be productive. It isn’t a simple task, of bring a new computer home and use it.. no …you need a lot of “stuff” from the equipment you are using. People working in the field, can so easily juggle all the various tasks, but to me it is mind boggling.

The computer is a wonderful invention, I love it, I love working with it, on it… but the mechanic of it.. that is another story. In nature, you can clearly see from the picture above, what is new , thriving and what has gone past its due date. I need to prune my mind .. simplify … … where is my to do list for the next many months !!!!

beauty is skin deep

I have always admired the beauty of this evergreen. It stood tall and proud in the Perfect Liberty church parking lot. during a recent storm (one of many we’ve had this summer) it was toppled. Rev. Eugene took the pictures and he graciously has allowed me to share them with you.. I was surprised at how shallow the roots were, given its size I would have thought that the roots would have travelled down further, and spread wider.

Reminds me of how often I have seen people being judged by appearance … and not by their personalities and inner beauty. Every where we look, there are commercials and ads that will help one look more beautiful and radiant if this product or item is bought and used. the endless commercials on fad diets and supplements that are a must if you want to look younger, stay fit, etc. Most of the ads are about maintaining a “look” or appearance, You can be vain, shallow, superficial, self centered etc. go into debt to try to achieve what someone else considers beautiful and essential…. then spend endless hours lonely, distressed over debts, and trying to cope with feelings of inadequacy.

Being home these past weeks dealing with “symptoms” from my fall, I have had time to think, reflect and cogitate on the world around me. How “busy” everyone always seems to be, AND notice things about my own “habits” and “lifestyle”. S C A R Y…. when commenting on others, one should always look hard at the imagine in the mirror.
