Good Morning everyone… 7.6.13

How is your day so far?  This week I got to sit down and actually read an article that I had put aside to read when I wouldn’t be disturbed.  I wanted to read about the elderly in Okinawa Japan. It seems that the villagers in a sleepy northern part of Okinawa, appear to live longer, and healthier. There is even a song that says that 50 and 60 year olds are babies, and people in their 70 and 80’s are adults.  It is only after turning into your 90’s that you begin to bloom.  In the Ogimi village, (pop 3308) they claim to having the highest longevity record in the world.  A super elder is someone over 100  =^_^=

The longest centenarian study (36 years) has involved Dr. Makoto Suzuki  who is the principal researcher behind the Okinawa Centenarian Study.  In 1994  he was joined by Drs. Craig and Bradley Willcox (Calgary born).  Their findings have been published and thanks in part to Oprah Winfrey, it became a bit of a bestseller.

How the World’s Longest Lived People Achieve Everlasting Health – and How you can too (2001).  The study was funded by the Japan Ministry of Health.  they looked at the total health of the “seniors”  – physical, mental and spiritual.  Dr Suzuki explained that part of the good spiritual health came from the island way of thinking called nankuru naisa, meaning don’t worry, be happy.. note.. these people lived through relentless bombardments during the war and years of poverty in the aftermath.  In PL, every day is a new day,  a new beginning, the 21 Principles help us achieve an Artistic Life.

Another factor in the islander’s longevity, is waking each day with Ikigai (a reason to get out of bed)  In PL, we do our best to live each moment to the fullest, PL Precept #18 – Each Moment is a  Turning Point  ………….  PL # 14  Peace is everything

Let’s not forget, diet and exercise. How food is cooked is as relevant as the foods themselves. Having purpose in all we do ( life ) is so important   The philosophy and concept of what I was reading smacked of how as a Taoist I try to live everyday, and as a practitioner of PL (Perfect Liberty)  I am encouraged and supported in my daily devotions to live in a manner that will promote world peace.  Grand thinking, no not really, if we, each and every one of us, practice living with love in our hearts and continue to reach out and pray for others and peace,  one by one our loving hearts will link, through Shingei (sharing our PL faith with others) the loving energy of world peace will grow.

When we look beyond ourselves, towards world Peace, our lives will be more fulfilling. We will have joy in self expression, living our lives to the fullest, will give us longevity. Happiness is such a wonderful state of BEing.    Blessings all!

Letting Go of Your Ego will Make You a Stronger Person

Letting Go of Your Ego will Make You a Stronger Person

If you are always caught up with power, status or appearances, you will have a hard time accomplishing anything of worth. Let go and express yourself fully.

PL teaching for day 4
Are we really the person we see when we look in a mirror? Are you who you want to be? Through PL consultations, we can learn to apply specific teachings to such questions, allowing for a more positive direction towards our goals.

Thursday another glorious day!

How is your day?  I hope it is super fantastic. In Canada,we are heading into our Canada Day long week-end, lots of festivities planned for visitors coming to the capital.  Heard on the news that astronaut Chris Hatfield will be here performing on the sound stage on Parliament Hill.  He will also have a display of all the Twitter pictures he took while in space. I would imagine that our city will be buzzing all week-end with activities.  Yesterday we saw people going to the Jazz festival site near City Hall.  So many possibilities, so many options. Do you have plans?

Every day is a special day when we start the day with a smile and a positive attitude.

PL  Principles  #12   I will get up pleasantly in the morning.

When we ask someone for help, we do so with sincerity, both in words and actions.  In the same manner, when we pray, it is important to offer our utmost sincerity to God/Tao/Buddha.  In PL, when we pray to Got, we use a unique prayer form.  this can be done either performed sitting or standing.  the PL Prayer form allows you to attain the most ideal state of mind when praying.

Taking the time to perform this simple ritual for me has enhanced my time in prayer/meditation.  It is very personal, it helps me to really slow down and focus “center”.

On Sunday’s we will often take time before the service to do some exercise together.  This gives the body the opportunity to stretch and release any stiffness in the joints, to activate and extend.  Then when the service begins, and we sit down, our body is content to mellow, and our minds are free to absorb and truly focus on the spiritual and divine of the service.

The sanctuary is filled with positive and activated energy.  Ah just thinking of it, I am looking forward to Sunday service…From sharing with you, I now have a big broad smile on my “puss” and I extend a warm and fuzzy happy happy day to all of you.

LOL I feel a bit like the little avatar I can be, skipping happily down a flowered pathway, sprinkling bubbles of happiness and sunshine into the air wanting to bestow on every one around a super fantastic glorious day.  Blessings everyone!

Let’s First Accept and Appreciate Things as They Are

PL teaching day 25 > Let’s First Accept and Appreciate things as They Are. Even when dealing with someone you don’t like or when you are facing an uncomfortable situation, take a moment to first accept whatever comes your way.  There is always something that you can learn from these situations.  Let’s First Accept and Appreciate Things as They Are.

There is a pure essence of innocence in all of  us. When we were children our actions were not to achieve for  some ulterior motive, we simply acted on our intuition.  Today looking in a mirror and seeing myself  in an outfit that hugged my figure, I realized that I had to be more accepting of my outline, and  appreciate my healthy body. Looking in the mirror, reminded me of a story recently published in the Portuguese newsletter (Jornal Perfeita Liberdade) from Brazil, (Feb.2013 issue) no matter how many times I feel a lesson has been learned, looking in a mirror, brings home a very NOW reality.  Even as a child, I found reason to complain about how I looked.  Self perception is a lesson that I will likely be working on for many moons to come.

PL teaches that when we are puzzled or at a standstill in regards to a particular issue, a spontaneous method (listening to our intuition) could lead to a highly creative and original solution (new way of seeing something)  Act without guile and do not attack the problem directly, Let’s First Accept and Appreciate Things as They Are.

Letting Go of Your Ego  Will Make you a Stronger Person

“If you are always caught up with power, status or appearances, you will have a hard time accomplishing anything of worth.  Let go and express yourself fully”

How easy it is to fall into the “ego trap”.  We are busy living our lives, tripping through life, when suddenly we are pulled up short by the boot straps, “how on earth did this happen” you’ve walked into a wall, or fallen into a pothole.  That is because somewhere along the way, we began to  believe in or fall into one of the “roles” we seem to be delegated to in life.  Not all the roles we find ourselves in are delegated, some are of our own making.  An ego can be like our very own personal nemesis.  In the church teachings, we learn to “see” and receive help to “let go”

I greet you with love in my heart, and wrap you in a heart felt hug. =^_^=

Blessings be…

Always Live with “World Peace” In Your Heart

June already, today is the start of another month, May seems to have gone by so quickly.  The PL teaching for June 1 is ” Always Live With “World Peace” In Your Heart.  If each one of us sincerely prays for peace on earth, our combined efforts can change the world”  During a service, when we read this teaching. the official that is leading us, reads the part that is in bold, and we repeat it.  Then the rest is read for us to think and meditate on.  Then we all repeat together the main sentence,” Always Live With “World Peace” In Your Heart” .  The teachings come in the form of a Perfect Liberty calendar.  This calendar consists of 31 pages.  We use this calendar all year.  A new one comes out at the start of each new year. They are available in English, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish

The teachings of PL focus on everyday daily living to help people be all they can be in  this life.  I am very fortunate in that I live in a city where there is an actual physical Perfect Liberty Church.  That said, you have access to the church, the ministers via the internet (see web site ) http://www.perfectliberty.ca  If you live close to any of the churches ( PL is International) you are always welcome to drop in, and/or contact the ministers in person.  It is so positive and exhilarating to have such open and effective communications with the ministers.

In June, the heat and humidity can soar in these parts, tempers can flare up, often there is a yearning to get away, to experience a change from the usual day to day.  Already at the gym that I attend, I see the decline in members hitting the machines in the early day.  It is vacation time, schools will be out soon, and the highways and roads into cottage country are getting busier.  Yet home is where I find my greatest sense of “well being” .  In following PL teachings on a regular basis, I am finding that often the inner contentment has me smiling what I call a Buddha smile..  From ear to ear, head to toe and through and through. =^_^=    Always live with “world Peace” in your Heart.

Listen With Your Heart and Your Mind

When you are listening to someone, give them your fullest attention.  Turning your body towards them, listen for the feeling behind their words so that you can truly understand what they are trying to tell you.

Listen With Your Heart and Your Mind.  Today’s Perfect Liberty teaching.  I start each day reading the daily teaching and try to carry it as best as I can throughout my day.  Doing this every day, you find that soon it becomes the natural way to respond and you develop  a greater understanding and connection to the person(s) you interact with.  How many times have you found yourself in a conversation that is one sided?  Someone will ask how you are, and before you can really answer they have launched into their own recounting of what has happened to them.  At such times I realize that the person’s need to share information and have someone listen is what is important in that moment.  I listen.  Not always, but more often then not, in listening, I hear not only the words but the feelings that accompany those words.  For that space in time, there is a connection between the person talking, and myself.  It might have been a sad story, an anxiety expressed, a happy moment retold, whatever it was, for me it was a moment shared.  I feel glad and happy to have been able to share that moment in time with my family  member/friend/acquaintance.  My happiness and comfort in sharing, transfers to the person I’m interacting with, when we can connect with another individual in a personal way, a sharing way, that is a real “hug”

Too often in life we say love, hugs and kisses, or make affectionate  sounds, but do we really feel the “comfort” and “joy” (closeness)

Listen With Your Heart and Your Mind.
