Sometimes

4827c30eba1ada26b75827d3c4747740Look familiar

have you had such moments

They happen in any relationship

This very public television couple

entertained, and made us laugh,

Lucy and her antics where just too funny

at least, that is how I remember the shows

when I saw them when they played

reruns.  She started out in movies, way before my time

but knew enough to change over to the small picture box

when it came along/

She went from showgirl, to B movie actress to a

well know and loved comedian, with a good head for business.  Sometimes we forget how some

actors worked very hard to make us smile and laugh.  They did so by exaggerating the day-to-day

ups and downs that a lot of relationships faced on a daily basis.  They put humour into the events

and laughter was the goal, when the audience really laughed, ratings rose.

These two made it look like fun.  Of course there was always a happy ending.  That is not the case in real life.  Many couples say that they work hard to never go to bed with negativity between them.  That is not an easy task

I faced an inner battle with myself just recently, I had to withdraw to a quiet place and meditate, think on why I was so upset.  Sometimes…. we just have to work things out for ourselves.  It is not that …click.. I sat down, tuned out of the world around me, and bingo the answer appeared in my thoughts.  Rather I had to pray, and have faith that I would do what was right. Once I made the decision, I was done with it, and it no longer took up space in my “head”.

PL Precept #19  Begin Once You Perceive.

Tonight while working on a project, I searched and searched for a picture I wanted to use.  Couldn’t find it, so I used something else.  The moment I stopped looking… you guessed it… I found the picture.  It had always been there, I just didn’t see it.  The picture I did use… turns out was the right one for that project.

Good morning, Bonjour…

Have you ever been walking on a clear day, just going about on your every day travels, when you find yourself suddenly shrouded with a fog, that seemed to appear out of nowher…..There is an old expression, “i was blind sided”  means something happens and you never saw it coming. It happens.  Sometimes more often than we would like it to.

Lessons in life are never straight forward, they are a way for life to remind us that we have gotten slack or lazy in how we are living or proceeding in life. We do not walk alone on the earth, we are surrounded by others who are going about their lives in the same way. Each with feelings, miseries and problems of their own.  It is how we deal with the challenges in life that sets us apart and makes us unique in who we are, and what we are.  Not just towards others, but to ourselves.  We must never forget that we count, and that love, and light comes from within.

We need not look far to see the signs of distress, loneliness, and abandoned dreams, we need only turn on the  telly or a radio to hear about the conflicts happening all over the world.  The reality is that is only one side of the coin.  In this creative photo manipulation, instead of the foot coming down – causing gloom and doom, it is being lifted and kept away by the steady, reliable protective hand of GOD/TAO.

Portal

The TAO/WAY is always there … ALWAYS, we decide  we can look at it in the distance, or we can walk through the door/portal and  discover what lies beyond self imposed restrictions.  We are responsible for our choices and our actions.

hmmmm – disquiet – sadness – forlorn

61cbbe12b29fda678de79268147fee64 Really?

Could this be me?

Why do I feel this way….

I am sad because i failed to see

that my Russia Olive (tree)

needed me..

You see I planted her

when she was very young,

and until recently I have checked her every day

she is not hard to miss,

she is right outside my bedroom window

and to the left of the deck when I go out.

Yet with the heat

and with all the … this and that…

that have been happening in my days

I saw she was getting top-heavy,

but I didn’t go further then register that thought

in my sun drenched, heat wilted brain

With an overnight rain, now she bows her head

in shame, for she is no longer standing proud and vain

d8e9fb81cca602bb0e29f1dde5d2650fYes she has even started to bear fruit

her very first year to produce fruit

now she needs repair

True in nature on her own, she would be fine

but i adopted and brought her here

and put her down in the ground of a city lot

I took responsibility, and then forgot

The PL Second Founder said:  When you have to pay for things, pay them joyfully and quickly without regret.  In the same manner when you something to be done, let’s do it without any reluctance or hesitation.  When you have to say something necessary, let’s express boldly and shamelessly without any compromise.  This is the mot natural  and right way to follow, PL Precept 19.  Begin once you Perceive.

PL Precept #8 Live as the Sun

Good morning everyone! Today we welcome Rev.Goto Sr. Minister @ the Perfect Liberty Church in NY.City, NY.  When reading his lesson for the service today, I thoroughly enjoyed it and wanted to share it with you.

7782bd8e8ffebb35ab3c75a1313ebd1c

Good morning everyone!

It’s a beautiful Sunday morning. Yesterday when I was walking on the street to go to the post office, everyone looked so happy to be out enjoying the warmth of the l sunshine. The sun is one of the most important power sources, which significantly affects our lives. So today I am going to talk about the PL Precept #8, “LIVE AS THE SUN.”

All living creatures in this world includes we humans live our lives by receiving the abundant power of the sun. The trees and leaves make photosynthesis to produce oxygen and many flowers start to bloom by receiving spring sunshine. Now in Japan, it is the famous cherry blossom season. The cherry blossom look especially beautiful when they are bathed in spring sunlight. During this season, all people get together under the cherry tree to appreciate the beauty and the joys of spring by bringing their favorite sake and bento boxes.

You may recall the story of the North Wind and the Sun.

The North Wind and the Sun were having quarrel about which of them was the stronger. When a traveler passed along the road wrapped in a coat,  they started to compete,  which of them can strip his coat off.  The north wind sent a cold, howling blast against the traveler. But he immediately wrapped it closely around him, and the harder the Wind blew; the tighter he wrapped himself up in his coat to keep from the cold.

Then the Sun began to shine. At first his beams were gentle, then it grew warmer and warmer. The man naturally took off his cap; and at last he took off his coat by himself, then he took a rest under a tree.

The Second Founder gave this explanation on PL Precept #8 as follows; The meaning of this precept, “LIVE AS THE SUN” is to always feel refreshed and honest, live cheerfully, in high spirits, just like brilliance of the shining sun. We should also not have any worries or discontented feelings and we should always live honestly and sincerely just like pure, clear rays of the sun shining ceaselessly on the earth.

Then today we would like to study together with this precept; how to have always refreshed, honest, cheerful state of mind. The key of this is, to take every Kamuwaza lightheartedly and with good intention, then take positive action pleasantly toward the matter. If you receive Mishirase, let us take them with appreciation. Oshieoya-sama mentioned that the Mishirase is God’s merciful blessing in order to make us develop. Therefore if we don’t face Mishirase, we have no chance to progress. So it is important to say, “Thank you God!” when you receive Mishirase.

And there are some other useful tips to live in this precept “LIVE AS THE SUN.”

1, Let you not to talk badly about others behind their back.

2, Let you express ourselves bravely and shamelessly

3, Let you express light-heartedly (with little bit higher voice tone).

4, Let you take action right away when you notice something (without hesitation or postponing).

5, Let you clean up and keep our surroundings tidy up around you (which we have talked about previously)

6, Let us stop delving into the past (it’s important). 過去をほじくり返す

Oshieoya-sama said, “If you want to live as in this precept, please make your firm Shikiri at your Omitama, “I will live and express myself always brightly and cheerfully at any moment and place.”

Thank you. (Rev. Goto Takashi)            ——————

We often take for granted the body that we use on a daily basis.  We learned to walk as children, and to use our hands as we needed.  An example I often use, is I drive I get into a car,  start it, then with the training and experience of years of driving I get on my way.  I don’t think about how the car is driving or what mechanical wonders it has under its hood, I just drive. Yes yes, I do make sure it is serviced and that it gets the proper attention it should, but I myself don’t get under the hood.

Hands are however another matter.  With the passing of time I have  learned to live with minor bouts of arthritis, I’ve watched as my middle finger on one hand developed its own slant and curve, and I’ve accepted it.. what else could I do.  Then a few months back I noticed that there was a tingling, and a funny sensation in my fingers that sometimes worked its way up my arm.  Had to take notice of that didn’t I.  I use my hands daily for a number of things, one big task they perform is that I use a keyboard for hours on end.

When the discomfort began to really be a bother, I began to speak of the malaise. Wonder out loud if you will if it was connected to my being diabetic. When it began to act up enough that I was getting really concerned, I made an appointment with the doctor.  After some discussion the leaning is that it is more than likely carpal tunnel … this I’ve had before and dealt with it… (no surgery)…. it was many years ago, I’d forgotten…. and yes…I had also slipped up on the exercises and stretching of the fingers and wrist joints.

PL Principle #15….  I will not do anything overly.

This is a perfect example, where I have been happily going along typing away every day for hours on end and not making time to do exercises, and to rest my hands.  It is like driving the car and expecting it to continue functioning at top-notch speeds and efficiency, while I neglect to have it tuned up and keep it gassed up etc.  (clinicalposters.com)

PL Principle #1.  I will live paying careful attention, putting Makoto (sincerity) into all I say and do.

I got lazy, I didn’t tend to my needs, I got arrogant believing that I could just “keep trucking”, but the “Universe” stepped in and let my body speak … and it did, loud and clear. I have a greater appreciation for the work my hands do for me… and I will at making amends.

awake and dreaming

It happens to all of us.  We are so tired we can barely stand, and long to go to bed.  We get to bed, slip eagerly under the covers only to find that our eyes are wide open, and the moment of sleep has gone on leave.

How about this one… by Robin Williams

ba8b59c6a56a8b0e4d8b7f5ae993251f

The last couple of days, I’ve been completely immersed in being sick.  That phase of sick  where your brain is just too tired to create a feel good moment,  your physical body has taken over and you are wallowing in chills, fever,a cough that won’t quit and a throat and chest that are battling for attention.  You don’t walk you stagger and shuffle, the b ox of tissue is never far from your reach.  If you could record the sounds you are making, you  would have a new ambient CD for the Halloween party in the barn.  Fortunately the fog receded and energy levels have increased.  Somehow the timing is off.  it is now after midnight and the brain has come alive, even though the body still wants to sleep

Monkey Wisdom

5fd07f4457e65d44a8ad8a32328a6205

I have Rev. Goto (NY PL church) for this expression.  He had my complete attention today while explained to the members PL Principle #9. I will not have a mind to be dishonest.  The set of 21 Principles are there for us to help us live our lives following the 21 Precepts.  Today Rev. Goto talked about Principle #9. He always like to give us an example of the lesson so that we better visualize and understand the teaching.  Like all good teachers, he doesn’t talk forever, he says what he has to say, and then cheerfully leaves us with an embedded image and lesson to ponder and assimilate.

He related a story to us that came to him through another PL Minister, Rev. Ono.  The story takes place years ago, in a different time.  An elder in a small viillage decided to organize a festival that would take place in the square at the village shrine.  For the occassion he had asked that everyone come with one item of food, and one bottle of sake (Japanese rice wine)

This was a time before bottled sake, villagers made their own sake, and kept it in traditional jars or containers made f wood or ceramics.  The idea was that each villager would bring a container of their sake, and it would be poured into one large sake barrel, for the enjoyment of the community.  This ‘sake cocktail” would be a sharing and each member participating would be honoring their fellow neighbours.

Once the mixture was prepared, the party started.  The village elder took a sip from the barrel to start the festivities, took a sip, and stood back in surprise, calling out…”oh m God, what is wrong with the sake?  It tastes like water!”    Hmmmm. how could sake turn into water?  It was clear that the sake had not changed into water, but that it had been water in the first place.  Each guest at the party who was to bring sake, had decided to bring water instead.  It was a precious commodity, and they thought no one would notice.  However,  they were not the only ones to have that thought and to act on it.  Monkey wisdom… since the majority thought to be deceitful, the few who did bring sake, had their sake diluted by all the water.

When we live with a pure and honest mind, our actions and our thoughts bring a joy and satisfaction to what we do, for us and those around us.  We should live with one mind, a mind that says “there is nothing to hide between God and myself”  Just because you think no one is looking or will know, God knows.

This story although told with humor, shows us that as humans our ego does not always motivate us in the “right” direction.    All people have a mind capable of thinking in a manner that is not always “honest” –  Let us do our best to live with a mind that will apply makoto (sincerity) to being honest in all we do and say.

This is a vintage print that appeared in a mailing I received, I wish I could credit the artist, but I can’t.   Art is very subjective, what appeals to me, may not be your cup of tea.  For me the moment I saw this print, I was mesmerized.  The colours, the position of the model, the bird cage, the total image evoked a sense of longing in me. Certainly not in a negative way, just a feeling, a passion that set me to wanting to create prose, or write a poem.  I’m sure that at one time or another, such moments have happened to you.   What do we do with these inspirations, these “ah Ha” light bulb moments.. do we act on them, or does the moment pass and we move on.

PL Precept # 3 – God appears through one’s self……..

In PL (Perfect Liberty) we believe that the Universe is always guiding and directing us,  It is we who fail to listen or hear…when something happens out of the blue, or suddenly we find ourselves faced with a challenge we are not prepared for.  In Pl we see that as an act or happening created by the Universe to get our attention. We are taught to take stock, pay attention, open our minds to possibilities, to focus and seek resolution.

PL Precept # 7 – Everything exists in Relativity….

When I saw the above print, it started a thought process, that began with the emotions I felt when I saw the print, and then the various stages of evolution the initial thought produced in my mind’s data base.  More than 12 hours later I still wanted to share the print with you.  Perhaps it will inspire a thought process in you?

For me… it had me looking for a gaudy ring full of bling…….  go figure……..hey…………….. what is… is, I  share with you all of me, imperfections included.!

18d550d1c18862f3953e6a9979e5c5b1

The PL 21 Precepts reveal the true path of life for all humankind.  Beginning with Precept #1, Life is Art…. as the foundation.  There are 20 more precepts that stem from it and are closely interrelated with one another.  Each Precept is written in simple and clear language, but the truth revealed in their words applies Universally to ALL….

Thank you to all of you who read and follow me on my journey.  You are my inspiration.

We have all at one time or another been in such a place, either an airport, train station, bus station, exhibition grounds, it could be anywhere. There is a constant flow of activity around you. You need to unwind, slow down, chill. what do you do?

d406a210007113badfa810b06cdeca5a

For me, I turn off, I zone out. This skill didn’t come to me overnight, it is a life long practice that is akin to prayer and meditation.  I close my eyes and turn inward to the quiet within me. Serenity, peace, joy… these are inner qualities of “self”.  Our connection to God/Tao… Life.  PL Precept # 3, God appears through One’s Self... We can’t always travel to distant lands to meditate and pray in temples and at shrines.  There are countries where the churches and temples are open for those who wish to pray and communicate with “the Divine”.  In North America this is not always possible except at given times and days.

When we learn to meditate/pray in a way that connects to our inner “Self”, then no matter where we are, even in a crowded room. we can connect to the quiet and peace within. we rejuvenate, energize and mend the tired/shattered psyche .. giving us that needed extra boost to get on with creativity of our day/night.  PL Precept #21  – Live in Perfect Liberty
