Thursday doors – “doors”

sharon-springs-doors

Sharon Springs,NY

I don’t know whether to thank Norm or not.  I have alway had a “love” for doors.  From early years I collected pictures of doors, admired doors and bla bla bla….  but with his little challenge, it has  put “focus” on doors again, in a sense that I see a door and wonder.. hmmm will do this for the challenge..

My husband and I for some odd reason, have taken to a game on Facebook called Cafeland.  It is a cute game, we have a restaurant and we make food, sell to customers and of course, build the business and you make money, and if you keep at it, your money of course builds.  I began playing the game years ago, when I first began in FB, I soon tired of it, being too busy with commitments etc. in my day to day, and my friends had basically moved on to other games.

What I didn’t know my husband who does not play games, except Scrabble and Word with Friends, who had started a restaurant to help me while I was playing, liked seeing the $$ add up, so he just over the years kept playing,  Long and the short of it is, thar when a new friend learned about Cafeland, she started to play and I reopened my cafe so that I could help her with the challenges.  WELL  Hubby was now way ahead of me in not only points but in $$$.  He’d built up a fortune.

I began to play regularly again, to try to catch up, but with years under his belt, he is just too far ahead in points and he has managed his money so that, I think there is just too much there to work through. So being the considerate wife, I offered to remodel his cafe ….evil grin….   knowing his wife, kind husband says sure, and leaves me to it on his computer and with his accumulated fortune. hehehehehehehe.. pulls my witches hat further down on my head.

window-to-the-past

I redid all the floors, walls, put in new windows, decor, and still he has millions and millions left over.  I even put in new DOORS.. two of them.  Here you go Norm… it is while I’m looking at the doors, what to put in, that I get this little “ping”   I start wondering if I can use the  doors in Cafeland, in Norm’s Thursday doors.  Norm!! what have you started.

Thursday Doors – @ the locks

Cute as a button, too bad it wasn’t open the day we were there.  there was an event going on at the picnic area next to it, but I managed to get in a picture of the shop without bothering the small gathering.

P1000289

The door was creative and festive.  We will try to head back that way before the “season” comes to an end.  We did notice, there some of the trees along the road side, were starting to show shades of colour.

Thursday Doors -Japan

P1000233

I showed you this door a couple of posts back.  If someone hadn’t told me, I would never have guessed that behind that door was a sauna.  A good size one too. The doors in Japan. in the Japanese hotels, not the tourist ones, but the hotels where Japanese stay when traveling, are not very high.   I found everything to be cozy. But then I am 5’3″.  =^_^=

The faucet you see on the sink, swivels to fill the very deep tub. Once you are washed and cleaned, you can then fill the tub and enjoy a hot to your liking soak.  Western style toilets, often have heated seats, and on the arm you see there, are the buttons, to activate the various functions performed by the “toilet”   Most hotels provide you with shampoo, body wash, and conditioner.  I have only ever stayed in the Japanese hotels, so cannot comment on the “tourist” accommodations.

Thursday Doors -Charm

charming door

Nothing says WELCOME more than a door with charm and character.  We pass this darling house every time we visit a town along the St. Lawrence seaway.  This time I couldn’t go by it another time and not capture it to share with you.  This is not a castle door, or a door to a big multi million dollar mansion, this is a door that says, “this is home”

P1000216

Even has the wonderful wide porch that invites a nice long visit, watching the world go by.  We didn’t meet him, but there is a dog with the face of an angel who looked curiously out of the side window at us as we chatted with the owner.  There is a lot to see when you visit the small towns and villages along the seaway.

Thursday doors 7.14.16

WP_20130730_014

Windows and doors.  always fascinate, a glimpse, a peek, sometimes it is the door itself that holds our attention.

WP_20130727_010

There is always a hint of mystery, when I see a door that interest me.  I want to peer inside, better yet, I want to step over the threshold and go inside.

WP_20130802_068

I always knew that behind a door would be something new.  No matter how many times I would push open the door, another “happening” would occur.

WP_20130727_009

I will be exploring new dimensions of time in Japan while I am away.  I hope to have more to share with you on my return.  I may or may not get time to post over the next weeks, so know this.  I am going to miss you, each and every one of you who share my world.

may God keep you safe, happy and healthy

may each new day bring joys for you to enjoy

Thursday doors 6.23. Japan

20130727_224818

Good morning, thought you might find these doors interest, the whole concept actually.  I have only seen this arrangement in Japan.  They are little toilet areas for children travelling with their parents.  As you can see, the child goes in has his /her privacy (more or less) to attend to his/her business.

20130727_224839

BUT, the child size area, has an observation area for the parent(s).  This way the child is able to have the secure knowledge that the parent or guardian is right there, should they have any problems.

20130727_224823

My thanks to the Reverend and his wife for being obliging models for this  picture  =^_^=    These could have been in the Tokyo airport or the depot for the Bullet train, I’m not remembering this morning.  Suffice to say, it is Japan.
