With the start of the new year, I was cleaning out files, and found this advert for when I was working with a product called Powertex, and giving demos .. so other “artists” could learn about the product. These were garden sculptures I had done over time to demonstrate its capabilities. The one piece lasted outside in our Canadian winters for over 10 years. (bottom right) In the end it was the center piece for climbing vines.

Change, the only constant in life.. is change.

Good relationships begin by greeting each other.

The dragon is stirring.. he’s beginning to wake. How did you ring in the new year? Was it a big event for you? What does it mean to you? Has it or does it make a big impact on your life? I ask out of curiosity, in my world the moving into a new year, is a very personal and exciting time, not so much because it is a reason to celebrate and party, but because it is a milestone, one I can reflect on, and review all the goodness and positives that have enriched my life. I get to share the solar calendar with friends, and then later, the welcoming of the new lunar year.

When my Dad was alive, he would take me to big events, where there was always a dragon dance, with firecrackers, and the smell of incense filled the air along with the smoke from the fire crackers. We would go down to Chinatown, and he’d hoist me up so I could see the Dragon dancers make their way along the street .. merchants would stand in front of their shops… welcoming the dragon… there would be fresh oranges and rice on the small shop alters.. welcoming the new year spirits …. encouraging the dragon to bestow good fortune on their businesses, and good health and happiness to their families.

When my Dad passed the old traditions died with him… In my maturity, I have kept many of the old ways, the cleaning out of the “old” to make way for the “new”. I begin in late fall, meditating and reviewing what “life” is like for me.. Thinking of how I feel, what is happening with me, physically and intellectually. The biggie is…. is my life filled with contentment, am I happy. I am pleased that for the most part, yes … I am a happy person.. and.. I know contentment. Sure I get upset, and yes I have moments, but they are short lived, because, I like and prefer to be happy. We are all blessed with opportunities in life, I strive for and enjoy, quiet, serene, and tranquility. Simplicity.

Always express your true self with honesty and integrity

We feel a deep sense of joy when we are able to express our true selves. Always focus on your true feelings and express yourself honestly.

Let’s sit by the fire where it is cosy and warm. We can listen to the crackling and popping as we watch the flames dance merrily in joyful harmony along the burning logs. Everyone is so busy, running here and there, getting ready for one last fling in 2024. In contrast I want to mellow out and ease gracefully towards the new adventures that await me. 2024 has been a wonderful year, I am blessed with love and friendships that grow richer with each passing moment … It is with heartfelt gratitude that I wish you all the very best in the coming days, months.. There comes a time when we have to acknowledge that there are talented individuals out there.. Naria the vlogger/blogger who put together this video of a holiday show that was presented in Second Life for the holidays, is an “influencer” who helps showcase the many individuals in the virtual world who work behind the scenes to entertain and bring happiness and smiles to everyone… Not just the communities within Second Life, but to everyone!

Every avatar you see is a “person” who has spent hours not only developing their online personalities, but working together to put together this musical. The set designers, the costume makers, the makeup artist… No one person does it alone..

So it is in our everyday world. Please everyone..

Let’s find the good in others and praise them

All people have good qualities and bad qualities, Focus on the good in others and applaud them every chance you get.

Wednesday

All the little reindeer are getting ready for their big haul coming up. They have to keep in shape, work their muscles, and keep their limbs flexible… build their stamina. We are being told to expect our first big snow drop…there were snow dustings yesterday. Time to put the sand and a shovel into the car, make sure the ice and snow scrapers are within reach. You ready?

When you get stuck, go back to the beginning

Could it be that you have forgotten what initially sparked your enthusiasm? By remembering what inspired you in the beginning, you will feel a renewed enthusiasm.

For those of you following the car saga, Its back, however it is not finished, there is still a problem with the wi-fi system, I can get calls, but no one can hear me.. could be the speaker or another wire that is malfunctioning!… but it can’t go back in till the 10th. Not having it for over a week, means I have a lot of “catch up ” to do. Positive side. I will be unavailable while in my car /out on runs etc… just like in the good old days of landlines and no wi-fi in cars. Always look for the silver lining!!!!!!

Have a great day everyone, and IF you are in an area where the snow is coming or has come, please be prepared. Check your anti-freeze, the windshield washer fluids are they minus weather grade, do you have a shovel, sand/salt in the car if you travel outside the city a must ….. yup winter is here. In Canada winter tires are a necessity … NB* in some Provinces you will be ticketed or fined if you are travelling without them. Take heed. Be Prepared.
