a joyful morning

Guess who got out into the woods today… It was on the cool side, the water had a layer of ice on the top, snow lay in some areas, the chill was present. No matter, I loved it.

Do things joyfully. Instead of taking it easy. Enthusiastically engage with what’s in front of you. You’ll enjoy it more.

Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion, will one day become a reality.

Till soon

soon

As the season’s change, the summer sun begins to fade , the nights get cooler, and the mornings are slow to reappear. Darkness comes early and fades later… meanwhile, life in the human lane keeps trucking along adjusting to what ever challenges/opportunities come along. Some adventures we handle better than others. But handle them we must.

Sometimes, it is just hearing your friend’s voice at the other end of the line, or getting a responding text that will ease the “pain” “discomfort” of the moment.. honestly we are lost without our friends… I woke this morning with a shocking pain that ran up both legs. talk about being wide awake in seconds. Yes I have been up and around, doing and doing, winter is on its way, and things need doing. Unfortunately for me, the spirit may have been willing, but the body was “not amused” This morning it reported it’s unhappiness with some of my recent decisions it a very compelling way. I had no choice but to listen… it was a severe reprimand.

If you have ever experienced a muscle/tendon spasm, you know of what I speak. My body didn’t just give me one spasm in one leg, no, it gave me the full treatment to both legs, crippling me without mercy until I was able to find the spray that would freeze and shock the tissues into relenting and letting up. Good morning to me!!!! Guess who will be behaving all day today!

Ok. that means, that yes it was an unpleasant experience, but I appreciate that my body is telling me of my delinquent attention to it’s needs. I will show my appreciation by listening to my body, and my friends who have all been telling me, “you are doing too much, too soon!!!!” Practice patience… repeat after me, practice patience… practice patience……

practice patience!

To my wonderful friends who have been listening to me, helping me and scolding when I need reminding, thank YOU….

house on the hill

So lonely and sad, the old house now sits so silently on the hill – No more does it hear the sounds of children playing – or the clanking of pots and pans as dinner is being made It’s former charm has now long since gone.

Imagine how it had once been, the proud haven for how many generations of families? Can you see the farmer tending the land, animals grazing near and around the homestead…. I think I see that a swing once sat in the front yard, where come evening, the family could gather and watch as the evening skies filled with stars. A gallery of twinkling particles of light against a clear night time sky

My friend and photographer Shirley Keen took these photos while on one of her jaunts. I was going to use it for “Thursday Doors” but there was a poignant feeling about the house, that inspired me to give it its own place on a page. Old homesteads like this are found not only in NZ but here in Canada, and I’m sure in the USA. I noticed in the pictures there was no road leading in to the house, nor any sign of hydro (electricity) being fed to the house. It has to have been vacant for years. There is a road not far off, but no driveway to this building.

Update. the Hoult farm house has been in the same family for 6 generations. It seems there will soon be a new house built close to where this one now stands by one of the descendent of this family.

Could this have been a reservoir for catching rain water?

Seeing the pictures Shirley took of this old farmstead brought back memories of days when the entire area around where I grew up was farmland such as seen in these photos, and now … all one can see are city lights and urban sprawl.

Let’s interact proactively with an ever changing society. society is always rapidly hanging with the times. Keep your eyes and mind in tune with these change and learn to deal with them proactively.

Have a great day everyone!

light and shadows

Being sidelined these past weeks has meant that I have had plenty of time to visit and revisit some of my creative endeavors that I’ve played around with over the last couple of months. In particular it has given me time to work on the Christmas greetings that I have to have ready to send over seas. The new year is fast approaching, and if mail (snail) is to get overseas in time for the holidays, I need to meet the postal deadlines set by our postal system to ensure that mail will arrive on time. Last year there was a huge rush and a lot of delays depending on the country you were mailing to. Check with your local postal authorities for the deadlines this year.

We are all wonderful in our own way. Although results are important, your effort is what is truly precious.

blue spruce today – I love this tree

Then and now… when we love … we love forever… I found this tree years ago, and every year since I planted it, I’ve watched it grow and spread its branches. I never tire of my appreciation for its presence in my life.

Let’s begin today with a smile. Let’s stat the day with a positive outlook, looking forward to what we can discover

The door

We all have a door that has been closed and locked for some time, so long in fact, you’re not sure when the last time you opened it and went inside.

Maybe it is just one of many doors and windows you’ve boarded up and turned away from. These doors may be closed and boarded up, but what is inside, and the memories and emotions that were experienced, and given birth to behind these doors, they remain hazy discarded objects in dusty corners of our minds.

With time, the door finally simply disappears or opens and what can be found inside, is often vacant space and long forgotten pieces of yesterday that no longer have meaning in your/our world today.

There is always another door, one that is inviting, or beckoning, From my experience, when a door opens, you cannot escape that reality that you will face. Just because there is a door .. doesn’t mean it is meant for you. Some door we are meant to enjoy from a distance. They are part of someone else’s “storyline” The “secrets” they hold .. belong in another book,

You will recognize the doors that will welcome you, when you cross the threshold you will know and feel the positive and healing energies… We all have such doors in our lives… sometimes we tend to pass them without thought, other times, perhaps we need to make time to reacquaint ourselves with what lies beyond, it is only in facing and cleaning out cobwebs that fresh air can penetrate and cleanse.

When we declutter, when we face our troubles, only then can we see clearly to move ahead and past our “self imposed” limitations.

There will always be a way If you persist and be creative without giving up, you will find solutions that, you had not considered before.

Wednesday- PL WAY

PL Peace Tower -Japan

Your life is your very own unique work of art. If you cut corners or miss important details, you will not be able to live up to your fullest potential. If you fail to see what is important or miss a vital step, the value of your artistic life will be declined. It is important to put your heart into even the smallest of matters reminding yourself that each small amount accumulates into the whole of your artistic life.

Life is Art

PL Precept # 1

To Live is to express One’s Self

PL Precept # 2

Did you know that the first founder of PL, Rev. Tokuharu Miki, was formerly a buddhis priest> In 1912, he met Rev Tkumitsu Kanada who instantly cured his chronic asthma through the “Sacred rite of Ofurikae” So profoundly affected was Rev. Tokubaru Miki he became his disciple. At that time in Japan, tuberculosis was one of the deadliest diseases, Rev Miki wanted to apply his learning and the principles of Rev. Kanada’s teachings in helping the young/old deal with this deadly disease that was taking so many lives.

There is much to learn from knowing our history, and appreciating the lessons learned by our ancestors. Tomorrow, the 11th. in all PL churches there will be a 10:a.m. service honoring our Ancestors’. Ancestors’ Day – the 11th of each month -a ceremony where we express our gratitude for the love and virtues of our ancestors and ask for their protection and guidance so we can continue to live the PL WAY.

My new camera is heavy, and the terrain I like to wander is on the rugged side.. current mantra is patience girl, patience.

I will be doing a blog on the Sax on the Beach venue I attended (virtually) later today or tomorrow to show you some of the talent I got to see and enjoy, I will post to my Virtual news 8 blog, SEE LINK. Please subscribe to it for news on the event and other venues and entertainment news from SL (Second Life) It is an opportunity for you to enjoy and get to know about people from all over the world through their creativity and talents. All from the comfort of your home. https://virtualnws8.ca/

My friend Shirley in NZ visited the most wonderful attraction in Denniston of an old coal mine. I’m going to share some of her pictures here for you to enjoy.

Where ever you are in the world, this is a wonderful time of the year, the cooler air is exciting, it brings with it the winds of change, and therefore we have new discoveries to explore. Through the adventures of my friends who like myself like to wander and explore, through my blog I try to share with you the awesome world we live in. In Shirley’s pictures I could envision how the coalfields must have looked back when it was operational, the hive of activity, the human energy it required to function.

We (as a people) have come such a long way, the history of our past, the trials, the hardships, the joys and the new discoveries are all part of what we have to thank for, where we are today.

With the new season soon to be with us, let’s strive to be better at being open to new ideas, new possibilities, and remember to give thanks for where we have been, and the people/ancestors who paved the way for us.

With one thought “the World” will change, it begins with US.

Love you all. Till soon
