Thought we could do with a different climate and geography (if you , like me live in a part of the world where we are going into Winter.)

Let’s begin today with a smile. Let’s start the day with a positive outlook, looking forward to what we can discover.

house on the hill

So lonely and sad, the old house now sits so silently on the hill – No more does it hear the sounds of children playing – or the clanking of pots and pans as dinner is being made It’s former charm has now long since gone.

Imagine how it had once been, the proud haven for how many generations of families? Can you see the farmer tending the land, animals grazing near and around the homestead…. I think I see that a swing once sat in the front yard, where come evening, the family could gather and watch as the evening skies filled with stars. A gallery of twinkling particles of light against a clear night time sky

My friend and photographer Shirley Keen took these photos while on one of her jaunts. I was going to use it for “Thursday Doors” but there was a poignant feeling about the house, that inspired me to give it its own place on a page. Old homesteads like this are found not only in NZ but here in Canada, and I’m sure in the USA. I noticed in the pictures there was no road leading in to the house, nor any sign of hydro (electricity) being fed to the house. It has to have been vacant for years. There is a road not far off, but no driveway to this building.

Update. the Hoult farm house has been in the same family for 6 generations. It seems there will soon be a new house built close to where this one now stands by one of the descendent of this family.

Could this have been a reservoir for catching rain water?

Seeing the pictures Shirley took of this old farmstead brought back memories of days when the entire area around where I grew up was farmland such as seen in these photos, and now … all one can see are city lights and urban sprawl.

Let’s interact proactively with an ever changing society. society is always rapidly hanging with the times. Keep your eyes and mind in tune with these change and learn to deal with them proactively.

World Peace does not invite people just by praying… praying for peace is important, but let’s take concrete action. Efforts and sincere actions to create harmony, not only in the home but also in the workplace and community, will lead to world peace.

Friday haunts

taken by Shirley Keen, NZ

Not living in NZ, I cannot but imagine what it must be like to stand on the shoreline under such skies and taking this picture. I love the brooding oranges and dark clouds.

I went back into the file with her photos, and found this one, again.. she sees this on her walks every day/night… Not at all what I would see if I walked around my city street in the evening. We are all on the same planet, but our views, our geography is so different. The same applies in how we see life itself. We all experience love, pain, happiness, grief, but all in our own way.

Shirley took this next picture on one of her “walks” she ventured further than her immediate area, and walked along different paths.. One of the pictures she took ..(for me) was a “wow” moment.

Port Nelson. NZ

Because I live smack in the middle of a busy city, this is not something I would get to see unless I was on a holiday somewhere, and out for a walk in the evening. Even then if I wasn’t in the geographical area, where she was at the time of taking the picture, same longitude/latitude etc. I would not “see” or “capture” that same moment.

This is also what happens to us on/in a day to day, when we chat and talk with friends, we share experiences, and the friend will hear what we are saying and form their own “picture” of what is being said.. but they will never have the exact same experience.. this is why communication is so key in any kind of relationship. Personal, business or otherwise..

No one can take away the joy you get from putting your whole heart into something. The joy you feel when you’ve put your all into something is yours and yours alone. Nobody can take that away from you.

Sunday -strolling thru

Because (update) I had a bit of a set back yesterday, I will be off my leg for another while. I was thrilled when I saw Num had posted the above pictures, this is where I want to be.. I so much want to be back wandering the woodlands..Sooooo I am being good, and practicing patience as best I can to ensure the leg heals. My new camera is heavy, and the terrain I like to wander is on the rugged side.. current mantra is patience girl, patience.

My friend Shirley in NZ visited the most wonderful attraction in Denniston of an old coal mine. I’m going to share some of her pictures here for you to enjoy.

Where ever you are in the world, this is a wonderful time of the year, the cooler air is exciting, it brings with it the winds of change, and therefore we have new discoveries to explore. Through the adventures of my friends who like myself like to wander and explore, through my blog I try to share with you the awesome world we live in. In Shirley’s pictures I could envision how the coalfields must have looked back when it was operational, the hive of activity, the human energy it required to function.

We (as a people) have come such a long way, the history of our past, the trials, the hardships, the joys and the new discoveries are all part of what we have to thank for, where we are today.

With the new season soon to be with us, let’s strive to be better at being open to new ideas, new possibilities, and remember to give thanks for where we have been, and the people/ancestors who paved the way for us.

With one thought “the World” will change, it begins with US.

Love you all. Till soon

Nature has many faces, depending on where we are at a given time, what we will see and experience , are miles apart, different in every way, yet beautiful at the same time.

With the many prayers and healing thoughts coming our way, how can we not be enriched in every way, by the thoughtful and caring generosity of our friends.
