Ancestors’ day

This was last year, but I saw three yesterday when I drove in at P22, Yahoooo

For readers who are interested in birds and live in my part of the globe.. I have been watching for the nuthatch, always a visitor to the various feeders, I have found them absent these past months. I have not seen one for at least a couple of months.. The past two winters they were always around, and I did hear them early in the season.. but not lately. If you come across one/two .. please drop me a line. Thanks.

I saw a headline the other day, “the age free life” it s not about a number, it is about energy, balance and joy. I had to ask myself how old the author of that article was, flipping through the pages, I saw that the oldest group they mentioned was 50’s. Checking the cover of the magazine I saw it was from 2016. Here we are in 2023, and not much has changed, except that the writer would now be 7 years old. In my own circle of friends I have seen the difference a few years make in not only their health, (my own included) but in their stamina and outlook on life.

Today being Ancestors day at the church, we celebrate what was, and look at what is, and we express our gratitude. In the magazine I was mentioning there was a challenge… It read, enter the gratitude challenge! what are you thankful for… I thought to send out this challenge to you, how many times do you say thank you in a day. Are you thankful for ???? what comes to mind?

Quote – “Every day you’re alive and someone loves you is a miracle” Rita Mae Brown.

Quote – ” I would maintain that Thanks are the highest form of thought and that Gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder.” G.K. Chesterton.

La vie est belle – Life is beautiful.. and one of the reasons it is, is because YOU, yes you are in it. I may not know you, and you and I may never cross paths, but you are reading this post and sharing this moment with me.. For this.. I thank YOU.

Make today a “give back day” We can live our daily lives owing to our ancestors, our elders, and the work of our predecessors. Above all, kindness for others is the best way to give back.

Thanksgiving long week-end

Happy Thanksgiving to one and all, I know it is not a holiday in the States, but you are still getting the good wishes. =^_^= We all need some positive vibes these days.

Where I am, we are back to a being on serious lock down, people are being asked to allow at least 28 days of remaining close to home, no social gathering, or extended forays into the city if it is not required.

Please stay safe, stay positive, and enjoy family visits via virtual means if at all possible.

Today is also the 10th day of the 10th month. auspicious time.. =^_^=… we could get an early start to perhaps doing something we haven’t done in years. Let’s send Christmas greetings by snail mail. !! Now is the time to try making your own greeting cards.. or drafting a Season’s greetings news letter. 2021 is less than 3 months away!

Enjoy the moment while you wait. Things come about when they are meant to happen. Think of what you can do for the time being, and don’t rush the outcome.

composting

composting

Good morning all, I used this picture yesterday it is how the Parks and Services composts vegetation they clear in their forest.

runs along the St. Lawrence, from Cornwall towards Morrisburg, Ontario

Often we just take for granted that our park lands, forests our there for us to enjoy and explore. The big pile left to compost over winter and into next season, reminded me of all the workers that we don’t see during the weeks and months that keep the trails free and open for us to use, 4 seasons of the year.

It is important to say thank you, and appreciate those that work behind the scenes, men and women who we don’t get to see, but work doing things that we get to appreciate every day. Last night JR (company here in Ottawa) had drivers out clearing lane ways that were hard to clear due to the heaviness of the snow and ice. built up over the last couple of days. It is a service I pay for. Yet it was not really an amount of snow that they usually come out and do. This was an accumulation over several days.

When I heard the plow in the lane way I was truly grateful and happy. By the time I got myself organized to run out and say thank you.. the plow was at the end of the street moving to the next customer on the street. That gratitude was so heartfelt. I had tried to move the snow, and it was hard, I had given up, and come inside. This was earlier in the day, to get to church I drove over the hard crusted snow. I so dislike car tracks in the snow/ice that leave ruts over time.

I will make time today, to call the company and say thank you. Appreciation feels good, and I want to pass it on. You?

Picture was taken yesterday at beautiful Pansy park in Pembroke, Ontario. I have never seen so many black squirrels in one place.  A step back in time.

May 11.

The 11th of every month, in PL, we celebrate and give thanks to our ancestors, parents and those who supported us throughout our lives.

When the road ahead looks dark, we have to believe and have faith, that if it is the road ahead of us, and one we are meant to take, that it will be welcoming.

Monday – reflection

I came home from church yesterday to find out that Keeper had gone missing.  She had slipped out the door before my husband could close it. He tried to follow her, but in his weakened condition, she proved to be more determined then he, and for his efforts he landed on the curb while she ran merrily on her way.  Of course, new to the area, she got lost.

As fate would have it, I had gone out without my cell.  He had no way to reach me, I was doing errands on my way back  home.  In brief, I was devastated, crushed beyond measure, every death in the last year, every parting that have visited my life this year, came crashing down on me.  The damn opened and I have never in my life known such emotional ripping apart of my “soul”  I cried, screamed, wailed, I scared myself.  Never in my life have I had such immediate pain and felt so ripped apart.

All I could think of was NOTHING, the grieving in my total being had taken over and all I could do was allow the emotions to express themselves.  Prayer, Pray Pray, Pray… in the  quiet spaces before the wailing began again & again, I called the church, the Humane Society, the Police…. my common sense prevailed, I did not use 911.. but called their main number.  my voice cracked I could barely speak my vocal chords were in shock, I’m sure.

Keeper is home.  Someone called animal control, they came brought her back to the shelter, checked her microchip, called the breeders*, who like knights in shining armour from days of old, jumped into their car and did their best not to speed into the city.  They  got the call at 3:15 or so,  the shelter closed at 4 pm.

It was a harrowing day, Keeper and I were in bed very early,  we slept till this morning, glued together in relief.  Poor Velcro, didn’t know what was happening around him, he is such a patient, and caring soul. The dogs commiserated happily when they met up.  Big brother was welcoming to his delinquent sister, he didn’t scold for the anxiety she unwittingly caused, in all four of her humans.

I don’t know why it was deemed necessary that I experience such a torrent of emotions, but… it did certainly allow for an emptying of any and all emotions I may have been holding back.  Life IS.

I am so grateful and thankful for the kindness of the strangers, that due to their caring  and good intentions, made the choices that brought Keeper home.

Stash

fabric stash 4Happiness is finding that the coloured hook and loop tape is on sale, buy 1 and get 2 free.  I had not seen coloured hook and loop before, so I was for sure, having a few. Especially they were in the fall colours I was on the hunt for.

Took me awhile but I finally found the fat quarters, and when I did, I forgave the shop for hiding way in the back.  They were all half price. I managed to find enough quarters in the colours I was wanting.

fabric stash 3I’m even going to follow the “rules” and launder the pieces first before I start to cut them up and heat bond them.  I am showing you the raw pieces, before I play with them.  Hopefully I will eventually show you the end product.  I have no idea what I will do with the tape, but the possibilities are endless.

I’ve also begun to work on the art/junk journals again .. fall is in the air, I always get a nudge from Mother Nature at this time of year, the vibrant colours she splashes all around us is enticing.  Even the rows of golden rod and mellow yellows that dot the fields along the highways call out to me.

The unbelievable thrill of seeing the  1000 shades of orange/reds that wave from the hardwood trees that line the road, exhilarates.

My stash is slowly taking on the colour theme that I will work with. Yes I am excited at the pending creativity that is awake and churning to get going… anyone else out there feeling that zing that is floating around in the ethers of the bright fall days.  Not to mention the crisp night breezes that lull us to sleep.

It has been a super great Thursday  …  hello Friday, I’m ready for you.

May the happiness of the season, float effortlessly your way. Appreciate and enjoy this season of harvest.

Nature has many faces, depending on where we are at a given time, what we will see and experience , are miles apart, different in every way, yet beautiful at the same time.

With the many prayers and healing thoughts coming our way, how can we not be enriched in every way, by the thoughtful and caring generosity of our friends.

flooding

I remembered I had a picture that would give a visual on what some areas are like in our part of the world right now.  Many people have been and are dealing with flooding. Not just one or two areas, many places in the Province, not only cottage country, any where,  there is water.  Our lakes, and rivers are swollen and over flowing their banks. People are scrambling to save what they can.  There have been thousands and thousands of sand bags filled and carried to numerous destinations.  Still the water rises.

According to weather specialists, we’ve not seen the likes in decades, records have been broken.  The climate changes  the world is experiencing is all very real.

Please pray for those in need, and give thanks of appreciation to the many generous souls who have come forward to volunteer their time and help to those who are having to face the raging rising waters, and watch helplessly as their property disappears under the incoming tides.

This too shall pass, meanwhile, pray…
